Coleman Hughes on being a political changer – and on racism
I’ve written about Coleman Hughes before. He’s a young man with a good mind, and I often agree with about 97% of what he has to say (he has an antipathy to Trump, however, which I’ve written about here).
Hughes is a changer of sorts, from left to libertarian, which makes him somewhat conservative at present. Here’s his explanation of his political change, which for obvious reasons I find of particular interest:
Here’s the whole thing. Worth a watch if you have a bit more time:
Thank you Neo. This was well-worth my time. I think it would be especially good to send along to the millennials in my life that seem to be drinking the kool-aid.
Hughes said, paraphrasing, that his ideological changes were precipitated by a realization that, as a leftist, he was holding beliefs that contradicted each other, and that made him uncomfortable.
He didn’t specify what those beliefs were, but it is pretty easy to locate constellations that meet that criteria.
One that always makes me shake my head is the dissonance between (1) killing unborn children is an act of heroic virtue; but (2) executing heinous murderers is an act of unprecedented barbarity.
And now it’s okay (per the leftists) to kill innocent old folks with Covid, but dangerous criminals must be released from jail so they won’t get sick.
But then some of them become murderers.

I think bringing anti-abortion sentiment into this is a huge mistake, as it is a red flag to so many that short-circuits rational thinking and then dominates subsequent conversation to no good end.
Superiority complex a.k.a. diversity a.k.a. racism a.k.a. supremacism.
anti-[elective] abortion
Age discrimination. Life deemed unworthy of life. Denying life, debasing life for social progress, medical progress, and profit with progressive consequences. It’s a civil and human rights issue.
The Pro-Choice, selective, opportunistic quasi-religion (“ethics”) is a social justification of, among other things, diversity, not limited to racism.
