Senator Tim Scott must have made a good speech last night because afterwards “Uncle Tim” was trending on Twitter — 67 Comments

  1. Twitter’s earnings report just out didn’t go well. Stock down 10% after hours.

  2. I’m wondering if Twitter would have left all 5,603 tweets in place if Scott had been a Democrat Senator. No, I’m not really wondering. Just making note of their duplicity.

  3. The race thing probably has an expiration date around the next election if the result suggests it isn’t working except among suburban white women and girls.

  4. I liked what Scott had to say in the brief excerpts I saw. That said, a number of commenters have suspicions that Scott is another Lindsey Graham. If so, he’s only a conservative when it suits him.

  5. The same theme as we saw throughout the Trump presidency:

Accuse Trump of something vile (and made-up), Trump responds with an effective counter-punch going straight to the credibility of the accuser, progressive left accuser then unleashes something far worse and more offending than the original vile thing they accused Trump of.

It’s going to be a little hard to downplay this one I think. You can’t accuse a country of ‘system racism’ and ‘white supremacy’ and then call a black person who objects an Uncle T*m. There’s just not enough separation to hide behind.

  6. If anyone here thinks this is going to backfire and hurt the Left, they’re a bit delusional.

If there are some few ‘Conservative’ Blacks, well good for them and they can be allies. In an ideal world they’d be on the other side of town keeping the rest of the Blacks in line and doing whatever little possible to lead them kicking and screaming toward the light.

As Talismans for White ‘Conservatives’ to hold up to show their commitment to ‘Diversity’ and to somehow hold a candle to Progressive Hypocrisy… It just doesn’t work. It obviously doesn’t work… and it obviously can’t work. The Left *OWNS* the culture and all the other high ground. They can change the rules of engagement and discourse any time they like.

The only way to beat them is to change the game and the rules. First step is to stop searching for Our Blacks to make statements with. It’s a nice warm feeling for some and lucrative for Blacks involved but doesn’t do anything for anyone really in the end. If you’re going to be called a Racist no matter how much you cringe and grovel, might as well embrace it and start talking about the Black Tax on quality of life for all Americans, Demographic replacement via the Mexican Border, etc.

Someone above mentioned White Female Voters changing their minds. They will never do this while White Men cringe and kneel before their oppressors. Even if men stood up, it’s still not a given because women for all their bleating about independence cleave to the strong authority figure who can protect them: except in modern world it’s the State. All that will happen is that the State will destroy local policing and make the wimminz feel the fear and then State will offer to federalize being able to sleep peacefully at night and there will be one huge estrogenic wave of votes for *that* Enabling Act and game over.

A thousand Clarence Thomases won’t make one iota of difference.

  7. “Twitter’s earnings report just out didn’t go well. Stock down 10% after hours”
Thanks for making my day! 🙂 🙂

There’s a lady who is trying to build an “armchair army” of beginning activists who are only comfortable with sending emails and such rather than going toe to toe with Antifa in the streets.
Her action item for this week was to send an email to Sen Scott to express support for the Biden Rebuttal.

For anyone who wants to be on the mailing list (I think it’s been posted here a couple of times already)
    https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/Op6CMY6

It’s your choice when/if to participate, 75 Million and Rising

  8. Scott is “the only black Republican Senator.” Well, if it wasn’t for election fraud here in Michigan on the part of the Democrats John James would have been the second.

  9. Scott pushed for police body cams, worked on a police reform bill that was filibustered by the dems, and also proposed opportunity zones, so it does seems like he has tried to find solutions to problems.

  10. I did watch Tim Scott’s rebuttal speech, and thought it was well above average in quality for these GOP retorts. Hence …, hysteria and apoplexy on the left. If it was as bad as Bobby Jindal’s rebuttal, the MSM would all be saying, “Such a nice guy. Nice try at a speech Tim.”

Twitter’s earnings report just out didn’t go well. Stock down 10% after hours

Yeah but, Amazon, Alphabet, and Facebook all did extremely well. Facebook up 7.3%. I hate that, and I own some of FB.

  11. @Kate:

“Democrats were historically the party of racism. They still are.”

In the immortal words of Hilary Clinton, “What difference at this point does it make?”

Your statement is equivalent to some Muslim saying ‘Peace be upon Him’ ever time mention is made of Mohammed. It’s reflexive. Do you think you will change a single mind with this utterance?

Facts don’t matter very much right now. It’s nice to have our esteemed Hostess here to collate and enumerate them and apply some forensic wit to them… But I imagine even she has likely realised since at least 2016 that you can’t win political arguments with facts. Facts and Logic stand zero chance against Rhetoric. Can you imagine our other esteemed commentator Art+Deco going head to head with Goebbels?

Whatever you do or say, you have been deemed by the Powers that Be to be a Racist. Nothing you do or say will change that until you start sending lead downrange.

What you ought to be saying are things which encourage in-group strength and loyalties amongst your fellow whites. Otherwise you will most definitely hang separately. Now ask yourself, in what way does ‘Dems are the Real Racists’ give strength, hope, and encouragement to your people? I’m not telling you what to say. I am suggesting that historical truth won’t help you one wit in the mythical Public Square.

  12. Tim Scott could well be a wonderful noble human being.

Putting him front and centre to rebut is, however, Taking the Knee. It’s a colossal Kowtow, granting of Prog Premises, and admission of guilt by inference.

Nobody Respects a weak and pathetic Cuck — not Tim Scott, but the Republican Party.

  13. Zaphod, Americans are “my people.” Some of them are white, some are black, and some are Asian. Turning us into competing tribes is what they want. I don’t want to play that game.

  14. Shorter version of Zaphod:

Humans will always only be tribal so best to isolate with your tribe.

“If you’re going to be called a Racist no matter how much you cringe and grovel, might as well embrace it…”

I’ve never practiced Mr. Godwin’s immutable law on the Internet, but I’m finding it hard not to end that streak here. I think I know where statements like the above lead.

Things were tribal in AD33 but 12 Jews from a remote, Roman outpost, along with a recruit named Saul, risked their lives to encourage people of all nationalities and colors to love one another, even their enemies. They mostly all ended up being killed for speaking out. Fool’s errand. Their ideas never went anywhere and they are nearly completely unknown today. Their main persecutors, the Pharisees, who preached segregation and disassociating with the “unclean” had their word catch fire across the nations, leading to a modern day movement of over 2 billion adherents.

  15. Zaphod,
You could well be correct. But if the Tim Scott speech was so inconsequential, why was a Twitter and MSM explosion necessary? I think much of the woke crap is real because I can see it with my own eyes in my community.

But when it comes to anything remotely akin to a “social media consensus of opinion” I am skeptical. I know there is a great deal of malicious software engineering created and promulgated by our insect overlords in Silicon Valley.

I also think “tipping points” are very real, given the herd mentality of human societies. Social momentum looks invincible right up to the point it collapses.

I am not sure where we are now. But I am keeping an open mind.

  16. Y’all can pick on Zaphod…and sometimes deservedly, but at many points he’s not wrong.

    – Yelling “HYPOCRITE!!!!!” at the marxo-fascist left is like yelling at the clouds.
    – Throwing the perhaps wonderful Tim Scott in front of the camera for a “see we like black people too & some of them are just like us” moment will only get him vilified by the racist left (black & white) and make him a target of the coming wave of violence.
    – The marxo-fascist left does in fact OWN the visual/media battleground and has proven over & over again to make “the narrative” stick in spite of the truth, facts or expert testimony to the contrary.
    – Rufus is spot on…only the Kingdom of God prevails in the end & I’ll stand on that promise against all comers…

But at the same time I know the kingdoms of this world will rage against all that is good & beautiful & true…and as much as I hate it…each of us needs to decide which hill is worth dying on & pull together the folks we think are worth dying with and think long and hard…
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be rememberèd—
    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
    Shall be my brother…

  17. @Rufus:

The ones who remained tribal and did not marry out dominate Media, Finance, and the commanding heights of the Law in the Current Year. They even get to have their own special nuclear-armed little country with a some nice big border walls and an ethnocentric (‘racist’ I guess you would have to call it) immigration policy to die for.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that ™.

I just would like to see my people do the same and look after their own group interests rather than commit demographic suicide in the name of some false gods like Diversity, Individualism and Universalism. Fair’s fair.

And no… I’m not a Nazi. Although if I’m going to be called one, I’m not going to waste any time groveling to prove that I’m not.

  18. TommyJay,

Yes, but I think Twitter is a weak play. It is just a bunch of media types and activists going at it all day and too many people think Twitter is real life. At least Facebook has a broader reach whatever you think of them. Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft at least they actually do something. They have way too much power and control though that is for sure especially Alphabet.

  19. @Griffin:

    This is Twitter:

    https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/photo/1936-poster-all-of-germany-listens-to-the-fuehrer-with-the-peoples-radio

I would not discount it one iota. It needs to be burned to the ground.

In the meantime, you should all be looking at Gab. Yes, you will find Anti-Semites and out-and-out Racists posting there along with Civnats and Libertarian Morons and even Normal People. Nobody forces anyone to follow anyone they don’t like and the risk of seeing something offensive is part of the Free Speech Deal.

Presumably everyone posting here is mature enough to handle truly free speech — although most of us have never actually seen it at work in our lifetimes.

BTW, the People’s Receiver just like the People’s Car (which many of you aging hippies would have gotten about in back in the days) were pure genius. Nowadays we all carry around the People’s Phone cum Surveillance Device.

  20. Diversity (i.e. color judgment), inequity, and exclusion, under a Rainbow banner of exclusive inclusion (i.e. political congruence or “=”).

  21. Agreed Griffin.
I actually had a little hope for Zuckerberg not too long ago. It was in the early or middle phase of the 2020 presidential campaign that Mark said that all candidates will have unobstructed access to paid advertising on Facebook. He said that in spite of substantial pressures to tilt that playing field. Then a couple months later it all went to hell. Dorsey says a lot of stuff that doesn’t mean sh_t also.

Then there was the Chan-Zuckerberg $400M election perverting spending binge. And then I discovered that the California state Office of Election Cybersecurity had been feeding Facebook a secret Democrat Party enemies list and database of “misinformation” posts slated for deletion. Zuckerberg now makes my insect-overlord list.

  22. Zaphod wrote, “I just would like to see my people…”

“My” people are the human race.

  23. Tim Scott gave an excellent prepared speech. It was a bridge building exercise. Tim came from the Nikki Hailey camp. She elevated him to the Senate where he has done a good job.

But he has voted to confirm many of Biden most radical appointees. For this I do hold it against him. We should be forcing EVERY Biden nominee to be confirmed only by Democrats and have Harris actually present to vote. I read the excerpts from the word salad speech.

This is a dangerous time and we have to resist, educate and work to stop this agenda. Read below and go hmmm.

    https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2021/04/liberation-dachau-and-holocaust-lessons-we-havent-don-feder/

  24. Rufus – “My” people are the human race.

    Absolutely and completely agree.

  25. @Rufus: “My” people are the human race.

Well that’s certainly taking the Long View.

I’m sure the Mongols were struck dumb by such a profound insight and went back to herding.

Should Aliens happen to attack earth at 9pm tonight, I’d go along with you, too. Until then, nope.

  26. Which part of “Look to your own ethnic group’s interests first” do some of you here not understand? It doesn’t imply or require exterminating other groups. There is nothing wrong with standing up for and together with your own. If you don’t, you will inevitably be subjugated by people who *do* look to their own ethnic interests first.

Do you seriously believe that standing by your principles makes one iota of difference to competing ethnic groups who do not subscribe to your suicidal altruism?

You *will* all be Section Eight-ed very shortly, if not worse. You cannot fight this on Constitutional or other Legal grounds. You can’t be so stupid to think that you still can. You’re going to need to make common cause with fellow white people and possibly some of the more civilized other groups to keep the animals away from your wives, children, and grandchildren. There is no magic formula lets you do this without talking about race, so the sooner you do, the better.

  27. Why is it that no one is talking about reparations from the DNC? It’s the Democrats who fought for slavery, promulgated Jim Crow laws, separate but equal and the KKK. At the very least the DNC owes the US in general, and Blacks specifically, a formal apology. And then to give meaning to the apology, reparations. It would be therapeutic for Democrats to do this. They keep casting about for villains because deep down they know it was their party that created the racist atmosphere that our nation still has to deal with.

  28. @Eva Marie:

They don’t know deep down and even if they did know, they don’t care. What they care about is Power.

Until you start to care more about Power than about correctness point-scoring, they will carry on with their program.

Do you or those you associate with have it in you to seek power to defeat and trample upon your enemies?

  29. I was impressed that Trump made inroads with black and Hispanic voters. I figured the idea looked good on paper, but was a lost cause. I imagine Trump’s success made him doubly dangerous to the left.

I’m not sure what works anymore. Leaving aside questions of principle and taking Zaphod’s point against Tim Scott on a pragmatic basis, I don’t know how to score that either.

Did Republicans play the Democrats’ game by having a black man rebut Biden and thereby show weakness? Or did Scott’s appearance chip away at Democrats’ support among swing voters and blacks?

  30. @TommyJay:

If it’s going to be hyperbole, here is your Nation Founded Upon Principles about right now:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Raft_of_the_Medusa#/media/File:JEAN_LOUIS_TH%C3%89ODORE_G%C3%89RICAULT_-_La_Balsa_de_la_Medusa_(Museo_del_Louvre,_1818-19).jpg

If those Principles are so great, why are we all here in this present state? Oh… because the people didn’t stick to them? Because they were never properly applied? Golly gee… Seems to me that if your Principles can’t keep you and your People on the right track, they aren’t very useful Principles. Must. Try. Harder.

  31. Republicans in general, and I specifically, do not want power. We want freedom. We want power in the hands of as many people – regardless of their ethnicity – as possible. The GOP has played the power game and lost us Trumpers in the process.

  32. @Eva Marie:

How do you think you can get or maintain freedom without Power.

    Please draw me a diagram.

If you and people like you don’t have Power, then others will tell you what to do and make you do what they want. It’s that simple. You were born and lived your life during a rare ahistorical dream period when the Old Rules appeared to you not to apply. Reality has returned like an oncoming train and we all need to wake up from these dreams.

The spreading Power around and diluting it approach doesn’t work just at present. Separation of Powers and Subsidiarity and Due Process are beautiful ideals and ones that ought to have a future, but to get from here to there is going to take some rough stuff — which by definition involves seizure of Power.

  33. Zaphod:

What does your plan look like?

Great Gericault painting btw. Hadn’t seen it. Wiki says he painted that at 27.

  34. Zaphod it’s you who are playing into the hands of the power hungry Democrats. And it’s a losing position.

  35. @Huxley:

Far too early to have a plan and I’m no great strategist. But can see what is clearly not working.

Start small and local, I think. The correct response to Tranny Story Hour, gun grabs, Section 8, rampant third world immigrants is going to have to involve making neighbourhoods, towns, and counties no-go areas for the offending individuals. Freedom of Association will have to make a return. That’s going to mean in some cases that (e.g.) Blacks can’t live in White areas and Whites can’t live in Black areas. So much the better: good fences make good neighbours. Work up from there and learn from mistakes. There will be much hurt and many martyrs, and yes, gross injustices in the doing of this. The only other alternative is to bend necks to the yoke.

Idealist Overreach makes people feel good in the instant but causes tragedy in the longer term. We humans have to be more realistic about what we really are and our capabilities.

  36. Zaphod:

That gives me a better idea of what you’re talking about. Though I don’t see how racial lines get drawn in neighborhoods at this point.

My idea would be to take Critical Race Theory head on and use the Constitution to end the war on whites, males and Christians.

My pronouns are beep/bop/boop. (Stole that from Gina Carano.) I identify as an R2D2 droid, if anyone needs to know.

  37. The transnational Marxists are stoking race identity hatred against conservatives and non-BIPOCs (which don’t include Asians it appears) and the ChiComs (champions of the Han?) are feeding that to weaken the USA. And here we have the “realist” or “pragmatic” or whatever Zaphod is, feeding on that, and his childhood experiences of Africa and black nationalist Marxism? All the while Zaphod makes his living as an expat in Hong Kong. Who has skin in this USA game after all?

And then Zaphod says come over to Gab for ‘real free speech,’ something about staring at the monster or into the abyss, and it staring back.

Parler has been back up for a while now.

  38. @om:

I don’t have skin in your game right now.

Were I to go back to ‘my’ country, I’m not even allowed to bear arms. Frankly, I’m freer to think what I want and do what I want here than I would be there.

Always with the Bogeymen: You get off on The Yellow Peril… I am less than a totally committed fan of the relentless Tikkuning of the Poor Bloody Olam or Ghetto Thuggery.. but neither of these or any other factors signify much beside the utter supine cuckedness of White People who are just sitting around waiting for something better to come along; it won’t if they don’t do something with their bare hands and some other implements.

The first words of the Chinky National Anthem (not an attractive tune at all) translate literally as ‘Stand Up!’ (Arise, obviously). You can learn from enemies, too, you know.

If Parler is your Safe Space, more power to you. I prefer to see all sides to be less surprised later.

  39. @Huxley:

In Soviet Russia, Racial Lines Draw You.

Pre-emption is half the cure 🙂

Race is a broad brush. Exceptions on a case-by-case basis (very White kind of trait, making exceptions, at that). If the balloon goes up, there might be too much cognitive overload though –> skin == uniform.

Saw a pic in a YouTube montage the other day of the Little Guy inside R2D2 with the lid off munching on a sandwich during a filming break.

  40. Saw a pic in a YouTube montage the other day of the Little Guy inside R2D2 with the lid off munching on a sandwich during a filming break.

    Zaphod:

    My people!

  41. Zaphod:

So don’t play with matches and gasoline in my country. Or in the west for that matter. The ChiComs won’t mind though, they play a long game IIRC.

It isn’t about “getting off on the Yellow Peril.” People wiser than you have been paying attention to the ChiComs ambitions. Those people aren’t the Bidens, or is that too much trouble for your notice.

Stay in Hong Kong as long as you can, just be careful what you say in that bastion of freedom. Wouldn’t your minders to notice you.

  42. “The ones who remained tribal and did not marry out dominate Media, Finance, and the commanding heights of the Law in the Current Year.”

they have mostly married out Baal Peer style like Zuck

  43. @avi:

To be fair to you guys, you can take a very wide pass on Zuck. Be unfair to not let you disown him. I for one do not want to see Alien Lizard people impersonating Jews and defaming them.

His Classicist manqué sister, though, we’re going to have to hang *her* around your collective wandering necks like the Albatross. Just Because 🙂

  44. @huxley:

A few years back had a dinner meeting with a Carnival Impresario of the old school who was looking for investors. Turns out that Carnivals are just the thing in the age of Social Proof Selfies; you can’t fake attendance.

This guy had all the right contacts amongst English and Continental Carny Folk — some of whom are multi-generational multi-millionaires — the types who own Big Iron sideshow machinery. All the background was fascinating, but cutting to the chase:

During chat he mentioned adding colour with wandering street performers, Fire Eaters, Jugglers, Dwarf Tumblers, etc. Being of a subtle and refined nature, I immediately inquired whether there would be any firing of Dwarves out of canons or trebuchets and other similarly edifying spectacles of a ballistic nature. He replied that in this instance he thought not. Cue an interesting digression on a major tectonic split in the international fraternity of Little Circus People: some are more than happy to be projectiles, and some of a more SJW bent take great offence at the very suggestion. He said that he had a special field in his contacts database just so that he never made the mistake of pitching the wrong contract to the wrong performer.

Having covered much ground in this thread, from Uncle Toms, to Absolution by Magical Negros, to Nazis to Dwarves, it’s only fitting to end up with the Ovitz Family.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ovitz_family#Auschwitz

It’s fair to say that they did not have a Good War, but they did miraculously manage to survive the attentions of Dr Mengele by being unusual subjects.

  45. “Can you imagine our other esteemed commentator Art+Deco going head to head with Goebbels?”

    ?

  46. Edward William Brooke III (October 26, 1919 – January 3, 2015) was an American Republican politician. In 1966, he became the first African American popularly elected to the United States Senate. He represented Massachusetts in the Senate from 1967 to 1979.–Wiki

  47. @Art+Deco:

Someone further up the thread was making some logical argument about Why the Democrats are Wrong. I was pointing out that taking a Logical Knife to a Rhetorical Gun Fight in the current year would be like putting you and your facts and figures up against Goebbels.

“Let me see now.. My figures here show that Jews own only 35% of all department stores and not the 70% you claim.”

*Goebbels whips out his Browning and pops a cap in you*

In trying to sway popular opinion, Truth is a commodity to be manufactured, not mined. Best to be a bit circumspect when the laws of physics are involved, but they’re not at the ballot box.

  48. @BobSykes:

He co-wrote the Civil Rights Act of 1968 meaning that you can’t decide who lives in your building or neighbourhood anymore — and later made a nice retirement living grafting off developer compliance consulting.

Got a Bronze Star in Italy and made Captain. All credit for that.

  49. i was pointing out that taking a Logical Knife to a Rhetorical Gun Fight in the current year would be like putting you and your facts and figures up against Goebbels.

Goebbles was in charge of a government ministry which had an affiliate secret police force. You’re a combox Dunning-Kruger exemplar.

  50. Zaphod,

The Raft of the Medusa is interesting. Chaos and desperation among a diverse group and a terrible lack of response by the French gov. I thought you were going for something more like this,

    Giovanni da Verrazzano
There are conflicting accounts of Verrazzano’s demise. In one version, during his third voyage to North America in 1528, after he had explored Florida, the Bahamas, and the Lesser Antilles, Verrazzano anchored out to sea and rowed ashore, probably on the island of Guadeloupe. He was allegedly killed and eaten by the native Caribs. The fleet of two or three ships was anchored out of gunshot range, and no one could respond in time.

    Or this,
    Jim Elliot
There [Ecuador] they were approached one time by a small group of Huaorani and even gave an airplane ride to one curious Huaorani whom they called “George”. Encouraged by these friendly encounters, they began plans to visit the Huaorani. Their plans were preempted by the arrival of a larger group of about 10 Huaorani warriors, who killed Elliot and his four companions on January 8, 1956. Jim Elliot was the first of the five missionaries killed when he and Peter Fleming were greeting two of those attackers. Elliot’s body was found downstream, along with those of the other men, except that of Ed McCully which was found even farther downstream.

His journal entry for October 28, 1949, expresses his belief that work dedicated to Jesus was more important than his life …
    ____

After his death, his wife Elisabeth Elliot and other missionaries began working among the Huaorani, where they continued evangelistic work.

    Imagine that.

  51. ” Whites would do well to learn and emulate.”

Not if it means dancing in a goddamned circle like some effen zombie on amphetamines.

Now, while some people seem to experience a near sexual delirium just thinking about synchronous mass activities, in such a situation my brain starts to float up near the ceiling, and I feel as though I am looking at something distinctly alien and peculiar. “Where the hell do they get off acting like that? Have they no sense of pride or dignity? Why would they even want to act like that?

So speaking of the class of persons potentially denominated as “my people”, I am not sure who they might turn out to be.

That said, just as in the case where the saying (Neo’s oft cited) “You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you” applies, so too might be a somewhat parallel case in which relentlessly demonized young Caucasian males begin to notice that no matter who far they withdraw into the world of video games, the world they shun is still interested in them – or rather in their neutering and unconditional submission to the “gurl power” exercised by the progressive neurotics of all 57 billion genders.

When you just cannot physically back up any further and still keep breathing, then the selection becomes rather stark, and one is likely to shrug and say, ” … to hell with the old paradigm, if this it where it leads.”

It is kind of hard to keep up a belief in one humanity, simply by noticing the fact that some ostensible males actively seek to be penetrated in ways which a normal man would feel justified in killing to prevent or revenge even the attempt. Does this varying lack of personal boundaries bleed over into politics?

I cannot imagine how it would not. And remembering some of the puzzlingly malicious, arch, and attention seeking sons of bitches in high school who years later turned out later to have been homosexuals, I cannot imagine how the personal does not in some way manifest as the social, and then political.

Hell, even Jonathan Haidt has noticed the slide from our old honor culture to our present state of affairs as part of a change in deep rooted psycho-moral dispositions. Which I think, could be argued to be linked to personality.

That said, I think we all also agree that no monoculture necessarily leads per se to the achievement of the peaceable kingdom.

‘Hrafnkell Priest of Frey’, and other Norse sagas are testimony enough to that.

I suppose if you had people who actually liked each other, it might be another thing.

  52. I did not hear the Tim Scott talk. I do not know what his baseline convictions are, or what hill he would choose to die upon, if forced.

However, as a matter of observing a particular social phenomenon, I would have to acknowledge that when Zaphod says that some Republicans seem to drop any critical distance and get all giddy when a man says something they agree with, he has at least half a point or more.

Not that Democrats are not worse. That is how a man with no credentials or experience, and as questionable a background as Obama, got elected: excitable hand-flapping people trying to catch what they supposed was an historical wave,

On the Republican side it was somewhat similar with Colin Powell. No one really knew what his policy views were or what his political philosophy was. But he was a registered Republican, and African American, and a distinguished military figure, and so that was enough reason for them to get excited.

McCain met two of those criteria and what a piece of treacherous self-serving and hateful work he proved to be.

I think, that what we need is more thinking, and less excitability.

  53. There are plenty in this world who have inoculated themselves to facts, but there are still enough people in the world who are persuadable by them. Let’s not toss the baby out yet.

Now, by all appearances the fact-impervious types do seem to be in charge, so facts, logic, and well-reasoned arguments aren’t the only tools we should use. Say what you want about Alinsky, the man understood the psychology of activism, and humans in general. “Make them live up to their own rules.” It’s powerful, and the Left has created an impossible set of rules and dogma to live up to.

So how to do it? Take the old counter-intel motto to heart – admit nothing, deny everything, make counter accusations. Call them everything they call us. Jump out in front, control the flow of information accusations. Call them racists, nonstop. Bring the conversation and dialog to a screeching halt. If they’re not moving forward, they’re not moving forward. Make “the
    conversation” impossible.

To them, racism is the ultimate, unforgivable sin. The Right is constantly bogged down with defending themselves from bogus accusations. Don’t ignore it. Don’t shrug it off. Redirect every single bullshit accusation back to them. When they’re defending, they can’t play offense.

Note, this is only a rhetorical device, not a comprehensive plan.

  54. JimNorCal,

“There’s a lady who is trying to build an “armchair army” of beginning activists who are only comfortable with sending emails and such rather than going toe to toe with Antifa in the streets.
Her action item for this week was to send an email to Sen Scott to express support for the Biden Rebuttal.”

Who is this lady? What is her organization? Why should I trust her?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m itching to get down with the cause, but recent history has presented a bunch of grifters (or worse) trying to tap the energy of the Right for personal gain…or prosecution.

    Cite?

But, for giggles, let’s assume you’re correct. Why did Twitter allow it to trend?

  57. @gmmay70:

    “Cite?”

Bad News. You get a bullet in the back of the head down in the cellar for asking for citation. Continental Scale Shibboleth Fail. Only Bugpeople do that.

“Why did Twitter allow it to trend?”

Good News. You have just been posthumously the Stalin Prize for asking the most pertinent question in this thread.

  58. @FOAF: z’s “tribe” consists of one person

It’s that stiff-necked Groucho Marx strain which runs quite ironically in my veins — on a good day with the wind from right direction I would have dodged the Nuremberg Laws. But only just.
