Gavin Newsom Says California Will Stay On Lockdown Until Scientists Discover Cure For Death — 8 Comments

  1. The Bee is always funny. But, as usual, this has the ring of truth to it. The reaction to COVID-19 began as “prevent the hospitals from being overwhelmed” and rapidly became “no transmission of the virus to anyone, ever.” The first goal was achievable; the second is not.

  2. Sadly my Governor, Whitmer was not far off from this today. Quietly extending her “emergency” powers to Oct 1st. While at the same time loudly saying gyms would once again be able to open in a limited fashion. You can guess which is getting the most press here.

In the meantime anyone who wants to operate in a normal manner. Free of the ever changing un-reasoned whims of our Governor. Is shouted down by the mobs and press screaming we just want people to die for money.

  3. It’s possible to escape Navin Gruesome’s illegal orders; move. One month ago, we departed our former home near Sacramento, CA, and we’ve now moved to San Antonio, TX. It’s difficult and expensive to move, but between selling our Sacramento house and buying a larger but less expensive one in Texas, we’re going to come out pretty close to break-even, even when we add in moving expenses. And no income tax in Texas means that we’re going to be ahead for every year in the future.

Tempting fact: Gas in Sacramento was $3.19. Gas here in San Antonio is $1.69.

  4. Kenneth – Welcome to the Only True State!
(I’m from Texas; I only live in Colorado.)

If I could do internet memes (or afford billboards), I would make one for your fellow movers who are not fellow travelers (the Democrats running from their own creation).

(text superimposed over burning cities, power outage footage, poop piles on city streets, etc)

    Voting for Democrats
is what got you the things
    you moved here
    to get away from.
    Don’t Mess with Texas.
    Vote Republican.

  5. In 1956 my wife and I crossed the California border enroute to my duty station in San Diego. There was an ag inspection station. The ag inspector told us that about 2500 people a week were moving to California. It was the promised land in those days. Salubrious climate, fertile ag areas, magnificent coastline, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Hollywood, an aircraft industry, military bases, and more. The good life was there.

We lived there several times on military and airline moves and always loved the state. We moved back in 1985 with the intent of retiring there. After five years of rising taxes, increasing regulations, deteriorating infrastructure, an obvious problem with illegal aliens, and Democrat domination of the legislature; we saw the handwriting on the wall and left. It has always made us sad that such a wonderful state could be ruined by political policies. It’s a lesson that we should all learn from.

  6. Governor Cuomo can no longer be parodied, even by the Bee.

The Democrat party is clearly in a state of unfocused disarray. While the past week we watched them do a whiplash-style 180 on the violence seen in the protests, that attempt at having things both ways seems on brand. They have supported black lives save for those taken by protestors, at their convention they claimed they wanted to bring jobs back while Democrat governors arrest people who try to go back to work, no after supporting unrest they have decided that calling for peace is the way to go.

Following this pendulous swing in core values is New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. As many areas in the country are hopeful/eager/desperate to see our country open back up to normal life, New York City residents are just as ready. Only thing is the politicians need to be of the same mind. Andrew Cuomo has come forward with his plan on expanding the policy — he just needs an army of police to do so.

The governor has now come forward to declare that he is not going to open eateries up to indoor seating unless he can enforce the strict social distancing mandates. His call is to have 4,000 police officers made available for this assignment of chaperoning diners throughout the city. This is where another bout of political schizophrenia comes into play. Cuomo is looking to expand the purview of the police department at the exact time that his party – and specifically his own Mayor – are calling to have the police force defunded and pared down.

And we thought Michael Bloomberg was the “nanny” tyrant.
Does this mean that now NY’ers can have 32 oz. soft drinks on their restaurant tables as long as those tables are at least 6 ft. away from each other?

Perhaps someone will eventually show that aspartame in diet sodas kills the Covid-19 virus. That must be why I haven’t gotten it yet.
