The history of Molenbeek’s decline
This is of interest:
The troubles for Molenbeek began under the administration of district’s socialist mayor Philippe Moureaux, who ruled from 1992 till 2012. Under his reign the law and order collapsed, and businesses fled the district unable to cope with rising crime. The district with migrant Muslim population of about 40 percent, has since turned into a No-Go Zone for law enforcement…
The decline of Molenbeek is the story of a declining European civilisation. Proudly bearing the nickname of “Little Manchester,” the district was once at the heart of Europe’s mercantile success story at the advent of capitalism. Decades of Socialist misrule and unrestricted migration have turned the suburb into “Little Beirut” ”” a safe haven for Islamic terrorism.
Socialism creates the decline, and other groups come in, like parasites on a weakened host.
Speaking of weakened hosts, there is a tide of opinion in Europe not just against the death penalty (abolished everywhere but Belarus), but even against life sentences.
[NOTE: SEE this for a previous post of mine about Molenbeek.]
As Ace said, they refer to the “slow death” of life sentences like that is a bad thing.
You hit the nail Neo, That’s the problem the softness approach to this matter.

I’ve also read that a lot of these violent jihadis are criminals and members of criminal gangs. In Belgium if some one is being prosecuted for any crime, the prosecuters cannot share information with any other investgators. Plus, the police cannot conduct any raids between 9PM and 5AM, further limiting the gathering of information that might throw light on terrorist cells.
I remember NYC prior to the election of Rudi Gulianni. It was a pest hole under John Lindsay and David Dinkins with filth everywhere and a murder rate that was through the roof. There was lots of liberal handwringing about oppressing the poor if there was a crackdown on the bad behavior and crime. Nothing we can do about it, you’ll have to learn to live with young women being gang raped in Central Park at high noon on a sunny weekend day. The poor are the victims of the white oppressor class. Same **** and the same reasoning.
The Democratic Party and its clones in Europe are the party of the lawless and irresponsible. It’s a fair description of both the leadership and a good fraction of their constituents. The rest of the constituents are virtue signaling their concern for the underclass but immune to the consequences of the policies.
Milton Friedman said it best: “That which you want more of, reward.” That one sentence pretty much sums up all that is wrong with public policy; city, state and federal.
I read that those Imams, jihadists, when they been in prisons they using the facility for converting their mats to Islam!!
So they convert the prison to Madrasah!!
Of course why not if all western prisons represent for them as a castle in Vienna, free food, free sporting facilities, free health , and more over Packet money as social payout from tax payer money been in prison for terrorist acts!!!
It’s not entirely certain who has the opinions wrt the death penalty. I’ve heard there are surveys showing the population doesn’t want to lose the DP but the Eurocrats want to drop it. Given the structure of the EU, the ‘crats win.
The death penalty.
In some US states this dropped
“The Democratic Party and its clones in Europe are the party of the lawless and irresponsible. It’s a fair description of both the leadership and a good fraction of their constituents.” Paul in Boston
That used to be my perception as well and still is about their constituents. The European and American leftist party leadership however is another story.
They are intentionally encouraging and facilitating entry for Muslim migration and illegal immigration into America as a means of dissolving the cultural bonds upon which nationhood is based. It’s not accidental happenstance that George Soros’ organization is named the “Open Borders Society”. Both the European and American left are deeply steeped in the theory of transnationalism, which asserts that wars, racism and economic inequality are the direct result of nationalism.
This may come across as weird, but here goes…. In many ways, it is difficult for individuals to escape tribalism. I confess that my first loyalty is to my extended family, we are a united front. My second tier of loyalty is very close friends who sincerely share my general philosophical foundation of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Last is the USA and what once was the granduer of Western Civilization. The last one is on suicide watch. The second tier is not united. When TSHTF all that I can trust is family.
The West has been invaded by violent, demonic tribalism, aka islam, and weakened by internal saboteurs, aka what we once considered commie pinkos. Its an interesting, dangerous time. Stick with your ‘tribe’. Glad to be in flyover country away from metro areas.
This is very interesting and long read, its tells where ME going and how far hardliners going to do within the society that we believe were very friendly and open for western style in Turkey driving the country to a new Perspectives on Violence

I have long warned that the same forces advocating the elimination of the death penalty would, after succeeding, turn their fire on life sentences without parole. Europe is just a generation or two ahead of the US in this regard.
Fred,
That article fits in with the general impression I have of events in Turkey. Apparently the “white Turks, as the author describes them, lived in Istanbul and Ankara and were succcessful, but eventually many Anatolian “black Turks” started moving to the cities for economic reasons. They didn’t fit in and wanted to retain the tribal life of their villages. It seems to me like the difference between NYC and Cambridge,Mass and the deep South and the hills of West Virginia. We are rather fortunate that the US mixes things up a bit more than Turkey did. However, there are plenty of Pauline Kaels around, and unfortunately they have oo much control of the cultural things that used to bring the country together. Small town life in which different classes have to live together sure beat the gated communities of today.
expat,
May be your points valid, which also can be applied not just on Turks, to me, today most if not all ME countries looks going same path.
It dose not matter those “black Turks” which tribal they are and so on and so forth, sadly many people are western educated guys but when they return back to their land, they switched to their dark side nature.
I ask you how many Saudi Students graduated from US and institutes for the last ten years?
Dose they took back what learned in western society to their place and region?
In fact, I read many Saudi Students joining ISIS, leaving
their study in western universities and joining the Jihad!!
So Turks was one of the brightest area in ME that was very shine and open but looks no longer now.

“This is very interesting and long read…”
I also enjoyed the article by ELIF BATUMAN. The situation she finds herself in reminds me of a parable Jesus told. Turkey is undergoing the same transformation Jesus described.
“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order
Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”
Matthew 12:43-45
The atheistic secularists have replaced traditional culture with absolutely nothing. Their philosophy is empty.
Ms. Batuman mentioned the philosophy called positivism as the replacement for religion, but of course those who have studied philosophy know that positivism has been dead ever since Kurt Godel, one of the greatest logicians in history, proved that all except the most rudimentary logical systems are incomplete.
She also mentioned her abortion – an act which is immoral in traditional societies. She then describes how empty she felt. Substituting a career for the love of a family and children is not a happy trade off for most people. That is why wearing the scarf and imagining herself in a traditional society was so appealing for her.
The left has spent over a century demonizing and destroying traditional Christian society. Therefore, for many of them they find themselves stranded in an empty lifestyle with no where to go. That is why the left is turning to Islam. Freedom without love is not very satisfying. Christianity offers both freedom and love but the left wants no part of it. Judaism with its multitude of laws is also not an option for most of them. Islam on the other hand allows them to indulge their carnal nature which when directed against non-Muslims is unimpeded by any moral constraints and still provided them with a structure for an ordered social life among themselves among fellow Muslims. And so the demons of oppression and tyranny, when they return to the secularized society, finds the society swept and cleaned and empty just waiting for them to occupy.
Let bring you some examples with long court cases with criminals

The Mullah Krekar Show
Is this the man behind the Oslo terrorist bombing?
http://foreignpolicy.com/2011/07/22/the-mullah-krekar-show/?wp_login_redirect=0
Yes, that is right. Of course eventually it is revealed to the audience that nationalism is really a symptom of something else: the allowing of any exclusive communities of interest and hence, eventually, exclusionary social identity at all. These groups, largely, at least originally, were nothing more than the product of historically contingent accidents and material circumstances; which unfortunately allowed genetic drift to occur, and subsequently enabled the operations of assortative selection based on differentiated natural predilections, to unjustly triumph.
And of course the irrational persistence of those communities in the face of modernity is a symptom of something else again: the persistence of an enabling philosophical presumption that so-called “persons” should have the right to form voluntary associations on such unreflective, unjust, and irrational bases.
But of course that is not at the root of the problem ultimately, and is merely the manifestation of a yet deeper underlying problem: our presuming an associative predicate which recognizes “self-interest” and choice as a fundamentally respect-worthy principle.
And of course that is merely the fall out of the yet deeper problem: which is discovered in the egoistic sense of self and the “private”, and in the granting of the ego the social privilege of setting personal boundaries; a process wherein the social organism or species-being operating out of a false consciousness, imagines itself to be the locus of moral agency, and to enjoy some kind of existentially privileged individual position in relation to the ultimate, through the operation of a private conscience.
The solution, obviously, is that the private, and all its justifying predicates, including the private self, must conceptually, and eventually legally, (insofar as “Legal” will still have any meaning) be completely abolished.
Once this is all achieved then “we” – if “we” still has meaning – shall all live as one …
Was in Brussels two stops away from the train bomb when it hit. If I had gone to my train 15 mins earlier I would have been at that stop…..or if they had hit check-in at the airport at 8am Thursday instead of Tuesday I would have been there…Was interesting wandering the streets with all the mass transit refugees after they shut down the metro, and had a bit of adventure getting back to the US with BRU airport shut down until Sunday…
My personal take working in Belgium a lot is that they are in denial. The native Belgiums (both French and Flemmish) are amazingly intelligent and educated, kind, open, friendly, and hopelessly naive. They have long vacations, drink their beer (Flemmish) or wine (French) in the evening and don’t see the Muslim monsters taking down their Disney theme park country. They’ll die off slowly, never fighting back, and like so many Westerners they deserve the fate of a race who won’t fight for their survival.
in short they’re soft and refuse to see the danger. They’ll keep getting bombed and won’t do anything, will keep bringing in more Muslims until the invaders take over.
