Suspect in Swedish terrorism attack appears to be another known wolf
No surprise here:
The suspect in Stockholm’s deadly beer truck attack is a 39-year-old native of Uzbekistan who had been on authorities’ radar previously, Swedish authorities said Saturday…
There is nothing that tells us that we have the wrong person,” Dan Eliason told a news conference Saturday, but added he did not know whether others were involved in the attack. “We cannot exclude this.”
Eliason also said police found something in the truck that “could be a bomb or an incendiary object, we are still investigating it.”
Prosecutor Hans Ihrman said the suspect has not yet spoken to authorities and could not confirm whether he was a legal resident of Sweden…
[Police] said the suspect had been on their radar before but not recently, and did not explain why authorities apparently had not considered him a serious threat.
I have little doubt that some Swedish people are alarmed enough to think that something needs to change in terms of Swedish policy towards immigrants—or migrants, or whatever word you want to use. But these quotes from the article illustrates what I imagine might be the prevailing attitude of acceptance that this is the price Swedes must pay to consider themselves tolerant:
Steve Eklund, 35, who works in an office nearby, said “maniacs can’t be stopped.”
“It’s very simple. Things like this will always happen in an open society,” Eklund said. “Sweden is not a totalitarian society.” …
“We must get through this. Life must go on,” [Swedish Prime Minister] Lofven said Saturday after again laying flowers near the crash site. “We in Sweden want an open society.”
“Open,” that is, even to people who don’t believe in the principles of Swedish society, including its openness (an openness they nevertheless exploit to get their own feet into the door of that society).
Here’s a fact I had forgotten but which that article reminded me of (the following is from an article written in mid-February of 2017):
During a rally in Florida on Saturday, Mr. Trump said “look what’s happening last night in Sweden” as he alluded to past terror attacks in Europe. It wasn’t clear what he was referring to and there were no high-profile situations reported in Sweden on Friday night.
Two days later, there were some riots in Sweden. Now this—which occurred on a Friday, by the way.
If Trump ever does get impeached, or retires, maybe he can go into the fortune-telling business.
I’ve heard it said that the German people feel such guilt for the atrocities of WWII that they have spent the last 70 years overcompensating which has now led them to be so blindly welcoming of the current influx of refugees that they are killing themselves.
But the Swedes don’t have anything nearly so troubling in their past to account for this almost pathological death wish they seem to be on. Strange, strange behavior on a societal level.
Trump was talking about what he saw on the Tucker Carlson show about the problems with Muslim refugees there. Carlson interviewed a filmmaker, Ari Horowitz, who had been in Sweden doing a documentary about the issues. Horowitz reported that Sweden was experiencing a lot of crime committed by Muslim immigrants but were trying to ignore it or cover it up. Right on schedule, after Trump made his statement about how awful things are in Sweden, the Prime Minister denied it. And then they had a riot. Very fortuitous for Trump. Not so much for Swedish government authorities.

Well, he seems to be the kind of person in the cities, in the predominately leftist cities, who just lets this stuff happen and happen and happen over and over.
In a way it’s justice that the leftoids who let this crap happen and continue to happen will be, to a large degree, the same people slaughtered by the Muslims. I certainly hope that Ekland is among them so he can taste the fruits of his tolerance first hand.
Griifin,
There are certainly Germans who do feel guilt, but there are also plenty of left wingers, just like in America, who push their agenda by the guilt thing.Look what is happening in our universities, where the students are trying to erase history so they can feel superior.
Vanderleun:
Four people were killed. You have no idea who they were or what they supported. And even if they were leftists, a death sentence at the hands of a terrorist is hardly justice. Wishing Elkland and his ilk dead at their hands is morally revolting.
Do you wish your liberal friends and relatives would die at their hands?
expat,
I would imagine that as those who may have genuinely felt guilt have died off they have been replaced by the leftists that you refer to. I suppose their is the pragmatic ‘we need people’ crowd also involved in this as German (and other western European) birthrates drop.
Crazy, short sighted societal suicide I fear.
If the immigrants came from countries where Ebola and Zika were rampant, no one would be letting them and there would be hysteria if the authorities tried. Muslims murder each other by the millions, literally, and it’s a good thing to do.
“Wishing Elkland and his ilk dead at their hands is morally revolting.”
Well said. Thank you Neo.
” Wishing Elkland and his ilk dead at their hands is morally revolting.
Do you wish your liberal friends and relatives would die at their hands?”
A fine sentiment and a dubious question. Neither “my” friends nor “my” relatives.
Perhaps stated a bit too forcefully, but the main point stands that the societies in which this happens and continues to happen… be they nations like Sweden or various sanctuary cities… are places where the left dominates and continues to live and continues to make it possible for the attacks to continue… AND always, but always, comes back with the fookin’ flower towers and the candles in the wind… and never ever reviews and reverses the votes and policies that have brought this about… but instead seem to double down….
And that’s why they are — have imported the wolves and the monsters — going to continue to be slaughtered with such predictable regularity with nothing being done…
It really is a result of their beliefs and their votes… and it will continue without change right up until the moment that genocide breaks out….
Depend upon it.
Oh Bill… Bill…. just you wait.
Or, as somebody else cited around here liked to say:
“We’ll see.”
I don’t wish Elkland dead, but his blinders are inexcusable. A society can be open without multicultural idiocy. Inviting blood thirsty savages into your society, finding they do not assimilate and expect you to accommodate their rape and murder, and then invite in more people from the same failed cultures is insanity.
Wake up Western Civilization or gradually condemn your children and grandchildern to sharia.
Islam must be destroyed.
Indeed it must. By deportation and quarantine or by fire.
Or…. as somebody else around here said once:
As a lifelong liberal Democrat turned neocon, I feel ashamed of my former naivete. After all, I used to actually believe liberals were above such dirty tricks. And so I feel the intense anger of a person whose lover has been unfaithful: long ago, I trusted these people, and they have betrayed me, over and over, in a time of grave danger. I’m not likely to forgive them. — Draftscam
It seems the perp, the killer of four by truck, and maimer of 15, is an Uzbeckistani (Muslim) immigrant previously surveilled by the Swedes. This is what has happened repeatedly. “Yeah he was on our radar but we had nothing with which to charge and detain him.”
Sweden is a police state turned inside out. They surveill but do not act except after the brutal fact of random criminality. The Swedes pay the cops to be paper pushers. “To protect and to serve” has no meaning.
DeBlasio and his lib confreres are after the same type of policing. Broken window policing under Giuliani and Bloomberg yielded mighty dividends, but the libs are throwing it all away, in NYC and in Sweden.
Malmo, Sweden is the Muslim rape capital of the country. So it goes.

* * *
Indeed. But no one can figure out how, apparently.
Because they aren’t willing to make the hard choices on the sources of the violence.
MSNBC can top Draftscam in idiocy, although not in complexity:
http://libertyunyielding.com/2017/04/08/msnbc-hosts-bizarre-theory-putin-behind-chem-attack-syria-way-help-trump/
LAWRENCE O’DONNELL, MSNBC: “Wouldn’t it be nice if it was just completely, totally, absolutely impossible to suspect that Vladimir Putin orchestrated what happened in Syria this week, so that his friend in the White House could have a big night, with missiles and all of the praise he has picked up over the last 24 hours?
Wouldn’t it be so nice if you couldn’t even in your wildest dreams imagine a scenario like that?
I don’t know what it is. Is it a two percent chance? Is is a 50 percent chance? Is it, I don’t know.
But I don’t think it’s a zero percent chance, and it used to be with every other President besides Donald Trump.”
AesopFan,
It is not a “hard choice”. Its a matter of not joining the 3 monkeys cult of refusing to see, hear, and speak reality. The progressives, who are not progressive but instead a death cult, much like the people who drank the Jim Jones’ koolaid.
If only they killed themselves it would be one thing, the fact that they want to murder me and mine is another thing. Tomorrow I will reload another 100 rounds of 8MM for my 2 Mausers. I will do it to find a bit of sanity and feel serenity.
Okay. We shouldn’t wish Ekland dead.
But. Some people are going to die of this nonsense. Would it not be more just if the victims were those who supported and facilitated the “open society” instead of those who don’t?
We are not in a position to choose or to insist on substitutions.
We can, though, think about what would be more just.
Pre-Reformation Christianity long ago recognized the distinction between unjust and just wars.
The non-war against Islam in Sweden (and elsewhere) is unjust. A war will be just.
Christians, of whom there are today few in Sweden, and non-believers alike are not to be randomly slaughtered with “Ah well” responses like Eklund’s that “Things like this will always happen in an open society.”
Fact is, such things as random, religion-based slaughter of infidels did NOT happen in Western societies until militant Islam raised its ugly head. Please don’t mention the Indian Wars, which were carried out as government policy against tribes who refused to negotiate and who killed frontier settlers.
Reminds me of the two heads of the American Friends’ Service Committee (Quaker) interviewed after 9/11 and the question of “What do you as pacifists offer as an appropriate response?” After silence, then sputtering, they suggested the matter be referred to the UN, an entity not exactly awash with pacifists.
Being passive is inappropriate. A vigorous and aggressive counter to these mass, random murders is the only sane response. Islam is an ideology disguised as a religion, thanks to Muhamed in 623 AD as a preface to his zeal for conquest, starting with Medina.
Thought experiment:
Suppose Mohammed wrote all this stuff down about what to do in life, from halal food to killing infidels and didn’t mention any divine being? No religion. No Allah. Just a bunch of things a billion and a half people follow one way or another. Presume the political and social landscape is as it is today.
Lacking Allah as cover, how would Islam be treated? No First Amendment issue, no question of religious toleration.
Yeah, I know. Without the religion thing it wouldn’t have spread, and all that.
This is a thought experiment, not alternate history.
There will always be bank robberies, but that is not a reason to keep the safe unlocked and the doors open.
Here’s my favourite Swede, Annika Hernroth-Rothstein, speaking cogently about the incident to Tucker Carlson.

Neo will probably get to this, in a rule of law themed post.
But viewers of Drudge will have already noticed a LA Times link to an article with the headline: “Rio Grande Valley is unusually quiet as Southwest border crossings drop to lowest point in at least 17 years”
The sky has been falling. Nothing could be done about it. It’s the future. Resistance is futile.
Until a chief executive officer was elected who was seemingly willing to enforce the laws on the books.
If we cannot ban all cars or ban all Muslims, we probably can do a more humble thing, ban Muslims riding cars?
