Biden’s been wanting the White House since at least his disastrous 1988 attempt. Obama was his opportunity to get the next in line spot, but Hillary muscled him out.
And then she lost.
This should finally be his time to shine. But instead he’s being hit with sunlight on what appears to be corruption that no one cared about four years ago.
I’d be testy, too. He’s probably never going to be president, and he knows it.
How is what Joe Biden did to the prosecutor theoretically not more guilty than whatever they are accusing trump of doing. There was never a direct quote in the conservation between Trump and the ukraine president that says repercussion will follow if investigation into Biden’s is not open. However, Biden in his own words clearly threatened to take away the aid if the firing of the prosecutor doesn’t follow immediately before his plane back to DC take off. How can the democrats justify Biden’s action but treating what Trump did as the gravest crime ever committed in the history of mankind?
I wish we can have an election every year, i hate that we can only make our voice heard every two years. Sitting listening to these lies while having no chance to rebuke ourselves and watching the house republicans asking softball questions refusing to cross examine is maddening.
I really want to see someone raise a simple question to the democrats that if it was Don Jr who got into trouble in Ukraine and Trump threatens to withhold the money if Ukraine president doesn’t fire the prosecutor immediately would that be an impeachable offense? If the answer is yes, then Trump had the probable cause to investigate into biden. if the answer is no, then explain to me why using quid pro quo to investigate an opponent is an abuse of power but using quid pro quo to save a son is not, ain’t both actions self serving as well?
Mo’ Malarkey.
“As a Catholic, I resent your using the word hate in a sentence that addresses me. I don’t hate anyone. I was raised in a way that is a heart full of love and always pray for the president.” — Pelosi
How about that? Her religion trained her to be a lover not a hater. How dare you suggest otherwise. (Like the Pope has a hotline to God so he’s certain that the global warming catastrophe is coming.)
Nancy Pelosi’s daughter did not mince words Wednesday when she was asked about her mother’s leadership style.
“She’ll cut your head off and you won’t even know you’re bleeding,” Alexandra Pelosi bluntly told CNN in an interview Wednesday morning. [Jan. 2, 2019] “That’s all you need to know about her.”
Besides, it’s all theologically sound (at least for her):
“She’ll cut your head off” precisely because her “heart [is] full of love…”
And then she’ll pray and pray and pray for you and ask God, no doubt, to “sort it out”.
(Perhaps Robert Spencer should look into this….)
. . . She’ll cut your head off
I’ll take this as my cue (all others held blameless):
1) Ninja Missile!
2) George Zimmerman sues for fraudulent murder trial, $100mil.
Both of those two, especially Pelosi are such utterly dishonest fakes and outright liars…well I think that describes 90% of their party. Awful partisan lying fakes and despicable power grabbers. Once Trump is gone, (assuming he wins this next election), we’re in for the most horrible era this country has ever faced.
Oh and sdferr, despite some of your more ridiculous arguments towards me, I also am Glad Zimmerman is suing peole and I hope he wins all that he’s looking for.
This is who the Democrats extol as their front-runner, and they have problems with Trump’s “demeanor” —
Aide Symone Sanders to took Twitter following the exchange to deny Biden had insulted the man, claiming the former vice president said “facts” — a term she asserted was one the candidate has used on the campaign trail.
[???]
“Let’s be clear RE: the exchange VP Biden had with a voter in Iowa earlier today: (1) the gentleman is a self-identified Warren supporter who said he would vote for the VP in a general election; (2) his facts were flat-out wrong and; (3) the crowd backed VP Biden up in his response,” Sanders wrote. “Any assertion VP Biden said a word about the gentleman’s appearance is making this something it is not. In the latter part of the exchange, the VP began to say “Look, facts” then said “here’s the deal.” If you’ve been to a Biden event, you’ve heard this before.”
“As a Catholic, I resent your using the word hate in a sentence that addresses me. I don’t hate anyone. I was raised in a way that is a heart full of love and always pray for the president.” — Pelosi
How about that? Her religion trained her to be a lover not a hater.
* * *
It also trained her to oppose abortion.
How did that work out?
With another McCain or Romney at the top of the ticket we’d never hear about this exchange again. With Trump in charge, if Biden gets the nomination you’ll be seeing it over and over in his ads.
Radical progressives are up in arms. Ironically, if Trump wins again, they will be the reason.
…
Q: Once again, where are the radicals going?
A: Nowhere, in both parties. The core will vote core.
To win the election then, a candidate must appeal to the middle. Otherwise, it’s an electoral crapshoot as Democrats found out with Hillary.
So, if Democrats want to help re-elect Trump, they should nominate the most radical person they can find.
I smell fear and desperation in the air. Desperate people can get testy.

Harry–What comes after Trump is what is worrying me as well.
Trump’s candidacy and election certainly seems to me to qualify as a “Black Swan” event i.e. something totally unexpected, extraordinary, and rare, and a situation not likely to be repeated anytime soon.
So, say Trump wins another term. What happens then?
What Republican of equal effectiveness, courage, and pugnacity could win the Presidency and replace him, and would he or she carry on his general policy direction?
Do the supposed “Conservative” members of the Republican party have the savvy and balls to actually, really fight for conservative principles/policies as hard as Trump has fought, and as successfully?
With just a few rare exceptions, it doesn’t look like it.
Is there any one even remotely like this on the horizon, waiting in the wings?
I don’t see anyone.
My fear is that, in the end, Trump is going to turn out to be only a small speed bump on the road to total Leftist political domination in this country, and some form of Socialism/Communism.
It is brazenly cynical, the way Nancy Pelosi waves her supposed Catholicism when convenient.
Lest I be taken to task for the phrase “supposed Catholicism,” allow me to clarify:
In Catholicism, a person is considered to be “Catholic” in various senses, but primarily in two ways:
1. by being canonically Catholic; that is, subject to the canon law of the Church (normally by being either baptized Catholic or being validly baptized outside the Catholic Church and then later being confirmed as a Catholic); and,
2. by being Catholic in belief and practice; that is, professing as true everything which the Catholic church proclaims to have been revealed by God, and making some minimal effort to live a sacramental life in union with the Church through attendance at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Confession, prayer, and at least minimal cooperation with the graces God gives to increase in holiness.
Now, is Nancy Pelosi “Catholic” in the first sense? Why, yes.
That’s not nothing; but let’s remember: It makes Nancy Pelosi a “Catholic” exactly the same sense by which Martin Luther was a Catholic.
What about the second sense?
Well, here again the comparison to Luther seems apt. Nancy Pelosi is canonically Catholic, but denies some parts of Catholicism. Her public opposition to the teachings of the Church are a public scandal, which is a grave sin from which she refuses to repent. She is consequently forbidden to receive Holy Communion by any Catholic priest or prelate who doesn’t disobey canon 915. According to the Catholic faith, she is at best a “material heretic”; and inasmuch as she has been visited by bishops, plural, who tried to convince her otherwise, and has not relented, her attitude appears to be recalcitrant and obstinate, which makes her (in all likelihood) a formal heretic.
If her public life is at all indicative of her private intentions, and unless those private intentions are somehow based upon some helpless ignorance of the truth, and if she dies without some change, there’s no well-founded expectation that she can avoid going to hell forever.
Our Dear Speaker’s a regular St. Teresa of Avila, huh?
If I were a less-clear-thinking person, I’d regard Nancy Pelosi as a really good reason to convert to Scientology.
No one actually thinks she’s praying for Trump or a good Catholic just as no one thinks Biden’s a truth telling tough guy. These are the characters that they play and the lines that go with these characters. It’s so phony and sad. They are like two senior citizens going back to their 60th high school reunion and insisting to everyone who will listen that she always the good girl head cheerleader and he was the quarterback. Except they never were these people. But they keep telling fictional stories about their “glory days” that never occurred. And everyone just smiles and nods and moves away from the former class Vice President and Senior Skip Week Activities Coordinator. Who got these positions because no one else wanted them.
Who would have thought it would be Trump staying cool, calm and collected? While needling the hell out of his opponents, of course.
I guess it helps to hold a strong hand instead of working a bluff.
Saw some clips of ol’ Nancy talking about how so so sorrowfully and prayerfully she is giving the go ahead for Impeachment, and I couldn’t help but notice that she seems to be having some problems with her articulation.
In fact, when she speaks her jaws are often moving sideways–sort of like a camel when it’s chewing something–and it looks as if she might have dentures, and they are shifting as she tries to speak, and are about to pop out.
If Joe Biden was the campaigner he should be, he would have a ready answer for any questions about his son’s involvement in Ukraine. A good campaigner would expect questions like that and be ready for them. Old Joe’s never really had to campaign in Delaware. He had an automatic seat as long as he wanted it.
His hail fellow, well met, schmoozy sort of demeanor only goes so far. He can’t dodge the tough questions. He’s in the big boys room now. Getting nasty and dodging embarrassing questions isn’t going to win him the votes he needs.
All that said, I’m convinced that the nomination is his to lose. But it’s light years to go before the convention and anyhting can happen.
Democrats are really thin skinned and instantly turn into a monster whenever they don’t get the softball treatment enjoyed from the friendly msm networks and were being asked challenging questions. The best meme i have seen online parodying this phenomenon is one with bilbo momentarily showing a scary Evil face when his precious ring got taken away in the fellowship of the ring. contrary to the liberal’s talking point that trump is thin skinned trump rarely loses his cool In public despite how constantly he is challenged or being ridiculed. When he was being roasted by obama or seth meyers or as recently by blackFace trudeau he just take it like a good sports. The trump being described by the liberals and nevertrumpers is very different from the one we are witnessing which adds to frustration that the media can lie like that to our face without any pushback
Fifty years in this business and that’s how he handles a challenge from the public. Makes you want to give him the Blake-from-Glengarry-Glen-Ross treatment. “You can’t answer the questions you’re given, you can’t answer sh!t, you ARE sh!t. Hit the bricks, pal, because you are going out”.
There are times, particularly in politics, when a well crafted emotional and impassioned outburst is tactically and strategically advantageous. These outbursts from Pelosi and Biden, IMHO, were not planned and are not advancing their positions. These were emotional meltdowns from two people that are under great and sustained pressure. They cracked, a bit. I’m most surprised by Pelosi, she usually is much more in control of herself.

Biden wasn’t under any more pressure than any other politician campaigning for office and Pelosi wasn’t under any more pressure than any other person who has to interact with the public. And, no, she’s not under control. She stammers and gets lost in syntactical labyrinths routinely. “Did this woman have a stroke?” is the sort of question you hear asked about her. She gesticulates as if she’s doing exercises from a finger-spelling course.
Snow on Pine, I think Nikki Haley is preparing to run in 2024. And I am psyched about it!
I ran into this on a small scale in The People’s Republic of Cleveland Heights last summer. Two aging hippies at a street fair getting into it at a hot dog card because one’s dog was too close to the card.
Too much leftover testosterone, no horrible deplorables in sight.
Someone’s gonna get a punch innna nose.
To ‘Snow on Pine’.
Yes and no… Trump is not yet a Black Swan event. he has churned things up a good bit, but a true game-changer has not yet happened. The next election will be it I think. If Trump is defeated, we revert back to ‘normalcy’ for the foreseeable future, continuing the slide towards European-style statist socialism.
But, if Trump is re-elected, after everything and the kitchen sink were thrown at him, it will likely be the “black swan event”, as the electorate will truly differentiate itself from the establishment. Then, I think, all bets are off. If the establishment can’t control who gets nominated/elected anymore, then we could see any number of non-traditional candidates. Trump’s reelection will prove that you don’t need to kiss-up to and be bought off by the Establishment. Ted Cruz, Nikki Halley, Tulsi Gabbard, and any number of the political active Veterans out of the ‘war on terror’, etc. All outsider candidates, that once the ‘establishment’ isn’t calling the shots, could make a serious run for POTUS.
To Snow on Pine and steve walsh,
The initial Pelosi statement, with her wrapping herself in the Constitution and Madison and Hamilton (of course), was rehearsed. The strangeness of her delivery and the thing with her mouth is her trying to act tearful and sorrowful. As in, I hate to do this to the country, but Trump made me do it.
Pelosi never had great acting skills, but she used to be able to fool some of the people some of the time; not so much now. I’d say her delivery went from tearful to angry and tearful in the Q&A part. (How dare you call me hateful.)
This is part of the general Democrat plan whereby surrogates like Prof. P. Karlan agitate for hatred, while the figureheads like Pelosi and Nadler posture as people who have nothing but love for their country and their fellow man/woman.
It used to be that members of our U.S. Congress, dull though they were, projected by their demeanor and actions a certain seriousness and “gravitas”; they appeared to be adults, and at least “seemed” to be acting and thinking in fidelity to our Constitution, our history, and our traditions.
In a few short years, the Democrats have managed to trash all that, and those in front of the Leftist mob, and their spokesmen, are actually–although they are not saying so out loud–advocating for sweeping all of that history, tradition, and success aside, in reality just abandoning it all, with the hooves of their horses muffled, so that observers will have a harder time detecting what they are heading for–straight for revolution.
I wonder if this is how people, long ago, in France witnessed–with vast uneasiness and fear–the beginning of the avalanche bearing down upon them, of the French Revolution, with the Terror to come?
@R.C.: Yes, Pelosi and Biden are about as Catholic as Comrade Francis.
@Sarah Rolph: Now Nikki Haley is a real Catholic! (no sarc)
impeaching Trump over his conduct during the russia investigation and possible obstruction of justice as far fetched as that would be already would still be much more legit and less appalling to me than these bogus abuse of power charges over Ukraine they cooked up with. abuse of power is so vague and in the eye of the beholder that it should never be allowed to be the legal basis for anything. everything people you hate do against you is viewed as an abuse of power of course, the cop who pull me over for my busted tail light according to me was abusing his power too by not exercising his sensitiveness to not bother me over something so trivial during holiday but doesn’t mean i was right.
It used to be that members of our U.S. Congress, dull though they were, projected by their demeanor and actions a certain seriousness and “gravitas”; they appeared to be adults, and at least “seemed” to be acting and thinking in fidelity to our Constitution, our history, and our traditions. –Snow on Pine
Looks like all that anyone will remember of this week’s hearing is a Stanford law professor trying to score points by zinging a 13 year-old boy before a national audience.
There are good reasons that people, who have advanced degrees and climbed career rungs or been elected, are considered authorities. Ordinary citizens can’t realistically be expected to assess their technical arguments. But ordinaries can sure smell the dung when so-called authorities descend into petty character assassination and hyperbolic claims.
We see this all the time when the elites aren’t getting their way with their preferred rational arguments (which may not be that rational — see climate change) so decide to dial it up to 11 with over-the-top emotional appeals. They don’t seem to realize they are sawing off the branch on which they sit, oh so high up in the sky.
I’m a freethinking, ex-hippie cuss. I’m temperamentally not fond of arguments from authority. But at some point even I know that we need authorities. This isn’t good for anyone.
Pelosi is most likely upset because her son Paul is also in on the same Burisma scam as Hunter Biden. They may well go down together along with Kerry’s stepson. No doubt there are other swamp insider relatives who are implicated too. Of course she’s upset and doing everything she can to prevent her son from going to prison. Tough.
Roughly speaking huxley (ok, very roughly speaking) you got the elements of Plato’s entire life work in that 2:19 pm comment. Details aside.
I think that the Heinz scion bailed out of the Burisma scheme because it smelled so bad. But Pelosi’s son does seem to have dirty hands in Ukraine.

Ah, the comic (Aristophanes did it better) . . . let’s just say it’s pretty standard fare today. Has nothing to do with the Platonic dialogues of course, which is probably the main purpose: gotta keep ’em in the dark lest something scary get loose. Ooooga-booga.

But Pelosi’s son does seem to have dirty hands in Ukraine.

sdferr: Complimented … I guess? Aside from Socrates’ Greatest Hits, I mainly remember Plato for his attacks on poets. Here’s a funny comic strip to wit:

Ah, the comic (Aristophanes did it better) . . . let’s just say it’s pretty standard fare today. Has nothing to do with the Platonic dialogues of course, which is probably the main purpose: gotta keep ’em in the dark lest something scary get loose. Ooooga-booga.
