Scalise released from hospital
Rep. Steve Scalise has been discharged from MedStar Washington Hospital Center, the hospital said in a statement Wednesday, six weeks after he was shot at a congressional baseball practice.
Six weeks is quite a while to be in the hospital these days, but Scalise’s initial condition was extremely serious and he had complications afterwards, as well.
There seems to be an error in that report, however—it says, “He will now begin a period of intensive inpatient rehabilitation. ” Inpatient?? I thought he’d just been released. Wouldn’t that make it “outpatient”?
In or out, I wish him a speedy and uneventful recovery.
He will probably go to a impatient rehab until he gets to a certain level and then he will be on outpatient status. It’s just stepping down the level of care.

Thanks, I get it. So he’s going to a rehab facility.
Good news. He’s still got a tough road ahead, but it sure beats the alternative. Hoping he heals and regains his strength in good order. Such a senseless shooting.
Hi JJ…small quibble…and I apologize up front for picking nits…
“Such a senseless shooting”
Only to sensible people. To the progressive nevertrump cadre…it makes perfect sense.
He’s Hitler doncha know. He’s in bed with Russia doncha know. His policies will literally KILL MILLIONS of people doncha know. We have to resist and have blood in the streets doncha know.
The left in this country & their willing accomplices on the pretend-right do not care that they have sown the wind & are reaping the whirlwind. It’s all about snatching power back from the narrative buster President Trump & the vast wide sweep of his deplorable irredeemable voters…and irredeemables are therefore disposable doncha know.

Depends on how one defines “progressive nevertrumpers”.
Progressives (i.e. being from the left) the majority of whom are probably nevertrump almost by definition (how many could be swung to vote trump?), means a whole lot of people.
Wouldn’t want to over-generalize, right?
Majority of them probably would be appalled, though some, indeed, might cheer it – maybe the same ones who generalize the actions of loughner or roof to those on our side.
We don’t like it when they do that, right?
Good for Scalise. Wish him speedy recovery.
You don’t just get over serious gunshot wounds.
Ask Andy Warhol and Pope John Paul II.
I was worried about Scalise. I’m glad he’s out of intensive care but I know it’s not over.
Most likely he will continue to suffer pain and inconvenience. His life will probably be shorter than it would have been otherwise.
God bless.
Hi Maq
I said what I meant and I meant what I said.
And trust me…I don’t ever confuse nevertrumpers with sensible at all.
Loughner and Roof were never on the right.
Nice try for the standard Maq equivalency…but again no dice.
For anyone old enough to remember the violence of the late 1960s and the 1970s this is deja vu all over again. The hard left are doing what they always do.. death and destruction. Been here before, got the t-shirt. This too shall pass, or CW2.

Millions of Americans are going to be extinguished irregardless of what Democrats or Republicans do in DC.
It’s way too late now.
@JG – and I don’t associate Scalise’s shooter as representing all progressive nevertrumpers (or now just nevertrumpers, as you put it, without qualification, since you say what you mean) for whom you claim this somehow “makes sense”.
There are all kinds of mentally ill who will do these horrendous things, in the name of … whatever they choose, and it doesn’t have to make any sense.
We don’t like the left slandering us with examples of such sick actions, and we needn’t do the same. It doesn’t have to be a strong association either for the slander to happen – Palin is suing NYT over such a case.
If they point to a few who do cheer it on as somehow proof of their claim, doesn’t mean we all are on board, or even that large numbers of us are.
Bottom Line: There’s plenty to rightly point to the left about with disdain, we don’t have to go overboard in our claims.
Maq…You continue to make these gross equivalences where none exist. You’re supposed to be a bright guy so you should do better than this.
Palin had nothing to do with the Giffords shooting. Loughner & Roof were never of the right. The left made those linkages out of thin air. Just like you, which is why I lump you into the “pretend-right.” You do exactly what the progressives do and pretend you have a higher moral bar because you “pretend” to the right. But that’s all it is: a pretense.
The guy who shot Scalise WAS A BERNIE SUPPORTER. He actually went to Bernie rallies. He WAS a leftist. Surely even with your myopia you can tell the difference. It is leftists who have done the beheading of Trump gag and who riot at every opportunity & who shut down universities…not the right.
Read my last paragraph again please:
“The left in this country & their willing accomplices on the pretend-right do not care that they have sown the wind & are reaping the whirlwind. It’s all about snatching power back from the narrative buster President Trump & the vast wide sweep of his deplorable irredeemable voters…and irredeemables are therefore disposable doncha know.”
You along with most folks who hate President Trump would love to see him out of office by hook or by crook, and you will reap the whirlwind because the deplorables and irredeemables won’t simply die off or go quietly.
The path for rehab can be complex. Ten years ago I after I got out of ICU and a step-down unit they sent me to another area hospital for further recovery and the start of rehab. This was because I wasn’t strong enough for that hospital’s rehab program. Ten weeks later I was judged strong enough for their hospital’s rehab program and transferred to another branch of the original hospital where I spent about four months. I walked out of there. Slowly, and with a walker, but I walked out, and started outpatient rehab the following week.
It’s actually better this way than if the assassination had worked. This way, they can’t remove his seat prematurely. It can be strategically useful in the future for Leftists or ant iLeftists, who want to influence Congress.
When I had my lumbar spine ‘remodeled’ four years go, I was in the hospital for a week. I was then released, and taken to an in-patient rehab facility across town. Check out, check in.
After a week there, I went home, and started two months of out-patient rehab at yet another facility.
