Bot attack: foiled!
There was another bot crawler attack last night, unfortunately. My apologies to all of you who might have gotten “error” messages for a while when you tried to access the blog.
The good news is that it seems to have been thwarted fairly quickly by some changes I made behind the scenes. I think that now, with these changes in place, something similar is unlikely to recur. I certainly hope so.
Let me know if you’re still having some problems connecting. For me, it’s a little bit slow, so the situation is significantly better but not 100% better. I’m about to contact the web developer to see if he can fix the problem for good, but he’s pretty busy and it could take a little while. Once again, apologies.
Blogs are surprisingly complex things.
Color me paranoid but all these attacks seem like an effort by left wing vandals.
I used to read “Robin of Berkeley.” She tapered off with her postings, then after two bad blog attacks of some sort, she’s shutting it down. Pity. Hang in there Neo.
It was a little slow to load this morning but not a lot. It seems you have thwarted the bots.
I had trouble all day yesterday (Monday) but everything is working fine now. Thanks for the lo-bot-omy!

The bots go lo, Neo goes hi.
It does seem slower than many sites generally from here in Perth Western Australia and I did get database error messages from time to time, but then got through on a link from Instapundit. So it looks like you are defending the site well. . I certainly would not be surprised that the attack is politically motivated. Silencing dissenters is what they do.
