Transgender athletes retain their muscular advantage — 26 Comments

  1. The idea that one can change one’s sex is a delusion. There are a few cases of birth defects in which a choice must be made for the child. Fortunately today, DNA analysis may help make the choice which will most suit the child’s development, and enhanced surgical abilities may make the right choice possible, where before, it may not have been.

Any male my height is stronger than I am. Males several inches shorter are stronger, too, and for most women, who are shorter than most men to begin with, the strength differential is overwhelming.

  2. I fret somewhat the following is off topic, yet the female athleticism is so great, I can’t resist posting it. So, apologies aforehand.

Suzanne F. Boswell made a twitter thread on Simone Biles doing Simone Biles kinds of things (i.e., spectacular, seeming impossible, amazing, etc.): https://mobile.twitter.com/sf_boswell/status/1160958697243336705

To begin, Boswell says: “Last night, Simone Biles successfully performed a triple double, and the entire world is (correctly) freaking out.

For those interested in the background, here is a short thread explaining *why* the triple double is so difficult.”

Then Boswell helpfully provides a number of embedded gifs to illustrate the development of these new tumbling maneuvers Biles has created.

    Go, look.

  3. “Why do trans-gender supporters hate women?”

And this is an amazing question. All the transgender supporters/boosters that I saw on my previous campus were all lead by the left wing feminists/lesbians. The same people who regularly would tout the benefits of the WNBA, NWSL, and LPGA. Their disconnect between supporting transgenders participation in women’s sports and their support of women’s sports is astounding. But I guess not surprising anymore as the left is defined by contradiction.

  4. physicsguy:

Perhaps not on your campus, but in general there has been a longstanding war between some feminists and transgenders. The transgender wing calls these feminists “terfs.” That stands for “trans-exclusionary radical feminists.” There are videos on YouTube about it. You can read an article about it from five years ago, for example. An excerpt from that article:

The dispute began more than forty years ago, at the height of the second-wave feminist movement. In one early skirmish, in 1973, the West Coast Lesbian Conference, in Los Angeles, furiously split over a scheduled performance by the folksinger Beth Elliott, who is what was then called a transsexual. Robin Morgan, the keynote speaker, said:

    “I will not call a male ‘she'”…

That was almost 50 years ago.

  5. It’s not only that, but the transgender person will also retain the male skeletal structure and the male internal organs, all very different from the true biological female.

The female body is better designed to bear children than to participate in athletics like running, jumping, throwing, or lifting. Females not only have wider hips and buttocks, but relatively longer torsos as well, all for better reproduction.

Female athletes are right to complain, and should keep on complaining, with having to compete with transgender persons who have such an unfair advantage over them.

  6. Muscular, respiratory, skeletal. Transgender neo-females retain significant advantages over their female counterparts.

  7. Start by refusing to
    1) use the word “gender” (except when discussing grammar distinctions)
    2) call them “transgender”
    3) instead, call them “mentally-ill castration fetishists”

  8. a longstanding war between some feminists and transgenders

Minority fiefdoms. Chauvinists on one hand. Congruence (“=”) on the other. The odd couple of political, social, and economic thought and practice.

the left is defined by contradiction.

Pro-Choice is internally, externally, and mutually inconsistent. They need to lose their quasi-religion (“ethics”).

  9. Neo,

Thanks for the link. It only confuses me more 🙂 What they are calling “radical feminists” in the article I would have called ‘classical feminists” in my naivete.

Whether one calls them radfems, or classical feminists, they have been caught in the cognitive dissonance of trying to be of the radical left, yet not wanting to give in to the idea that a man claiming to be a women really is a women. Even with, as the article mentions, that so-called “woman” can also be “pregnant”. It shows how far out of touch with reality the feminist/transgender movement is when they attack, an apparent now minority of “radical feminists”, as being so wrong in their views.

  10. sdferr, those videos at the link were amazing. Simone Biles should be a lock to be the Champion of another Olympics. I know some people say hitting a baseball is the hardest thing in sports, but being the only person in the world to do something is certainly harder.

  11. As this is the new normal, biological female athletes appear to be impaired compared to their trans female peers. So, bio women could be given more time to run races and other ADA compliant accessibility accommodations, or given hormones and performance enhancing drugs to correct the inequality.

  12. transgender supporters/boosters that I saw on my previous campus were all lead by the left wing feminists/lesbians

Transgender (i.e. physical, mental attributes – similar to phenotype) spectrum including neo-genders, homosexuals, bisexuals, but not transvestites, which are trans-social. Although, they all seem to be included in a political congruence (“=”) construct, but homosexuals are the undisputed elites (“purity”) in the spectrum. Feminists are female chauvinists. They belong with the male pigs in a Pro-Choice society. In a civilized society, men and women are equal and complementary.

  13. Here’s a link to a clip (repeated in slo-mo) of Simone Biles’ firstmof its kind double double balance beam dismount from a couple of days ago (on youtube). https://youtu.be/Ki7MDDHvK7A

The whole routine is available on YouTube too, just scan. She wasn’t too happy with the whole routine, but was very happy about the dismount.

  14. I seriously think Trump and the Republicans should come out with a “biological female rights bill” that guarantees the right of biological females to form sports leagues free of any biological males. Even if it did not pass , it would be a bold stroke highlighting a difference with the Democrats. There are likely many democrat voters who oppose biological males on women’s sports. But then, many of the Republicans would likely be cowed by the pc media.

  15. Republicans should come out with a “biological female rights bill”

It will be shouted down on the basis that Republicans are pro-human rights and anti-women’s rites, possibly diversitist (e.g. racist, sexist) according to the transgender professor and perhaps the neo-male professor as well, and that any product in association with Republicans must be inferred to be a gateway to human and civil rights that is not compatible with Pro-Choice quasi-religion (“ethics”), selective, opportunistic, and politically congruent (“=”) or selectively exclusive.

  16. Social justice anywhere is injustice everywhere. The conflation of concepts, logical domains, rights and rites, color and principle, has been progressive (i.e. monotonic) and increasingly liberal (i.e. divergent). That said, the left’s ability to mobilize and deploy their various factions, and for compliant media and platforms to enhance their expression, is quite impressive, collusion with foreign governments and organizations notwithstanding.

  17. Why can’t the sports leagues just create a third category for transsexuals to compete in amongst themselves? Of course the men claiming they are women will dominate the women claiming they are men, but that should be no matter to the rest of us. Hardly anyone will even pay any attention to them.

  19. sdferr, may I add my Huzzah!s to the chorus thanking you for the Simone Biles link. When I was four, some older kids taught me to do cartwheels, but by the time I was eight, if not before, a simple somersault was the best I could manage.

Sigh. I guess I’ll never be an Olympics gymnast. 😥

But Miss Biles is awesome, and the whole twitter thread is great. Thanks! 😀
