The Steele dossier’s credibility — 18 Comments

  1. not misinformation, disinformation.

misinformation: false or inaccurate information, especially that which is deliberately intended to deceive

disinformation: false information that is intended to mislead, especially propaganda issued by a government organization to a rival power or the media

Disinformation is false information spread deliberately to deceive The English word disinformation is a translation of the Russian dezinformatsiya derived from the title of a KGB black propaganda department. The book Disinformation documents that Joseph Stalin coined the term, giving it a French-sounding name to falsely claim it had a Western origin.

Russian use began with a “special disinformation office” in 1923. Disinformation was defined in Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1952) as “false information with the intention to deceive public opinion”.

Operation INFEKTION was a Soviet disinformation campaign to influence opinion that the U.S. invented AIDS.

The U.S. did not actively counter disinformation until 1980, when a fake document reported that the U.S. supported apartheid.

The word disinformation did not appear in English dictionaries until the late-1980s. English use increased in 1986, after revelations that the Reagan Administration engaged in disinformation against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. By 1990 it was pervasive in U.S. politics; and by 2001 referred generally to lying and propaganda.

isnt it cool how Stalin changed our language to suit his needs?
thing on that… disinformation is from stalin… left and right is from trotsky and bukharin… and the list goes on..

and the funniest thing is that unless your an antisoviet and remember, you wont notice your talking like old soviets misuing terms and sounding erudite with the wrong meanings!!!
[sit down with some ex soviets at an old folks home and chat]

AND BEFORE YOU ARGUE THEY ARE THE SAME :

The English word disinformation, which did not appear in dictionaries until the late-1980s, is a translation of the Russian дезинформация, transliterated as dezinformatsiya. Where misinformation refers to inaccuracies that stem from error, disinformation is deliberate falsehood promulgated by design.

See? your so polite in default speech that you use the term that gives them an out… was the STEELE DOCUMENT a paper in which the information stems from an error or such? of course not..

but see how you dont even call black black, and white white, its all soviet grey..

  2. [in this case the STEELE document also tested who was loyal much as the deer that was a horse did in China]

what the STEELE Document is is an ACtive measure of the kind of false document that nearly overthrew indonesia, cause problems in asia, tried to trick the world the US invented AIDS, and more…

Misinformation can be used to define disinformation–when known misinformation is purposefully and intentionally disseminated.

Front groups are a form of disinformation, as they fraudulently mislead as to their actual controllers.

Disinformation tactics can lead to blowback, unintended negative problems due to the strategy, for example defamation lawsuits or damage to reputation.

Disinformation is primarily prepared by government intelligence agencies.

Usage of the term related to a Russian tactical weapon started in 1923, when the Deputy Chairman of the KGB-precursor the State Political Directorate (GPU), Jé³zef Unszlicht, called for the foundation of “a special disinformation office to conduct active intelligence operations”.

The GPU was the first organization in the Soviet Union to utilize the term disinformation for their intelligence tactics. William Safire wrote in his 1993 book Quoth the Maven that disinformation was used by the KGB predecessor to indicate: “manipulation of a nation’s intelligence system through the injection of credible, but misleading data”

From this point on, disinformation became a tactic used in the Soviet political warfare called active measures. Active measures were a crucial part of Soviet intelligence strategy involving forgery as covert operation, subversion, and media manipulation.

what the STEELE Document is is an ACtive measure of the kind of false document that nearly overthrew indonesia, cause problems in asia, tried to trick the world the US invented AIDS, and more…

the whole concept and use of it in a formal state way to subvert and damge countries, was a communist invention

Service A Russian black propaganda unit used to run many active measures… and GRU is military, and FSB is separate

hard to talk about things if you dont have the verbiage and distinctions of meaning.

IF you spent any time cursorily looking at prior historical events, what is going on would be VERY clear… but experience was tossed out with the patriarchy (it makes everyone unequal)

From this point on, disinformation became a tactic used in the Soviet political warfare called active measures. Active measures were a crucial part of Soviet intelligence strategy involving forgery as covert operation, subversion, and media manipulation.

Ion Mihai Pacepa [who i tried to get you to read about], former senior official from the Romanian secret police, said the word was coined by Joseph Stalin and used during World War II.

The Stalinist government then utilized disinformation tactics in both World War II and the Cold War. Soviet intelligence used the term maskirovka (Russian military deception) to refer to a combination of tactics including disinformation, simulation, camouflage, and concealment.

Pacepa recalled that the Soviet manuals said the origins of disinformation stemmed from phony towns constructed by Grigory Potyomkin in Crimea to wow Catherine the Great during her 1783 journey to the region–subsequently referred to as Potemkin villages.

The black propaganda division was reported to have formed in 1955 and was referred to as the Dezinformatsiya agency.[20] Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director William Colby explained how the Dezinformatsiya agency operated, saying that it would place a false article in a left-leaning newspaper.

IN THE CASE OF THE STEELE DOCUMENT THERE WAS BOTH. THE DOCUMENT WAS CORROBORATED BY REFERENCE TO ARTICLES, BUT THE ARTICLES WERE WRITTEN BY STEELE!! CIRCULAR… LIKE LEFTISTS PATING LEFTISTS…

The fraudulent tale would make its way to a Communist periodical, before eventually being published by a Soviet newspaper, which would say its sources were undisclosed individuals.

    ITS A PROCESS…
    REFINED OVER 100 YEARS
[and which was used to turn the women, the races, and all that including schools here to make them more and more receptive to disnformatzia than the truth. they WANTED the steele document to be real so badly, it became real to them]

By this process a falsehood was globally proliferated as a legitimate piece of reporting

  4. Disinformation may include distribution of forged documents, manuscripts, and photographs, or spreading dangerous rumours and fabricated intelligence.

What will BLOW YOUR MINDS is the operations that happendd that you know the information on in the FRONT, but do NOT know the backstory and that your head is full of crappy mush!!!!

A major disinformation effort in 1964, Operation Neptune, was designed by the Czechoslovak secret service, the StB, to defame West European politicians as former Nazi collaborators.

    NEPTUNE

In 1964, the StB publicly claimed to have discovered Nazi-era intelligence files hidden beneath the surface of ÄŒerné jezero, a lake in the Å umava, on the border with West Germany. The four chests containing the papers were supposedly discovered during the making of a documentary, in the presence of members of the Western press. In fact the agency itself had placed them there, in collaboration with the KGB.

their apparent discovery was a disinformation operation, the largest conducted by the agency; in fact the papers found in the sunken chests, which had been carefully doctored to appear as if they had been submerged since World War II, were not the real documents, which were only later brought from the Soviet Union.

The agent who led the divers to make the discovery and who had originally placed them in the lake, Ladislav Bittman, (later known as Lawrence Martin-Bittman)

defected to the West in 1968 and published a book on the plot. [you would think neo would read about these changers, the ones from the deepest parts who were successful and coudl have had better lives but changed sides.. oh well]

AND YOU HAVE HEARD THIS OR FORMS OF THIS IN THE LFTS ACCUSATIONS…

The objectives were to discredit Western politicians by revealing the names of former Nazi informants whom they were still using as spies in Eastern Europe, and to place pressure on West Germany to extend the statute of limitations on prosecution of war criminals.

if you want to hear operation INFEKTION which the black racialists in the us still talk about as real… searc neoneocon i covered it before and am loath to do it again.

one more post on ACTIVE MEASURES

  5. Active measures
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_measures

a Soviet term for the actions of political warfare conducted by the Soviet and Russian security services (Cheka, OGPU, NKVD, KGB, FSB) to influence the course of world events, in addition to collecting intelligence and producing “politically correct” assessment of it.

Now you know what POLITICALLY CORRECT means..
its the dictated thoughts you are supposed to have whether you have them or not, so everyone can pretend society is something its not but what they promised!!!

    funny people.

maybe if you read about active measures
and that women were the FRONTs movements center who was dictating soviet politically correct positions to take.

over 50 years and you still havent stumbled over it.
maybe because you have tons of other origin stories to deflect you and to give you some paper with an excuse like the disnformatzia serves?

    anyway:
Active measures range “from media manipulations to special actions involving various degrees of violence”. They were used both abroad and domestically. They included disinformation, propaganda, counterfeiting official documents, assassinations, and political repression, such as penetration into churches, and persecution of political dissidents.

and assasinations… but most are quiet.. its rare that neo will talk about them.. or group them for understanding.. they still go on in the hundreds… but we think not and or we think the US does them, which it doesnt…

Active measures included the establishment and support of international front organizations (e.g. the World Peace Council); foreign communist, socialist and opposition parties; wars of national liberation in the Third World; and underground, revolutionary, insurgency, criminal, and terrorist groups.

Retired KGB Maj. Gen. Oleg Kalugin described active measures as “the heart and soul of Soviet intelligence”: “Not intelligence collection, but subversion: active measures to weaken the West, to drive wedges in the Western community alliances of all sorts, particularly NATO, to sow discord among allies, to weaken the United States in the eyes of the people of Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and thus to prepare ground in case the war really occurs.

yeah. like having your women fight so if in a war of attrition, you cant have people replace people but they can. like making evryone fat, and lazy, and hate their place, and have no home or women or family to defend… and more and more..

we are at the fourth stage… where if a war breaks out most of our kids are not able to serve, many others woudl rather fight FOR The oppositoin… you will get huge amounts of sabotage and stuff, and think this with open borders

send 100 people a year for 10 years
and you have 10,000 shock troops living in the US waiting
and the russians and china openly create more than that a year from their special schools!!!! where do they go?

Active measures was a system of special courses taught in the Andropov Institute of the KGB situated at SVR headquarters in Yasenevo, near Moscow. The head of the “active measures department” was Yuri Modin, former controller of the Cambridge Five spy ring.

    ready
    its a process
you can take courses in it
    they teach it
    you can read about it
    learn to recognize it

but first, you have to shrug off the believes you think you have

or did you forget willi saying that the most important thing about all this is to never ever let them know these thoughts are NOT THEIRS

and if this stuff makes you a bit uncomforatable
    good…
    ingnorance is deadly bliss

  6. KGB chairman Yury Andropov allegedly explained to Pacepa that:
A billion adversaries could inflict far greater damage on America than could a few millions. We needed to instill a Nazi-style hatred for the Jews throughout the Islamic world, and to turn this weapon of the emotions into a terrorist bloodbath against Israel and its main supporter, the United States

The following liberation organizations have been allegedly established or supported by the KGB: Red Army Faction, PLO, National Liberation Army of Bolivia (created in 1964 with help from Ernesto Che Guevara); the National Liberation Army of Colombia (created in 1965 with help from Cuba), Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine in 1969, and the Secret Army for Liberation of Armenia in 1975

  7. I remember reading some 50,000 word (or less) article in The New Yorker years ago, written by Seymour Hersh. I got about half way through before it dawned on me: So Sy has a dozen anonymous sources who are simultaneously Forest Gumps occupying the perfect spot at the perfect point in history, and have eidetic memory. Riiight!

  8. I personally know three federal judges. If I made a misrepresentation to them like the FBI and DOJ did in the Carter Page case, I’d be in BIG trouble.

  9. artfldgr:

Whatever term I used (and I was not previously aware of any distinction between the two terms) I most definitely meant disinformation, a purposeful and typical operation of the Russian government to mislead and cause trouble.

I had absolutely no intention to hide that fact or whitewash it in any way, and I am well aware of the general history of that in Russia. I was unaware, however, of the difference between the two terms.

And by the way, even as a young person I was aware of the existence of front groups, because of the activities of some pro-Soviet pro-Communist relatives of mine. I didn’t know the extent of the whole thing, of course.

  10. Campaign of misinformation=disinformation. Different words, same concept.

It’s all about the context. 70% of human language bandwidth is in body language (near non existent here), 20% is in voice tones (also non existent), and the word meanings account for the 10%.

That’s why when there is a difference in word interpretation in online text, it doesn’t go anywhere, even after it is cleared up.

Americans were told by the Cronkite and MSM propagandists, that the patriotic anti war Americans were organizing marches. It is to be expected that most people believed it, even though some of them agreed with the war rather than disagreed with the political aims in vogue.

To them living in the weed smoke and sexual liberation of the 60s and 70s, what the nation told them was the truth, what Cronkite said was equal to gold. The idea that their entire emotional and mental framework and paradigm had been engineered by foreign forces… that’s not something the proud America would admit even if evidence hit them in the face. There’s a big difference to believing that the Tea Party is astroturf vs grassroots. A grassroots organization of patriots is seeking the benefit of their nation and families. An AstroTurf organization of patriots is just a box full of tools and useful idiots.

  11. The second I heard of the salacious allegations — I just started laughing.

The FIRST thing that popped into my head was KGB// FSB deceit.

I don’t know how anything could be more transparent.

Steele comes off as a TOTAL dufus.

As do every other idiot in the chain of transmission.

They must be dying from laughter in Moscow. Can there be any doubt?

  12. But of course the allegations were absurd. Everyone in the US government who read it reached the same conclusion, including John McCain, who wanted nothing more than to damage Trump but realized the dossier was probably filled with false information. The dossier only came out when Comey briefed President-elect Trump about it just prior to the inauguration, and the news was not the dossier, it was the fact that Trump had been briefed about it. That allowed Issikoff to write about it, at which point the contents of the dossier itself began to trickle out.

There was one other bit of bureaucratic infighting that Comey engaged in that has never (to my knowledge) been remarked upon: he told Trump that he was not a subject of FBI investigation without telling the rest of the country. He did so knowing Trump would tweet that bit of information and thus appear to be fabricating information. Comey could have announced that to the world without briefing Trump personally, but that would not have resulted in the tweet, which looked at the time like a Trump fantasy.

Later the head of the NSA told Trump that his Trump Tower headquarters was “bugged” and Trump moved headquarters after announcing he had been bugged. That too has been the subject of much snickering among the Washington elite, who were sure the government would not engage in eavesdropping on an American citizen, especially a high-level (President-elect) official. But that has now been all but confirmed.

The manner in which the Obama administration acted illegally will likely never be plumbed in full, partly because the ruling class does not want to believe it, partly because they believe it and just don’t want Obama to be seen as the person he was: someone who was wiling to use the organs of government against the succeeding administration.

  13. The stainless steel rat dossier..

How long are American patriots going to ignore and tolerate the treason of the Demoncrats in the US? Are they going to wait as long as Lincoln did…

That too has been the subject of much snickering among the Washington elite, who were sure the government would not engage in eavesdropping on an American citizen, especially a high-level (President-elect) official.

I suspect they were snickering because many of them knew how many Republicans they had taken out with the same trick. Some of them even knew that they were spying on Nixon and that’s how they were able to manipulate the media into catching Nixon in a contradiction.

They were never able to prove that Nixon ordered illegal break ins. What Nixon wanted was evidence that the Democrats were receiving foreign (Russian) contributions that were illegal. Because Nixon suspected his enemies had already stolen one election from him. The one who made that order or setup, was part of the FBI and also Bern’s anonymous source. It was quite the perfect setup.

  14. The manner in which the Obama administration acted illegally will likely never be plumbed in full, partly because the ruling class does not want to believe it, partly because they believe it and just don’t want Obama to be seen as the person he was:

Americans haven’t even figured out what the Dems did to Nixon or what the FBI and COINTELPRO did to Nixon, and Luther, and so forth…

If it wasn’t for the Alt Right, intel analysts, and internet propagation, Americans would still be in the dark, believing in their Cronkites. People will believe whatever they are told, and at least for Trum, half the country keeps falling for it, at least.

The biggest irony and also a source of rage for Putin, is that while Russia is trying to nationalize without marxism, the US is starting to use the same tricks as the KGB on Russia as they did to us (THE USA) in the Cold War.

Set up Islamic jihad organizations to weaken US interests in Israel, Russian interests in Syria, check.

  15. “…seen as the person he was: someone who was wiling to use the organs of government against the succeeding administration.”

Seen as the person he IS. Seen as the thug he IS.

(Don’t forget the weaponization of Federal agencies and Departments against Americans opposed to Obama’s policies, and all the lying, deception, allegations and posturing used to rationalize his deceiving of the citizenry—though, to be sure, many were so very eager to be deceived—and his trampling on the Constitution.)

But it’s true. This must be the first time in US history when a previous administration (and the current political opposition), together with huge swaths of the media and academia (and Hollywood!?) is trying to take down, to subvert, to destroy, the sitting president who—somehow—won the election that he was NOT supposed to win.

Yes. No less than subverting the sitting president. All for the “right” reasons, of course…. (As they carefully peruse their newly-discovered Orwells….)

  16. I don’t like the Weekly Standard piece. Yes, it’s true that Fusion GPS received funding from the DNC and Clinton. But at the beginning the money came from a Never Trump supporter.

I think its far better to put the case like this. Yes, Russia intervened. Why? Because they despised Clinton and saw here as a threat. Did their efforts decide the election? Not really. Were they doing it all for Trump’s benefit? No.

I mean, did the Russians really expect a Trump victory? I doubt it. What they wanted was a divided America when Clinton took office, which would have happened anyway. They were just fanning the fire. All of this is just gravy for them.
