Obama’s parting shot at Israel and at Trump — 12 Comments

  1. Andrew McCarthy: “Thus the unending pattern that the United States and Western European powers cravenly refuse to address: Islamic factions and nations are free to reserve the right to eradicate Israel, but Israel must pretend the aggression never happened and the continuing threat does not exist.”

That’s the plain fact. It’s a double standard. Nothing will change until that changes.

I like Graham’s idea of using U.S. funding as leverage to cancel the resolution. The UN was once a hopeful means of maintaining good relations among all nations. Instead, it has become a place for non-Western nations to harass and demonize the West – all the while enjoying the hospitality of the United States along with our lion’s share of the funding.
Like so many bureaucracies, the UN has long ago become a bloated, ineffective creature of little import in working toward its original goals. Such a shame. Or as the President-elect would say, “Sad.”

  2. When Obama was first elected, it seems to me that the New York Times called for Bush to step down and let Obama take over immediately.

Why don’t they call for that now?

Obama, if you are not going to step down immediately, at least shut up and let Trump take over.

  3. While the Washington Post editorial does for the most part call out Obama, it is worth looking at the comments section. There some comments that are pro-Israel, but there are numerous anti-Semitic and anti-Israel comments, par for the course for WaPo readers.

  4. I remember hearing Ed Koch speak at my synagogue a few years ago shortly after Obama’s declaration to AIPAC that “he had Israel’s back”. Koch complained that he’d rather Obama had Israel’s front. I suspect that even then he saw through Obama’s thin veneer of pro-Israel protestations.

  5. Obama has gotten Graham, McCain, Cruz and Cotton to join forces against the anti-Semitic UN and threaten to cut off funds if they don’t rescind the resolution. So Obama continues a feat no one else could accomplish….uniting the various factions of the Republican Party. Keep up the good work Hussein!

  6. The scrawny moral coward stays consistently the Useless Punk he’s been for 8-years as president. Perpetual travel and “campaigning” combined with No Hard Work in the Oval, No Leadership, Mendacity on Steroids and Total Embrace of His “Godfather’s” tome, “Rules For Radicals”.

An eight year Catastrophe for America & the World.

  7. I’m still grappling with what this means other than symbolically. Will Israel be forced to do something different? Will the U.S. be forced not to build in Washington D.C. or Mexico in Mexico City? It seems like everything is backwards these days but things only move in increments.

Other than the most Israel hating people does any normal person support Obama?

  8. Baklava:

I’ve got a new post just up, and it might answer at least some of your questions.
