I’m still going to do a bit of Emmy fashion
Why? Because I enjoy it.
First up—somewhere, a raven and a flamingo are missing their feathers:
I just don’t understand the need to publicly bare so very much of one’s breasts, but it’s rampant:
What’s up with the matching Ace bandage around the elbow?:
More breast-baring. An ugly dress on a woman who, dressed differently, could easily look a whole lot better:
I sort of like this one, in a weird way. It looks like a Star Trek costume, and the colors are very unusual, but it has a certain classic elegance. Then again, maybe I’ve just looked at too many of these dresses:
Oh, Jessica, no! Say it isn’t so! Looks like a Disney villainess:
I could go on—and on and on. I’ll stop now, but I really really like this one, although perhaps it’s the skirt action:
My favorite is the Ace Bandage.
I didn’t previously realize that bathing suits influenced the design of evening gowns.
Melania is more beautiful and has better taste in fashion than all of them combined and I am being completely sincere about it. The most beautiful and fashion forward lady among them should be Heidi Klum and I have to say Melania is more beautiful than her.
Melania has the better figure, boarder and more straighten shoulders, taller legs, much greater proportion as well.
I agree that Nicole’s dress is very lovely.
Could the color be what is often termed “Valentino Red”? It comes very close, I think.
Not to be unkind, but I have to ask what is up with Nicole’s face these days?
Like Nicole, I am a native Sydneysider and am about the same age. We both grew up in the Australian sun, in the Australian outdoors and subject to the beach culture of the 60’s and ’70’s where sun screen – even for red heads – was unheard of and would have been laughed at anyway by one’s peers. Ditto hats at the beach or anywhere else.
Yet Nicole, as a fair skinned and red-headed Australian woman of a certain age, appears to have no frown lines or crows feet at all. That’s just not possible. Nor is it an ideal look in my view.
Yes, she is still attractive and a fine actress and a gracious lady by all accounts but she needs to stop with the botox. She simply doesn’t need it.
I fell in love with this face as a young man: http://mashable.com/2016/01/14/nicole-kidman-young/#07T0nCrgcgqN
– not because it was a young face but because it was a beautiful face. It would be beautiful now, too, if she would just age naturally.
Knowing of your interest in fashion, it occurs to me that you might find this short item interesting:

I strongly commend to you and your fellow fashion-lovers the film Valentino: The Last Emperor (2008)
But not everyone ages ‘gracefully’. I’ve been told how tired I looked for years (I’m 51). I plan on having some of the lower eye bags snipped away in a year or so. The upper eye lids a year or two after that… I think Nicole Kidman has looked like an alien for 2 decades.
Star Trek dress – I LOVE the jewel tones.
Jessica – the gold on her shoulders, sleeves, etc mimics her having long blond hair. I think I like it!
Seeing these photos I like to imagine that there was moment, earlier in the day, when each one of those folks looked at themself in the mirror and thought, “damn, I look good!”.
Funny, it’s Jessica Lange I would have said should lay off the botox, not Nicole Kidman. I actually think Kidman’s face looks more natural in that photo than it has for years.
Neo:
Didn’t you know Ms Ace Bandage just finished donating platelets.
I suspect the popularity of baring so much of their breasts is connected to sending the message; I am woman! Look, here’s the proof!
Such insecure little people. Desperate for reassurance and attention. Using the cover of wealth in a vain attempt to hold at bay the transcience of youth and celebrity… was there ever a more pitiful assemblage?
Then, the truly depraved core revealed itself;
“Imagine if your President wasn’t loved by Nazis” Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Implying that everyone who voted for Trump secretely desires to make lampshades from their victim’s skin…
Regarding baring the breasts: It is all too common today. Seemsespec. when they’re bought (and skin has loosened a bit and what you end up seeing is, well more sag than bouyancy…I want to shout out
–you’re not displaying the best…
Neo, did you happen to notice the different shoes, i.e.; not wearing a matching pair? Not my cup of tea.
Ms. Klum still is very attractive, but that dress does nothing to really highlight it. The dress and Ms. Kidman were definitely the class of those selections, though- classy.
Baring the breasts: they have to glue the dresses on. Not my idea of comfortable. I’d worry about sweating the glue off. Every once in awhile some unsuspecting young women in flyover country, seeking to emulate the Hollywood glitterati doesn’t realize that dress is glued on, and walks around holding her dress on. Or flashing people.
Here’s the glue: http://www.dancemania.biz/blog/how-to-make-your-clothes-stay-put-with-body-adhesive/
This is showbiz. Notoriety is money in the bank. Saw Kate Mara in “Megan Leavey”
Looked up her record…she’s been very busy for years but nobody ever heard of her. If she were to show up on the red carpet with some crazy, unbecoming dress, she’d be closer to breaking out.
WRT the movie, it’s about a Marine dog handler in Iraq who, after discharge, tries to adopt her dog. For a movie with no big names, they spent a lot on production; battle scenes, vehicles, long shots of many Marines, helicopters, extras as Iraqi civilians. And no acknowledgment of help from the Marine Corps that I could see, so it was all front money.
Good flick, and if you ever wanted a dog, this will convince you that a german shepherd is the best choice.
Kidman’s dress is gorgeous!
I am relieved that the hideous sheer dress trend is finally ending.
I don’t have a problem with the bared breasts. Dos that make me a dirty old man?
“I just don’t understand the need to publicly bare so very much of one’s breasts”
To get the hot guys’ undivided attention, duh, Even in Hollywood the 20% rule holds. All the guys may be movie stars, but the women just invent a new standard that only 20% of the men meet, and will kill themselves and each other over that 20% while the other 80% wonder why they have to go out of state to find women willing to date them.
As to the first image, my first reaction was, “Shag carpet is a thing again?”
Ms Star Trek (above Jessica Lange) appears to have spent a lot of time in the pool lap swimming or in the gym; upper body well muscled, but without doubt the last (Nichole) shows the dress and herself most effectively (IMO).
Pics 1, 5 and 7 are nice dresses to me.
Ha! Perfect score–I did not recognize a single one of them. Though after reading the comments I look again and say “Oh yeah, I guess that is Nicole Kidman.”
I have always loved dresses with big, full skits. So I think Nicole’s is gorgeous. And red is my favorite. But who in the world hemmed it like that! What an awful job. And what is up with the pink shoes with a bright red dress?
Dustoffmom:
It’s not a hem, at least I don’t see it as a hem. It’s a sort of ribbon-like edging.
I think.
Speaking of art – tv medium and fashion, I thought you’d might find this interesting neo: https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/lifestyle/your-brain-on-art/?deferJs=true&hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_sa-kaufman-1216pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&outputType=default-article&utm_term=.41bc38a5ec01
