About the new layout… would be possible to use a less bright one?
The old one was very comfortable to read. Clear, elegant, and the lateral cream color gave a nice contrast. Right now, the whole page is white and bright and it’s not as comfortable for the eyes at all.
Yann:
That’s interesting, because the majority of people are saying they find it a lot more readable this way. If I change that to make it less bright (which I’m not sure I can, but maybe I could) then I think the majority would consider it a negative development.
But my first thought is about adjusting the brightness of your computer screen. Could you tone it down just a notch? Not enough to make other sites hard to read, of course, but a little bit? See if that helps.
I just went to a bunch of other sites and on my computer they are exactly the same brightness as this one, so I’m not sure what’s going on with your screen.
Tried to find the song I’ll Find Someone Like You in music,
(I had an almost identical experience in Paris), but w/o luck.
I don’t want to request something impossible for you to do, but
is it feasible to add a SEARCH to your new blog?
( Which is great, by the way. Thank you. ).

Richard Stockinger:
The “search” bar is right underneath my photo, ordinarily in the right sidebar on a regular computer and down at the bottom of the page on a cellphone. It searches the blog for anything you want (not always with complete effectiveness, though). It does not search the web, of course; just the blog.
This is the first I’ve seen this on my PC.
So much clearer.
Job well done!
Neo:
Thanks for the reply. I suppose I’m more sensitive to bright lights than the average.
Better than changing the contrast (which affects every program), there’s extensions and pages that help to recolor or rearrange any website. McReadibility is a classic one that even rearranges it in an horizontal layout with columns, like a traditional newspaper. If you don’t know that utility, I recommend it. This is how your web looks through it:

Yann:
If it helps you, that’s great.
To me, that’s not more readable. But we’re all different in that respect.
It seems that readability is in the eye of the beholder. Thanks, anyway.
Autofill has stopped working on my tablets. Otherwise like thenewneo.
Don’t know how I overlooked that SEARCH button.
