I think all of you will be happy to hear…
…that through sheer driven bulldog pursuit, I managed to come up with some code (and where to put it) that changed the font in the compose comments box of the new blog.
That awful hideous Courier is no more! Now the font is quite pleasant, the better to read what you’re writing as you’re writing it.
Those of you who never commented at the new blog and don’t know what I’m talking about should still be happy, because it’s a big improvement. But you’ll just have to take my word for it.
Methinks I’m getting a little bit OCD about this.
When you have gone past the point of diminishing returns you need to continue on to the vanishing point.
I hope you are writing down what you did since something will eventually change. There is nothing so frustrating to figure out where exactly you had to go to fix something. It seems like every time there is a browser update, I have to go and change it back to how I liked it.
Liz:
Oh, yes, I’m writing it all down.
…that through sheer driven bulldog pursuit, I managed to come up with some code…
neo: Welcome to the lodge!
Sometimes programmers get to think high pure thoughts of code but much of the job is just banging rocks together to get the language, tools, libraries, operating system and hardware to work together for a result. It’s almost never as simple as one would hope.
When does it go LIVE?
Sam L.:
Well, it’s already quite live. You can comment there and I could post there if I wanted to.
I assume, though, that you mean when do I transfer all the archives there and have a redirect there from the URL for this one? Probably another week or so; I’m not sure. I’d like to get all the kinks out first.
OCD = non-liberal 🙂
Non accountable = liberal / narcissist
So what does that make Trump? I don’t know. What got me is the exchange with the individual (I can’t remember his name) on tariffs. Trump thought he “knew” and did just like Obama with Paul Ryan on the “health care debate”.
I think the best leaders have to be able to have the courage to try to get things right but maybe the best leaders just push things forward despite evidence showing them otherwise.
I’ve studied leadership a lot more recently in college and as a leader myself in state government. Some leaders effect change and some are mired in managerial tasks. While I’ve effected change in my career I believe it was more about luck than a full on knowledge about what it takes to do so. Now that I know more I am constantly analyzing and thinking about all my relationships with peers, my staff and leadership above me.
The TOP executive of this blog has done amazing over the last 14 years. My life is better due to your work and being here. Thank you NEO
I hope you plan to update the feedly info!
Perhaps instead of OCD you meant CDO. Alphabetical, you know.
Julia:
I’m not sure what you mean. Does that not happen automatically?
Gee I don’t know! I will probably have to re-add it to feedly if the web address changes.
I like most of the new blog.
But very much NOT the bigger picture. Somehow the smaller picture with the apple is something I’m used to, but at a much larger size, the apple becomes more objectionable to me.
I know and see that it’s the same foto, but at the larger size, the clarity and details of the apple as an obstruction become far more bothersome for me.
I suggest you get a new, nice picture. Or a few small ones (4?) like you as a young dancer, this one, the one with you as a baby with grandmother, and something that reminds you about changing your mind from Lib Dem to Conservative, or at least neocon.
Tom G:
I actually do plan to change the photo eventually. It’s not my top priority right now, though I think I’ll end up doing it.
But it’s easy to vary the size. I just took the size down a notch. Let me know if that size looks good. I can take it down still further.
