Actually, it’s one of the very few fossil mushrooms we have.
But all mushrooms, fossilized or otherwise, look pretty ancient to me.

The fascinating posts you provide are always a nice change of pace from the politics of the day. I had no idea that mushroom fossils were possible. And, fungi are such a strange form of life. Its fun to see them spring up seemingly over night, especially if you discover a bunch of morels.
BTW, another grandchild was born early this morning. Sawyer Eastwood are his given names; 7 lbs 11 oz. Mom is doing well and milk is flowing. Joyful day here.
