Kids got talent
I am often amazed at the singing skills demonstrated by youngsters on those talent reality shows. They seem to be genuinely nice kids, too, full of energy and drive. After all, think how much work it takes—and how much confidence—to sing like this at these ages, and to perform with such elan:
You may think I’m overdoing it here, but I think that their focused and possibly obsessive pursuit of excellence demonstrates something great about the human spirit.
And I love the proud and tearful parents, too.
Oh my…listening to that wonderful humble little girl with her ‘bunny’ singing her guts out…hope my kids don’t come in here & see their old man crying with joy and admiration over a complete stranger…they’d think I’ve lost my mind.
Of course I cry when they perform too…but that’s not the point.
This style of singing is completely inexpressive to me.
Kids are great at singing, dancing and acting. Shirley temple was doing that in the movies when she was 5 years old.
Evidence of the inequality of talent that is a person’s genetic inheritance. We all have some inherited talents, but they are not equally distributed. Therein lies much of the angst on the left.. That said, many have talent and do not discover it and/or do not make the effort to develop it. It has been my opinion that our life work is that of, first, discovering our talents, such as they may be, and secondly doing our best to develop them. We all have some inherited talents. Sometimes they are quite obvious. As in these bright young singers. Sometimes they are difficult to figure out. However, easy or difficult, it is our life’s work.
NPR has a shoe, From The Top, which features young classical music performers. I’m always impressed Their enthusiasm and their sophisticated innocence.

Once I went through those videos, I think I spent about an hour or so watching others. All impressive. The bunny one was the best.
This one’s from Holland. Apparently, she wanted to “do something” and listened to various songs until she found one she liked. I don’t think she’s old enough to have done a lot of work and training.
Sheesh.

The lass with the rabbit was very, very enjoyable, indeed!
