MIGA
From the stable genius a few days ago:
The noble people of Iran—who love America—deserve a government that's more interested in helping them achieve their dreams than killing them for demanding respect. Instead of leading Iran toward ruin, its leaders should abandon terror and Make Iran Great Again! https://t.co/RLjGsC5WLc

I think “Make Iran Great Again” is a brilliant slogan.
But have you noticed that no one’s talking about Iran anymore? I don’t mean literally no one, but I’m referring to the huge MSM brouhaha that had Trump leading us directly into WWIII by killing Suleimani, compared to the crickets now. When the MSM thought it would hurt Trump, it was all Iran all the time. But that didn’t happen fast enough, so the caravan has moved on to the impeachment trial.
One of the interesting differences in the media’s coverage of the two foes, Iran and Saudi Arabia, is the failure to account for the cultural distinctions. Both have odious regimes (in my mind, the Saudi is marginally worse), but a simple thought experiment will demonstrate how the two nations differ (as will searching for images of Iran in the 1960s). Simply put, a change of government In Iran might well lead to the emergence of a prosperous, stable country with an educated populace and a distinguished culture; the same cannot be said of the kingdom.
j e,
Culturally, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States are a throwback to feudal times. Certainly, their standards on human right, women’s rights, and just about everything are odious to most of us. But, exporting and sponsoring terrorism is not one of their sins. Whereas, it is the policy of the current Iranian regime. So, I have to dispute your conclusion.
On the other hand, I agree that Iran can become a successful country fairly quickly once they get out from under the current corrupt regime. My reading is that the vast majority long ago exhausted their religious fervor.
The Saudis aren’t actively pursuing nuclear weapons, only minor difference I’m sure. /s
The MSM is stinky with desperation.
The Venn diagram for commie bullshit and advertising revenue shows just a sliver of overlap. And it keeps getting smaller and smaller.
Technological innovation continues eating away at the power of the old Industrial Age ruling class institutions like mass media. Instapundit’s Army of Davids is already an effective countervailing force against the institutional bias of the major old media networks.
As the medium continues to change, the slow old dinosaurs will replaced by the quickly adapting newcomers.
The old networks appear to be circling the drain.

The intentional dismissal of coverage may have yet another cause: the President’s actions may be leading directly to changes in Iran and especially around the region in Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen resulting in the liberation of captive peoples! The Democrats and their lapdog press cannot publicly acknowledge Trump does well by his policy and actions. No. Run away, that’s their answer.
I take a brief look at CNN in my morning news check every day and I’m pretty sure that they don’t cover anything as a headline story if there isn’t some way to make it a “Trump bad!” story. Anything that – awful horrors! – would tend to make Trump look good is dropped like a hot lump of coal. At times, one needs to go to foreign news sites to find out what’s going on in the US.
MEGA: Make Eurasia Great Again.

And thus we segue to another Tom Lehrer ditty, although I would substitute “California” for “Alabama” today.

Never heard it before but I like it.
That old silver tongue DJT again.
And thanks for the edit key neo.
“The Lord’s our shepherd, says the psalm.
But just in case, we better get …”
Oh that Tom Lehrer.
Already past MLK day, but he also was perceptive in National Brotherhood Week.

“… and everybody hates the Jews”.
Plus a second song in the Old and Gray.
With a note about how, a few years later, “it doesn’t seem so funny anymore”.
He still hangs out at UC Santa Cruz (says Wiki).
Here are some more differences.
The Islamic Republic of Iran wants Death to America, and they have killed as many Americans as possible since they declared war on us in 1979. The Islamic Republic also wants Death to Israel and they have been working extremely hard on that, with military proxies surrounding the country (Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza; both created by the monster Soliemani, and now with Iran’s militias also in Syria, which Israel is beating back from its border on the Golan). The mullahs have the country in a death grip; the people want their country back. It is important to separate Iran, a country with a long history, and the Iranian people of today, from the evil Islamic Republic.
The Saudis have a poor track record but they have changed a lot lately. They clearly want to join the West, and have started taking steps toward becoming a more liberal society, allowing women to drive, etc. Yes, they have a long way to go but things are changing. The Saudis have detente with Israel — they just opened the country to Israeli travelers (hugely symbolic), and have sent a representative to the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. They also cooperate with Israel and the US on military strategy and tactics.
Saudi Arabia is an ally. The Islamic Republic of Iran is an enemy.
“Saudi Arabia is an ally. The Islamic Republic of Iran is an enemy.”
Good summary by Sarah Rolph above. Thanks for expanding on my comment.
MIGA is purposeful.
Firstly, because for the GOP to continue holding, consolidating and expanding its power, the economy must remain robust. The domestic economic scene will not continue to grow indefinitely, nor even for very long at all, on it’s own.
The solution to hold the momentum, is for everyone to be great.
Doesn’t have to happen evenly. Can be targeted, for different ends & reasons. Can be withheld from some entities … until they become more cooperative.
Sure. This was a designed-in element of MAGA, from 2015 and before.
MIGA…
Could this be a new ‘Tear down this wall’?
We can only hope.
Reagan’s speechwriters & consultants kept trying to take that line out as being too provocative; he insisted on keeping it.
Whether he actually “started” the events that ended with the downing of the Berlin Wall is disputed, but that it was a “myth” sounds to me like sour grapes by the Foreign Policy Establishment of the time.
Hmm. Sounds familiar.

Wikipedia was actually fairly well balanced, but I’m going to be careful with history.com from now on.
If you haven’t seen Trump’s Davos speech yet, take a look at it.
MAGA to the max!
But there were deeper reasons for Obama’s softening on Iran. Was it the influence of Valerie Jarrett, as so many people have said?
Some said different story:
