Emerging thoughts on the Dallas shooting of police
There’s an awful lot to digest today, a lot.
Now it is being reported that during last night’s sniper attack in Dallas 12 officers and two civilians were shot, and five officers have died. That may be the largest death toll of police deliberately shot in one incident in this country, although I haven’t been able to ascertain for sure whether that’s true. In addition, one of the perpetrators is dead, not a suicide as originally reported but killed by a police-detonated “bomb robot” after a lengthy standoff.
Attacks on police have certainly occurred in this country before, but the aspect of last night’s killings that made it possible for the perpetrator[s] to shoot so very many officers seems to have been that the gunfire came from above, sniper-style. When I first heard some of the details of last night, one thought that occurred to me was that all or some of these snipers seem to have had specialized training, perhaps military in nature, to have been able to pull off something of this magnitude without injuring even more civilians. Another thought of mine was that whoever it was doing the shooting, this person or people didn’t much care whether civilians were killed, because firing into a demonstration like that is obviously going to expose demonstrators to grave risk, too.
Authorities have now identified the dead perpetrator as:
…Micah X. Johnson, 25, a former Army reservist and resident of the Dallas area…
Johnson had no known criminal history or ties to terror groups, the official said, and has relatives in Mesquite, Texas, which is just east of Dallas…
Authorities believe Johnson belonged to an informal gun club and took copious amounts of target practice, according to a law enforcement official…
Brown said a hostage negotiator spoke with the gunman at length before he was killed about 2:30 a.m.. The chief said the attacker said he was upset “with white people” and with recent police shootings. The suspect also said that he was not affiliated with any groups and that he acted alone, Brown said.
“The suspect said we will eventually find the IEDs,” Brown said, a reference to explosives. “He wanted to kill officers. And he expressed killing white people, killing white officers, he expressed anger for Black Lives Matter.”
So there’s fodder there for the anti-gun people (belonging to a gun club, etc.)—although inevitably they would use this opportunity anyway, no matter what, to make guns the culprit. However, a man this determined is going to get guns any way he can, despite any sort of gun control (plus he had no criminal record or other red flags, as far as we know).
I wonder, also, whether any of the people who have spent the last couple of years screaming police brutality against blacks are reflecting on how long the police held off killing this guy—how much forbearance police showed under the circumstances with five of their fellow officers dead.
It remains to be seen whether the other people in custody are connected to this guy or whether he really did act alone, as he stated. It’s hard to believe the latter, because so many people seem to perceive—from the direction and scope of the gunfire—that there were multiple shooters. But eyewitnesses can often be wrong.
There is little question in my mind that the perpetrator or perpetrators wished to increase racial enmity in this country through this act. My guess is that his or their philosophy is similar to that of a group I wrote about in a 2014 post on cop killers of the early 1970s, the BLA-affiliated murderers of NYPD officers Rocco Laurie and Greg Foster:
Probably the most famous police officer ambush case was that of partners and Vietnam vets Gregory Foster and Rocco Laurie, which occurred in January of 1972. Witnesses and an investigation indicated that they were shot in the back by BLA [Black Liberation Army] members as the officers walked down the street on their beat, and then shot again multiple times as they lay dying and the murderers had grabbed their service revolvers. The murders of Foster and Laurie caused a furor because they were part of a war on police, but also because both were well-liked, young, handsome, left young grieving wives and a great deal of fear in the NYPD, and because they were good friends and an interracial team (Foster was black and Laurie white). There was a 1974 book and a 1975 movie about the heinous crime, and although there were suspects (some of which have died or been killed in the ensuing years), no one has ever been tried for their murders.
The atmosphere today resembles the feeling that was in the air back in the early 70s, and that is most definitely not a good thing. This mood could be felt building and building prior to the murder of Ramos and Liu [two NYPD police officers ambushed and murdered at the time I wrote the post, in December of 2014], and the fear is that it will keep on building. Today, unlike in the 70s, even our leadership””and by that I mean Barack Obama (who consorts with the likes of Al Sharpton), Eric Holder, Bill de Blasio, for example””fans the flames of the hatred in ways subtle and not-so-subtle.

Foster, who was black, and Laurie, who was white, were apparently targeted because of the interracial aspects of their partnership:
Two days [after their murder], police received a hand-printed letter signed by the BLA, a violent militant group which targeted and assassinated police officers across the country, claiming responsibility for killing Laurie and Foster.
“They were targeting what they called the ”˜salt-and-pepper,’ the black and white teams, and they didn’t like that, that the blacks and whites were working together,” Mrs. Laurie said.
There had been an ambush of a similarly interracial team the previous year, apparently committed by the same group.

The newly formed BLA believed that “the character of reformism is based on unprincipled class collaboration with our enemy” and asserted the following principles:
That we are anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-racist, and anti-sexist.
That we must of necessity strive for the abolishment of these systems and for the institution of Socialistic relationships in which Black people have total and absolute control over their own destiny as a people.
That in order to abolish our systems of oppression, we must utilize the science of class struggle, develop this science as it relates to our unique national condition.
That somewhat explains the group’s targeting of interracial police teams, who were probably seen as examples of “reformist class collaboration with the enemy.” The BLA was thought to be responsible for at least 13 police killings over the years as well as many many other acts of violence (including an airplane hijacking). I doubt that someone like present-day cop killer Micah X. Johnson espoused leftist thought quite so openly; the influence of the left is probably more subtle but still very much present. Today’s proliferation of social media has its place, too, fanning the flames of every injustice and perceived injustice and spreading the word (a good example is the spate of recent threats to kill police that have been disseminated though Twitter).
I expect to have more to say about all of this in the next few days, as more information comes out. But the phenomenon of racial attacks on police is not new, although the scope of this particular attack is larger. It’s not at all clear whether it will spark other attacks of the sort or not, and what the ultimate fallout will be. I can even imagine it might engender some sympathy for police and increased appreciation for what they do, but I do not think that’s the most likely result at all. I think the most likely result by far will be a worsening of the anger and fear on both sides, which has already increased to a dangerous level.
[NOTE: I had some trouble thinking of a title for this post. “Police shooting” immediately conjures up the opposite of what happened, implying a shooting by police. The phrase “shooting of police” was the best I could come up with, but I realize that even that might not make it clear (to Google, for example) that I’m referring to a situation in which it was the police officers who were shot.]

We know that there were multiple shooters. One cop was executed by a perp on the ground. While most shots were fired from an elevated position.
NO way did those snipers all coincidentally decide to attack cops at the same location and time.
And there is a profound difference between stating a desire to kill “white cops” versus “white people”. It’s hate filled racism, fomented by the Left and enabled by the Left’s liberal “useful idiots”.

I was writing about the BLA two years ago, for example (as this post demonstrates) and I’ve known about this type of thing since the 60s and 70s, since I’m old enough to remember some of it for myself even without doing research (I do research, of course, to refresh my memory).

Anyone so ignorant of Africa’s tribal dysfunctionalism is by definition, disconnected from reality. Individuals and organizations disconnected from reality can certainly do much harm but their dysfunction ensures their unsustainability.
So too with the Left, which is the point that Richard Fernandez over @ the Belmont Club has been belaboring for quite some time.
Historically, on a generational time frame, no socialistic society can stay socialistic, they either abandon it (Columbia, Chile) or they evolve into a communist state. Communism’s inescapable crushing of the soul ensures its demise as well. Once total control is achieved, it possesses no further resources to draw upon and begins its inescapable slide into dissolution. Only outside resources can save a communist society from itself. Cuba had the Soviet. N.Korea would have collapsed long ago if China did not prop it up. China would have collapsed by now had not the West propped it up. The Soviets had no larger outside source upon which to draw.
The only exception to a totalitarian ideology’s unsustainability are one’s wrapped in religious pretense like Islam. “Allah wills it!” is Islam’s escape valve.

No, of course not. Neither I, nor most people, will.
But why do you care? It is not necessary to read everything in order to understand the basics.
So why would you care that people don’t read everything, if they get the basics? No one—no one—is going to do that reading, so give up on flooding people with it. You may read at a speed of thousands of pages an hour (or whatever your speed is) but most people do not, and they must budget their time.
And the more you harangue people, the less they will listen to you.
I don’t know how far the race baiters; e.g. Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Governor of Minnesota, et al intend this to go; but, I believe that they are helping to light the fuse on a keg of dynamite (I know that is an archaic term). It has become standard practice now to rush out to be the first to throw stones before all of the facts are known, much less evaluated. (Someone today described it as “trial by video”.
The white population has for the most part been remarkably patient as the level of animosity has escalated, and many on the left have actually sided with the racial agitators. If the limits of patience are exceeded; if significant numbers of the white community begins to react in the way that segments of the Black have done, there will surely be hell to pay.
This country needs some honest, level headed, and courageous leadership in the worst way. I don’t know where to look.

The TBI says 37-year-old Lakeem Keon Scott was armed with at least two weapons, an automatic-style rifle, a pistol and a large amount of ammunition, reports CBS statation WJHL in Tennessee.
According to the TBI, the victims were:
Jennifer Rooney ( A Bristol Herald Courier newspaper carrier) : Deceased after being shot driving in her vehicle on Volunteer Parkway.
Deborah Watts: In serious, but stable, condition at Bristol Regional Medical Center after being shot while working at the Days Inn.
David Whitman Davis: Received minor injuries at the scene after being injured by flying glass resulting from the gunfire.
Officer Matthew Cousins: Sustained a superficial wound to the leg. Was subsequently treated and released from BRMC.
Preliminary findings indicate Scott may have targeted people and officers after being troubled by recent events involving African-Americans and law enforcement officers in other parts of the country.

Since you have a soft spot for the arts, please consider this:
Although most screenwriters and others in the production chain in Hollywood are dedicated lefties and feign support for BLM and the like, some of them also have a feel for the moment that may account for their success.
Exhibit 1 is the NBC show, “Aquarius”, which takes place in 1968 in Southern California centered around an LA homicide detective who is there for the Manson family, Tate-LaBianca murders, MLK and RFK assassinations, etc. (OT, never knew Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys was involved with Manson).
Manson’s goal was Helter Skelter, a race war, just as it is the goal of a not inconsiderable number today, including many powerful people. The screenwriters and other creatives must have felt this, and even though it is counter to all their expressed political views, they understood it and could make a buck from it.
We need to carefully consider where the sanctimonious, lying, immoral, self-serving, largely black upper echelon of the Obama administration and Congress (Hussein, Holder, Lynch, Johnson, Cummings, Sheila Lee as examples) is leading us as a nation; where it has been leading us. With the help of Comey, Koskinen, Reid, Blumenthal, Dayton…and the list goes on.
It is a simmer turning into a boil. The cries of “racism” will carry them only so far.
It will be interesting to see if the BLMs continue to assemble in “protests.” They are more vulnerable to armed assault than the police, in Dallas and elsewhere. It is reasonable to expect an assault on them in light of Dallas yesterday plus their lawless activities these past two years. Two years! I’m not advocating that; I anticipate that.
The intimidation by and political power of blacks will not be surrendered to reasonableness. That is why I think we must anticipate a counter-reaction. Which will play right into Obama’s hands and further enhance the national black power trip.

The fact is that over 6,000 blacks die of homicide each year. That is more than white and Hispanic homicide victims combined, even though blacks are 13 percent of the nation’s population. And the reason they are dying of homicide at a rate six times higher than whites and Hispanics combined is because they commit homicide at eight times the rate higher than whites and Hispanics combined. And that type of crime disparity means that when the police are trying to save lives, they are in minority neighborhoods confronting people engaged in drive‑by shootings, killing children.
A single shooter is not out of the realm of possibility. There are millions of people outside the military and law enforcement who could kill 5 and wound 7 others within a few minutes or less using a bolt action rifle, let alone a semi-auto rifle. It will be interesting to see the forensics. I suspect a 30 cal rifle was used, not a 223. The total of shots fired by the murderer/s will also be of interest.
But the real story is as others have stated, is that bho and the entire clan of race hustlers are complicit in the spate of assassinations of cops. More lives will be lost and they will gleefully wash their hands in blood.

I may have mentioned this here previously, but I was at Stanford University last year and witnessed a talk given by Alicia Garza, one of the founders of BLM and probably its most vocal and well-publicized exponent. I was impressed with her charisma and soft, firm way of speaking that was eloquent and taut with meaning. She’s a serious player and has real plans for BLM that go way beyond agitation about police shootings of black men, in fact – she claims openly that this is a “tactic”. She has said, in another speech at the Left Forum (available for viewing on YouTube) that BLM is a “tactic” and the real goal is black liberation, a revival of the “Black Liberation Movement”. She said, “BLM – BLM” making a gesture from one hand to another to illustrate their equivalence. Further, she stated that the goal is revolution, the overthrow of capitalism. She is not a Bernie Sanders supporter of revolution lite, she’s a hardcore communist. She knows how to play her audience and when speaking to CNN or the New Yorker, she sounds a bit more reasonable, but make no mistake – she is every bit as serious about revolution as the Black Liberation Army of old. In fact, her talk at Stanford was about talking to members of the “old left” (new left in the sixties) about what worked and what did not and learning to do better this time. She mentioned names like Assata Shakur, Black Panthers, SDS, and others from the sixties and seventies. So BLM is really not just about trying to rein in police abuses, it is using that issue, even creating it or amplifying it, to create revolution and a left that is formidable and effective. So yes, these are dangerous people.
Of course, Garza has publicly denounced the police shootings but I have seen enough of her speeches to leftist audiences to know she is dangerous. Or, if she hasn’t figured out that these types of shootings are the inevitable result of her rhetoric with BLM, then she’s naive. I don’t think so.
Other supporters of BLM want an end to police period. These folks are the same who want an end to prisons. In a utopian world, we could have no police or prison but we do not have a utopian world. I doubt we ever will unless human nature changes and that’s a whole other discussion. I think Garza also wants to see the end of police. Again, BLM is a dangerous and anti-capitalist, communist and black nationalist, black revolutionary movement. They don’t say “communist” any more but they don’t have to.
I am just sick about these shootings of police and I expect this to get worse though I pray it does not.
The funny thing to me is that Garza (her married name) is from a gated community in Marin County and yes, from money. Like so many revolutionaries she’s a privileged person (in spite of being black, yes privileged or at least she has had “advantages”) and she wants to rip down the system that helped to create the wealth and prosperity her family enjoys. What is also funny was that in a KPFA radio interview, she said her brother does not agree and is a Ron Paul supporter! He believes in “that individual rights are important”… she said. Hah! They have “struggled” over this.
BTW, it just occurred to me that Garza has always mentioned “freedom” in her speeches which NO lefties mention. It is a staple of the classic liberal/libertarian right and not the communist left. Maybe her brother has influenced her a bit? We can only hope he influences her more in their continued “struggles”.
Garza et al. only want to get rid of the wrong police and prisons; the Destroyers always end up with their own gulags and enforcers.
However, if there are enough people who want to live in the BLM Universe, we could give them Detroit and Chicago and a couple of other cities (walled to protect them from subversion by the outsiders, of course) and let them rule themselves.

I perceived and noted that BLMatter was an offshoot and affiliate of Nation of Islam and Black Panthers for some time now. Btw, when the profile of Alicia says “Former Black Panther” that means “current graduate of BP”. BP and Nation of Islam has been overlapping for some time, but they always graduate and become “former BP” so to speak. But they aren’t out of the organization. They “graduate” and have their histories and records scrubbed.
Sort of like Ayers, although his route was because the sub director of the FBI, responsible for setting up the op to get rid of Nixon, also covered for Ayers.
As for what this means for Dallas, it means they should look at the operational similarity between this one and the Muslims shooters in DC.

Detroit is already half using private police forces. The Left sort of abandoned Detroit because the money went away. Chicago is still theirs, however.
So I recommend leaving Detroit alone, because it can resurface as a conservative haven due to private security and companies offering jobs. Chicago cannot leave the Left, due to the Left’s mafia esque control of it.
