John Sullivan is a person of some interest — 31 Comments

  1. Reliable sources on the left say he is an agent with ties to the far right. Yeah and Antifa is “anti-fascist.”

It was precious that his defense attorney said his first amendment rights would be violated if he couldn’t use the internet. What, did he have a Parler account (99.999% nope)? Was he posting his videos on ScrewTube or Fakebook (probably). Was he banned from either for his actions in Provo or Portland (I doubt it)?

What is a magistrate to do? Well if it was before Multnomah County DA, that would be nothing. But in Utah he gets an ankle bracelet and gets told to find a real job (until the wheels of justice render their decision). Pays to be a POC it seems? Sucks to be non-BIPOC, Ashli Babbit RIP.

  2. Neo…
The last sentence sums it up. John Sullivan is working the streets/making his bones to hopefully be the heir apparent to Rev Al Sharpton. He sees money and fame.

I’ll give odds that at worst he’ll be convicted of some minor charge and wear it as badge of honor. Not do a day of time. At best he’ll walk free.

Another case of overwhelming evidence that will go away!

  3. His brother, James Sullivan, has repeatedly said John is a member of Antifa on his Facebook page, and he did so well before the Capitol event. They do not agree politically at all.

Which gets me thinking… according to the left, John is a right winger who is disguising himself as a leftist, who then told cnn he was a neutral journalist disguising himself as a rightwinger to avoid getting beaten up at the rally. Does that mean his brother is really a leftist pretending to be a rightwinger in order to accuse John of being a leftist for….reasons?

Good lord, I don’t see how they manage that kind of convoluted nonsense.

  4. The center is conservative. The right is libertarian. The far right is anarchist (left-right nexus) is leftist.

  5. Suulivan seems to be the Zelig of violent demonstrations – here, there, and everywhere, all things to all people. If I had to guess I’d say he leans more to the left, but I don’t think politics is a big motivator for him or even much of a motivator at all. My sense is that he’s mostly a hustler who is drunk on the prospect of stirring up violence and then gaining some fame by reporting on it.

Or he’s an agent provacateur employed by the FBI. I have to hand it to James Comey, Andrew McCabe, and Peter Sztrok. They’ve persuaded committed conservatives that their agency needs to be ‘bulldozed and rebuilt from the ground up’ in the words of one irate Republican with whom I correspond.

  6. I can’t recommend this video enough where war correspondent Michael Yon is the interviewee. If you don’t know who Yon is, check out his bio. Ex-Special Forces who has reported from Iraq, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Portland, etc. He was at the D.C. event and his observations are very educational in regards to how ANTIFA agent provocateurs helped drive the events there.

  7. n.n. – Picture this in graphical form: It is circular, not linear. From the center, move left or right and you circle around to where the extremes of either meet, with their common ground being violent obstruction of an orderly society. The reason for the violence is secondary.

Neo’s analogy of the fire-bug starting fires so he can watch the fire rigs drive up and fight the fire is a very good one.

  8. Not to worry. Retired Lt. Gen Russel “Stuck on Stupid” Honoré will lead a commission that will uncover all of the Trump Terrorists responsible for this crime. According to some Congress Critters it’s only by the grace of God that they weren’t all murdered by the blood thirsty mob. Apparently even AOC feared that Roll Over Party Congress Critters isolated with her would do her harm.

    Justice for Ashli Babbitt!

  9. Most of the “Trump Terrorists” arrested so far seem to be people who got lured into the Capitol and had their picture taken. One is a two time Olympic gold medalist from USC who made the mistake of wearing his Olympic jacket. The cadre that led the riot will, of course, vanish into the same ether that most Antifa occupy. In fact, many are school teachers, which should give us pause.

  10. Another Mike: linear and not circular – left moves left until it hits total control. Right moves right until it reaches anarchy. A state of anarchy might make a person yearn for total control but it’s has nothing in common with it.

  11. Circular. I have always agreed with that premise.
Anarchy is a by product until Left or (extreme) Right reaches total control. One might even say that it is a tactic . They use stooges to stage anarchy, and use that situation to justify grabbing control.

  12. Neo’s suggestion that Sullivan might be like a fire bug is interesting and thought provoking. If true, he would be a type of nut or sociopath, and a serious antifa organization would not someone like him in any position of leadership. But why couldn’t Sullivan be a nut and an antifa foot soldier or “associate?”

When making generalizations about groups of people there is a natural tendency to think of group X as being monolithic, which it almost never is.

Ages ago, I read some discussion about the far left being organized in a hierarchy that was described as being broken into the red, orange, and yellow levels. Since I don’t recall any of those details, here is a simplified version of the typical mafia hierarchy in chart form.

    Basic Mafic Hierarchy

If John Sullivan’s brother says he is antifa weeks before the Capitol riots, then he is most likely antifa, or an antifa wannbe or associate.

Finally, the antifa logo is a red flag overlaying a black flag, or communists working hand in glove with anarchists, in spite of the fact that those two groups usually hate each other guts. (The enemy of my enemy is my friend.)

Anarchists almost always hide who they are and usually pretend to be something else. (This was a fundamental tenet of anarchist founder Blanqui who got tied of spending his life in prison.) Traditionally, some of the European labor groups were fronts for anarchist groups. An exception has been Greece in recent decades where it has become fashionable to be associated with anarchists. But only non-violent anarchism according to interviews with their news media. (Hmm, sure.)

  13. Oldflyer: there are 2 camps. I belong to the linear camp. The reason that circular seems to be logical is because lefties put religions on the right. But religions can also be put on a linear continuum. Protestantism belongs on the right of the control/anarchy spectrum while Catholicism belongs on the left of the spectrum.

  14. I wonder if any of the people the FBI are picking up for the Capital hill “revolution” will be charged by the Slo Joe DOJ, after all they already indicted President Trump for the crimes.

  15. Law and order is another issue that lefties push on the right. But that issue belongs on both sides. Law and order that advances personal liberty belongs on the right. Law and order that advances the power of the state belongs on the left.

  16. Interesting that Aaron Mostofsky, one other capital intruder who has been identified was reported in one story, but not others, as being a life long Democrat. His father is a Democrat appointed
Superior Court Judge in NY. Now that he has been busted he is professing to be a Trump supporter.

He was dressed so bizarrely, that one could speculate that he intended to be arrested; and then give “false flag” testament.

He has been released, of course. At least one account suggests that he was only charged with theft for the police armored vest that he purloined. Since sedition or insurrection charges only apply to Trump, and his proven supporters, this increases suspicions that Mostofsky was an agent provocateur.

  17. At least one account suggests that he was only charged with theft for the police armored vest that he purloined.

Yes, I saw his photo and am not surprised he is free. Remember the young man who charged Trump’s platform in Ohio in 2016 was the son of a politician. He ended up in CNN being interviewed.

  18. And thanks to him, he enabled the incoming criminal enterprise to set up martial law in our nation’s capital. 20,000 National Guard, etc., setting up road blocks and military check points. So you have to show ID to both enter and exit DC 5 days before the installation of a fraud? Under what basis? Such roadblocks constitute illegal searches in violation of the 4th Amendment.

  19. John Sullivan is a bit player in a vastly larger drama. One small tree in a vast forest. Antifa is made up of the John Sullivan type. The type that just wants to see the world burn.

They are the cannon fodder of the left. Neither they nor BLM troops are the left’s true brownshirts.

The left’s real brownshirts are employed by the Feds.

  20. I’m currently leaning more toward the “attention-seeking hustler” diagnosis.

I watched all of his video (linked on this blog in an earlier post, I believe) because I wanted to see how it matched up with the Infowars video I saw earlier.

Although you can cherry-pick some statements from him like “burn it down” and whatever, most of his running commentary is much more “woo hoo” than “get ’em”, so to speak.

If anyone were agents provocateur, I would say it was the two tall men identically dressed in camo jackets, helmets and gas masks we see in the video well before they get to the House chamber doors. They’re wearing patches that I can’t quite make out, but they’re definitely not police.

Also Pirelli T-Shirt Guy, who is the one who actually broke out the window Ashli Babbit climbed through. He first appears during the standoff outside the House chamber from behind the line of cops. He appears to be high on something, and several people including Sullivan try to get him to shut up and stop provoking everyone. PTSG is later seen actively trying to break down the Speaker’s Lobby doors, and then at some point exchanges his earflap hat for a black helmet which is what he uses to break the window.

Also, in Sullivan’s video we see that the cop who fired was aiming in the direction of the two men actively attacking the doors before shifting to shoot Babbit. I suppose he might be able to make out a “feared for his life” case from that, but the fact that around ten cops on the outside of the doors were doing nothing suggests that he overreacted.

Last, in the Infowars video after the shooting, the camera turns on Sullivan and his camera rig, where he says he got the whole thing, and his shock seems legitimate. In Sullivan’s video you can hear him talking to the Infowars guy as well.

  21. See shpiwreckedcrew’s article @redstate.com for a concise description of the process the Feds(DOJ) have to follow for Mr. Sullivan and anyone else who has returned home from DC after being involved in the Capitol incident, and who is facing charges

    Ashli Babbitt RIP.

    QAnon kills.

  22. I am banishing om for incitement to violence as well as potential treasonous behavior.

  23. }}} If I had to guess I’d say he leans more to the left, but I don’t think politics is a big motivator for him or even much of a motivator at all

My bet is, the vast majority, if not all, of those committing actual violence that day were like him at best — agents of chaos, having zero to do with “the right” or conservatives.
