Remember George Papadopoulos? Touted as the reason the whole Russiagate thing started?
It’s easy to get lost in Russiagate minutiae, and perhaps that’s part of the plan.
For example, George Papadopoulos, remember him? Perhaps not. Let me refresh your memory (and mine):
When the special counsel was appointed by Rod Rosenstein in May 2017, the special counsel took over an existing counterintelligence investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) into what proved to be Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections and numerous secretive links between Trump associates and Russian officials. According to reports, Australian officials informed American officials that in May 2016, a Trump presidential campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, told the Australian High Commissioner to Britain, Alexander Downer, that Russian officials were in possession of politically damaging information relating to Hillary Clinton, the rival presidential candidate to Trump. Since the FBI, in response to this information, opened an investigation into the links between Trump associates and Russian officials on July 31, 2016, the meeting between Papadopoulos and Downer is considered to be the ‘spark’ that led to the Mueller investigation.
Actually, it is considered to have been the “spark” that led to the pre-Mueller investigation, the counter-intelligence one launched by the FBI while Obama was still in office, the one that investigated candidate Trump and/or his associates.
You may have forgotten Papadopoulos or at least the details of his story. But Papadopoulos himself certainly hasn’t, and he’s being quite active on Twitter lately:
To be clear: a woman in London, who was the FBI’s legal attaché in the U.K., and had a personal relationship to Bob Mueller after 9/11, encouraged me to meet Joseph Mifsud in Rome in March 2016 and introduced Bruce Ohr to the top U.K. prosecutor 4 days before the Trump tower mtg.

Alexander Downer was so blatantly spying on me that I reported him to both the FBI and Mueller. Who sent him to make contact? The answer lies with Strzok’s former boss being in London the same day.

Joseph Mifsud, the man who “told” me that the “Russians have emails” was no Russian asset, but an FBI/Italian intel asset. He’s currently in Italy on the payroll of Italian intelligence services. Italy will give him up soon.

Papadopoulos sums it up this way:
I think this is going to be very awkward for Mueller. We now know that the man who “told” me this information was working with the FBI, not Russia. Hence, the entire investigation was an entrapment op against Trump and his team by Comey/Brennan/Obama. https://t.co/sUubWJDIGP

Much more at the link.
[ADDENDUM: More here.]
The somewhat shady Mifsud is Maltese, as was the Marxist father of Mayor Pete, who is receiving more and more attention amongst the lesser-known Democratic hopefuls. Malta, although small in size and in population, has always been important due to its strategic location, and it possesses a fascinating history, as well as being the only European country the native language of which is Semitic.
Notice that in the list “… by Comey/Brennan/Obama” the order, not merely of authority but of most serious betrayal is entirely backward, albeit that Brennan will remain in his middling position after proper correction to **Obama/Brennan/Comey**. Just sayin’.
“We now know that the man who “told” me this information was working with the FBI, not Russia. Hence, the entire investigation was an entrapment op against Trump and his team by Comey/Brennan/Obama. George Papadopoulos
Ah, the smoking gun emerges. It was always about Obama. No way did any of those apparatchiks launch an independent, unilateral op against Trump without prior approval from Obama.
Obama’s narcissistic ego must have been utterly appalled that of all people, Donald Trump Jr. was to be his successor and had repeatedly promised to destroy and overturn his ‘legacy’.
The more information that comes out, the worse, the more wide-spread, and the more of a threat to our Republic the operations of this attempted coup d’etat show themselves to be.
It appears that a number of high level Obama appointees and officials–a Cabal of FBI/DOJ/Intelligence Agency/and State Department leaders(and possibly others)–deliberately crafted an elaborate set of actions that, among other things, sent a series of agents provocateurs against Trump’s son and people who were in Trump’s orbit, in order to entrap them/ to set up pretexts to justify illegitimate counter-intelligence operations they wanted to run against Trump, his family members, and his Administration, designed to disrupt and hamper first candidate Trump, then President Trump, and to create, as well, the phony pretexts for his Impeachment.
I cannot help but think that President Obama must have been aware of these operations, in fact OK’d them, but I’m sure that he took steps to be able to claim “plausible deniability.”
And do not forget Michael Flynn.
I highly recommend the article by Spengler
https://pjmedia.com/spengler/to-stop-the-deep-state-bring-back-mike-flynn/
Flynn had to be destroyed because he literally knew where the bodies were buried.
I’ve seen it recommended that Trump bring Flynn back into his Administration.
Quite frankly, I think that Flynn wuz robbed, and that he should, first, be pardoned, and then re-appointed as National Security Advisor once again.

Pardoning Flynn, and bringing him back into the djt administration would be a master stroke of trolling and his knowledge and insight would be a welcome addition. Flynn deserves this after the coup d’etat has now face palmed. The dnc-msm-academia axis of evil would go batsh*t crazy. Winning YUGELY.
“It is alleged that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election by bolstering the candidacies of Trump, Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein in order to increase political instability in the United States as well as to damage the Clinton presidential campaign.[50][51]”
Did political stability increase? Yes, yes, it did. Why ha sit increased? Primarily, IMO, because of the MSM/Democrat party efforts to nullify the election results. If I were Vlad, I would be pretty pleased at the results of an inexpensive cyber operation on disrupting the political scene ion the U.S.
Was Papadopoulos set up? If so, it’s obvious that the FBI/intel community was already planning to undermine Trump. With what we now know about the partisanship of the top levels of the FBI/intel community, it does not take much of a leap of faith to believe that actually was the case. If so, the plan to stop Trump began before May of 2016. And Obama probably knew about it.
Why would Putin prefer Trump over Hillary? Maybe he thought Trump would be a total disaster as president. Little did he suspect that Trump would get the economy moving again, beef up our military, and free up our petroleum industry to produce record amounts of oil, keeping oil prices low – all actions that are contrary to Russia’s interests.
In any event, it appears to me that the anti-Trump efforts have been a real problem for Trump’s international policy. Both China and North Korea have been dragging their feet in negotiations. Probably because they believed Trump would be removed or neutered by his opposition. Since the Mueller Report summary has been released negotiations with China have suddenly begun moving along. Maybe Kim will begin to act in good faith also. (Well, I can dream, can’t I?)
J.J.,
It has never made sense that Putin would prefer Trump over the shrew queen of the reset button and Uranium One. Just plain silly and exceedingly stupid. Trump campaigned on MAGA, freeing up our energy reserves, beefing up the military, growing the economy via deregulation, ect. Putin wanted djt to defeat hrc is a fantasy of epic proportions. No one in the geopolitical sphere fears hrc, she and slick are easily paid off.
The attempted coup is terrible.
Where are the indictments?
Trump’s failure to Lock Her Up remains his worst unkept promise.
It’s not too late to change it.
Well put, parker. The real collusion was between Hillary/Perkins, Couie/Fusion GPS/Steele and the Russians. All in an attempt to frame Trump.
Sorry about all my typos. My eyesight is failing and I just don’t see them even after quite a lot of proof reading. It’s why I seldom comment anymore. 🙁
Ace also points to a story about the Mueller report release, in which protestors (very highly organized) are doing this:
“A progressive advocacy organization called for a nationwide protest Thursday to demand the full release of the special counsel’s report and its underlying materials.”
Now, since Barr has already indicated he’ll release the report later this month, and Trump has indicated he wants underlying materials released, what exactly are they hoping to accomplish?
(1) Since the ABC report does not mention Barr’s promise, the Left will take credit for the release when it comes.
(2) Since the report will certainly have some redactions (e.g., grand-jury information not leading to indictments), they will continue to claim there is something bad about Trump being hidden.
(3) Any underlying materials compromising their own side (as in this post) will never make the MSM news; for anything unreleased – see #2.
Win-win-win for their side.

I kind of hope Trump & Barr go full-assault and release everything, no redactions at all, but that is unlikely.
IMO, if there was anything actually detrimental to Trump anywhere in the report, it would be on the front page of the Times by now.
