Alex Acosta is out
President Donald Trump announced Acosta’s resignation Friday morning with Acosta at his side. Trump said the secretary called him Friday morning to say that the decision to resign was his.
“I thought the right thing was to step aside,” Acosta said.
Acosta added, “I do not think it is right and fair for this administration’s labor department to have Epstein as the focus rather than the incredible economy that we have today.”
This could have been predicted, and in fact I predicted it yesterday, although I claim no special prescience for that. Acosta’s resignation was likely, for political reasons that are twofold. The first reason is that the Acosta/Epstein focus gave too much ammunition to Trump’s enemies. The second is that Acosta himself has never been particularly favored on the right, so he was starting out from a weak position.
He made the proper decision, but far too little attention is being devoted to Barry Krischer, the Florida Democrat whose misbehavior in the case was more egregious. What is more and more obvious is not only that the sources of Epstein’s wealth are uncertain and dubious (Ponzi schemes, offshore money-laundering, and blackmail have all been suggested), but also that he has perhaps been connected to one or more intelligence services, as well as to powerful predators.
Next.
Meanwhile Trump is steamrolling democrats and Washington Post just had an article about it.

The left shot themself in the foot again. They had a guy the “far right” hated now he is gone.
As I think I said on the other thread, it may be that Acosta made the best of an ugly situation with Epstein. People with money and connections sometimes skate with no consequences at all. But I would have preferred to see Acosta leave because he hasn’t been a conservative Labor Secretary.
I hear the temporary Labor Secretary is more likely to move on regulation reforms and less likely to dance with the labor unions.
Man, I am a veritable anti-prediction machine. Write this down: bet on the opposite of whatever predictions steve walsh makes and you will win most, if not all, of the time.
Off topic but did you see how Trump defended Pelosi on the attacks from AOC? Love it.
Over @ Frontpage, Daniel Greenfield points a revealing light at democrat big wig Barry Krischer’s involvement…
THE DEMOCRAT WHO LET JEFFREY EPSTEIN GET AWAY
Why is no one talking about Barry Krischer?

The Acosta situation serves us ill.
The Dems got him and we did not stand up for him. Why? Because he “danced with the labor unions”? He was one of us, was an outstanding US Attorney in FL, and is now in the trash can.
Labor is perhaps the least important Cabinet position. Driving for anti-(public) union regs in a pro-union Dept is tough, and I for one am in no position to impugn his performance as Sec. of Labor.
Epstein has already been convicted before a trial, with both Dems and GOPers in tune with that violation of a primary constitutional construct.
Epstein also serves as a titillating, sustained distraction from the evils done by the Clintons et al.
So the Dems are winning yet again.

The only amazing thing is that Politifact told the truth.
Richard Fernandez, who is my go-to guy on international affairs, has described this as one more example of Democrat torpedoes that circle and explode at the source.
Cicero, my sentiments exactly.
I watched Ken Starr interviewed on the Laura Ingraham show tonight. He was one of Epstein’s attorneys. He defended Acosta as being ethical and tough. He said that Epstein would have gotten off with no jail time and no sex offender registration had not the Feds stepped in and threatened to prosecute. Starr’s job as Epstein’s defense attorney was to argue that the evidence indicated that the Feds had no jurisdiction. The evidence of trafficking across state lines was apparently weak. Starr argued that in front of Main Justice, but the DOJ believed it was strong enough that they could threaten prosecution in order to force a stiffer plea deal with the State of Florida for Epstein. It’s complex. As usual, much of the media coverage is slanted and full of innuendo against Acosta and by association……… Trump.
Aesop does it again! Thanks for the link to L.I., Aesop. :>)
Repeated here for our eddification, from the L.I. story — following a picture of Mr. Trump, a young girl, and Epstein, under which L.I. writes,
Well! I guess that puts Trump directly under the gibbet for inappropriately fondling a young girl!
–But wait. Not so fast! L.I. now quotes Politifact:
https://www.politifact.com/facebook-fact-checks/statements/2019/jul/10/viral-image/image-donald-trump-and-jeffrey-epstein-doctored/
The piece goes on to tell us,
The paragraph contains a link to the photo, at

Very, very interesting. I notice that the anti-Trump piece says “inappropriately touching,” whereas the Politifact write-up does not suggest any out-of-the-way touching:
The original allegation and doctored image were from a Facebook posting by a Lisa Marie Durkot. But of such minor editorializing, slanted writing are smears made, then spread, then deemed credible (at least by the credulous), and lynchings sometimes committed.
“May you live in interesting times” <== we are here
Re: Google removing photos of Clinton and Epstein
Snopes
Snopes is not an unbiased outlet. I have seen photos of Bill Clinton and Epstein. I haven’t searched recently, but then, I don’t use Google, either. Some enterprising person should compare Google searches to DuckDuckGo searches.
“May you live in interesting times”
And it’s corollary: may you enjoy the liberal euphemisms.
So, steve, got any stock tips? 😀
You are Fired!
If you want to be wrong, read and believe in Snopes.
If you want to not make wrong predictions… don’t make predictions.

Buy Disney.
The plot thickens (and sickens):

The claim is not disinterested; but is it accurate or is it spurious?
