  1. UFOs cont’d–

Huxley–Science fiction had pretty thoroughly explored all sorts of scenarios in which extraterrestrials interact with us here on Earth, and the reasons why they might do so.

One reason that might make sense–especially given the actions of UFOs in congregating over nuclear sites and even occasionally interfering with our control over nuclear armed ICBMs–is that while we currently pose no threat to such extraterrestrials, given the explosive growth rate of our technology (unbeknownst to most of us, we may perhaps be approaching some sort of technological critical mass or “Singularity”) we may soon grow to become such a potential threat.

Perhaps extraterrestrials can see this possibility looming ahead, are monitoring our progress, and may be in the process of taking actions to make sure that we don’t become such a threat.

  2. “But I consider that wrong. To slander a dead man, Stalin, as if he had said this. In the first place, Meretskov is inaccurate, you can’t trust him on this. Stalin called him “Yaroslavets.” Why “Yaroslavets”? People in Yaroslavl were so shifty, he said, that there were almost no Jews. Russians themselves played such roles and one of them was Meretskov.”

Never having been to Yaroslavl, I couldn’t possibly comment.

Meretskov had the last laugh by dying in his bed.

    A book worth reading, anyway.

  3. Zaphod:

    Temple Grandin is a-mazing.

She’s the autistic aunt I always wanted.

  4. @Huxley:

    Isn’t she!

Have to give YouTube its due despite evils of censorship and algos.

  5. Another review of Charles Murray’s Swan Song, Facing Reality: Two Truths About Race in America:

“Further, facts and reason are not how one deals with a partisan. This is something the long struggle with communism should have taught guys like Murray. Instead, this generation of so-called conservatives stubbornly clings to the childish notion that their ideas alone will defeat the left. They think if they present the facts the right way, their opponents will throw down their weapons and embrace them as brothers.

Given his age, this will probably be Murray’s last book, and it is a fitting end to his career and his generation’s politics. A determined unwillingness to accept the reality of partisan politics and the unwillingness to defend the institutions of society are where the blame lies for the current crisis. Those who survive the looming demographic catastrophe and begin the task of rebuilding the West will look back at this book and wonder why it ever needed to be written.”

  6. Should FEMA or Homeland Security ever happen put her on retainer, I’d suggest it’s time to head for the hills.

  7. Art Deco:

I’m shocked as well that Mr. Taite revealed so much about himself.

    “Gambling? I’m shocked!”
