Open thread: Obama’s Oval Office address — 59 Comments

  1. So I watched it with the sound off and closed captioning on.

We were told little. Nothing new that I could see. Certainly nothing about his private stratagem to install Iran with their ally Russia to bring order to the Middle East — not one word. To that extent, we have a continuation of the general lie promoted. Nothing about the US working with Shia militias in Iraq. Nothing about the Syrian Sunni hatred of America for abandoning them to their enemies Assad and the Iranian mullahs. Nothing about the Russian presence in Syria, save lies about attempting to persuade Russia to join the “fight” against ISIS, a complete joke. No mention of the perils under which Israel falls with these growing menaces on their northern and perhaps soon to be eastern borders, should Jordan fall under assault. Nothing about the growing strength of Hezbollah. Nothing about Israel as an ally.

We did get the gun ban for whatever the airplane list is, whether called “no fly” list or “terror watch list”, who knows. A non-starter in any case, a mere political distraction from all the missing subject matter spelled out above.

  2. “Such a great man,” eh neo-neocon, say the Huffers, a man who appropriately never speaks a word of truth.

  3. The full text of the speech is here. He surprisingly did talk more directly about Muslims and radical Islam than I think he ever has before:

We cannot turn against one another by letting this fight be defined as a war between America and Islam. That, too, is what groups like ISIL want. ISIL does not speak for Islam. They are thugs and killers. Part of a cult of death. And they account for a tiny fraction of a more than a billion Muslims around the world, including millions of patriotic Muslim-Americans who reject their hateful ideology.

Moreover, the vast majority of terrorist victims around the world are Muslim. If we’re to succeed in defeating terrorism, we must enlist Muslim communities as some of our strongest allies rather than push them away through suspicion and hate.

That does not mean denying the fact that an extremist ideology has spread within some Muslim communities. It’s a real problem that Muslims must confront without excuse.

Muslim leaders here and around the globe have to continue working with us to decisively and unequivocally reject the hateful ideology that groups like ISIL and Al Qaeda promote. To speak out against not just acts of violence, but also those interpretations of Islam that are incompatible with the values of religious tolerance, mutual respect, and human dignity.

  4. “It’s a real problem that Muslims must confront without excuse.”

So do we see him supporting Egyptian President Al-Sisi with every tool in the box, to say nothing of the rhetorical tools possible to put to work against the Islamists, whether in Egypt or Iran? No. He’d sooner let the man starve, since at the worst Al-Sisi maintains neighborly relations with filthy Israel by pressuring Gaza and working together with the Israelis to get a handle on the ISIS presence in the Sinai. What a joke Obama is. What morons he take us for.

  5. Empty suit empty words. No action. And the left defaults to their primary obsession/delusion: How much better THEY are than everyone else.

  6. Ann:

No, that’s not different. If I spent hours on it, I could probably find nearly every thought he expressed in that quote in previous speeches. But just after a minute or two of looking, I found this from February 2015, for example:

Obama also said military force alone will not defeat terrorism, and the nation must work with local communities to reduce the influence of those who advocate violent extremism.

“They are not religious leaders,” Obama said. “They are terrorists.”

He also said: “We are not at war with Islam – we are at war with people who have perverted Islam.”

…Groups like the Islamic State and al-Qaeda “try to portray themselves as religious leaders, holy warriors in defense of Islam,” Obama said, but “we must never accept the premise that they put forward, because it is a lie.”

Obama also said Muslim communities have responsibilities to confront the abuse of religion.

“Of course, the terrorists do not speak for a billion Muslims who reject their ideology,” Obama said.

I see no particular difference in his rhetoric then and now.

Looking at the transcript of his speech this evening, I see he even used a similar phrase: “a perverted interpretation of Islam that calls for war against America and the West.” Tonight he said, “we are at war with people who have perverted Islam.”

  7. Dear Huff Po readers,

The killers don’t separate out the stupid or Democrats.

They kill us equally as fast. They might give you a chance to recite the Koran.

    Let’s trade!

Since we’ve already accepted the carbon taxes and higher energy prices, you can accept that we have guns so we can save your asses.

  8. No mention that the Russians have been systematically bombing hospitals, open air food markets, and large bakeries for weeks, and now water treatment plants in Syria where these most affect Sunni Syrians in revolt against Assad and his Iranian controllers. These bombings are not aimed at ISIS, and frequently massacre women and children, but then Obama never spoke meaningfully of Neda Agha-Soltan either, so this too is nothing new.

  9. If the Soviets had missiles in Cuba — President 0Bomba would not ‘over-react’ until DC was glowing.

Between his Freudian slip-ups … there have been so many … it must apparent that he is a Muslim on jihad … and taqiya is his ‘game.’

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZM9I1AGtgU0

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCAffMSWSzY

    Occam would agree.

If true, everything seen falls into place, and the President does not look so obtuse — the Press does.

  10. Great observations as always Neo, but I would object to your use of ‘upset’. People are justifiably, rationally passed.
‘Upset’ people are emotional/irrational, so they don’t need to convinced, rebutted or refuted — they only need to be handled.

  11. So, I take it that the President gave no indication of shifting to greater substantive ‘strong horse’ leadership action?

  12. Nrwscaper:

Actually, “upset” is a neutral word in terms of rationality. There is no implication that an upset person is irrational. It is also a generic word that just means “worried, unhappy, or angry.”

  13. Neo, this caught my attention:

For seven years, Obama said, “I’ve confronted this evolving threat each and every morning in my intelligence briefing, and since the day I took this office, I have authorized U.S. forces to take out terrorists abroad precisely because I know how real the danger is…”

Wasn’t it recently reported that President Obama has missed over a third of his intelligence briefings? So this is a basic, bald-faced lie, even if we’re willing to accept that he “confronts” this evolving threat by listening to an intelligence briefing. Ditto for his comment that “since the day I took this office, I have authorized U.S. forces to take out the terrorists abroad”… how many times have the generals asked him for more troops, more weapons, more power, and he’s dithered? How long did he dither before ordering the raid that took out Osama?

The man brags about that which he has never done. I wonder if he’ll ever begin a speech by saying “ever since I won my first Olympic medal”…

And then there was this. “What could possibly be the argument for allowing a terrorist suspect to buy a semiautomatic weapon? This is a matter of national security.”

Because, Mr. President, just about anybody can be one of your “terrorist suspects”… and once on that list, it’s next to impossible to get off! Your use of the phrase “semiautomatic weapon” similarly demonstrates either that you have no idea what you’re talking about, or that you do and just don’t care, or that you do and are trying to strike fear into the hearts of people who don’t understand guns.

(For the record: the vast, vast majority of rifles and handguns are semi-automatic. That doesn’t mean “almost automatic” or “sort of automatic”; it means that you don’t need to load the next bullet by hand. It means that one trigger pull gets you one shot. Virtually every cop you’ll ever meet carries a semi-automatic handgun; check and see.)

Why should a terrorist suspect be allowed to buy a weapon? Because we’re innocent until proven guilty, that’s why.

Barry sees himself as the ultimate puppet master — and his intent is more egocentric than ‘deep.’

    He sees himself manipulating everybody.

That is, he’s a frenemy with all parties.

He is actually ( and incredibly ) supporting all Muslim factions.

He’s supporting ISIS and al Nusrah via his Erdogan operation, with Qatar and Saudi Arabia backstopping that play.

He’s supporting the mullahs, and the rest of the Shia-Alawite-Russian axis.

He’s NOT supporting America, Israel or the West.

He needs this martial theater as a predicate for every manner of domestic manipulations.

The foremost being his assault upon the US Constitution — 1st, 2nd and 4th Amendments — in reverse order of priorities.

A massive digital mining operation is obviously under way… scoping out his domestic enemies…

It’s the Chicago Way — brought to the Potomac.

  15. “He didn’t overreact fearfully like the stupid troglodyte Republicans would have.”

You know, that’s not how FDR meant it.

    http://historymatters.gmu.edu/d/5057/

So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself–nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory.

Leftists subvert meaning. Contra FDR, their admonishment of fear converts advance into retreat.

There are fair criticisms of FDR’s policies and practices, but he was a Roosevelt in his attitude about his executive duties.

  16. “President Obama is a wartime president who doesn’t seem to realize it.” – Tom Cotton

  17. So, I take it that the President gave no indication of shifting to greater substantive ‘strong horse’ leadership action?

It’s worse than no indication: he says nothing about the actual stratagems he employs on his own behalf — hardly on our behalf of course, since we are the targets he intends to punish! He refuses to come clean. He intends to keep Americans in the dark. But that makes a kind of sense, for if Americans knew what he had been up to, they’d likely do away with him instanter.

  18. mezzrow,

That’s because President Bush was a normal wartime president and a principle of President Obama’s approach is upholding the premise, by commission and omission, that the Bush approach was wrong.

So if Bush was a normal wartime president and Obama orients on the premise that Bush was wrong, that makes Obama’s approach to a wartime situation abnormal.

To be a normal wartime president, Obama would have to adopt the premise that the Bush approach was correct.

  19. Guess I’ve heard ‘You’re upset…’ too many times, directed to me or others, in a way that is dismissive.

  20. Daniel in Brookline:

    Here you go–

When Obama says, “I’ve confronted this evolving threat each and every morning in my intelligence briefing…” although he often doesn’t attend his intelligence briefings, he actually means, “I’ve confronted it by having to decide whether or not to pay attention to or even attend my intelligence briefings.”

When Obama says, “and since the day I took this office, I have authorized U.S. forces to take out terrorists abroad precisely because I know how real the danger is…” he is referring to the drone program.

The statement about the terrorist being allowed to buy a semi-automatic weapon is sheer propaganda garbage. “Semi-automatic weapon” is just a phrase liberals like; he’s throwing it out there for them, and he would actually like to ban all weapons so the details don’t matter to him. And of course, if we knew a certain person was a terrorist, he/she wouldn’t be buying weapons, he/she would be in prison. The point is that banning such weapons for everyone, or everyone on a no-fly list that lacks any sort of due process and that is basically capricious, is a denial of 2nd Amendment rights that wouldn’t prevent terrorism. Actual bona fide terrorists can always and will always get weapons or make weapons. The problem is not the law-abiding citizen buying weapons or not.

  21. ” . . . …” he is referring to the drone program.”

Which, as it happens kills boatloads of innocents in addition to targeted jihadis. But of this he’ll not speak save to have said that he’s good at killing people. Pres. Bush on the other hand hardly used the program precisely because he didn’t like killing innocents.

  22. Neo,

Good point in your 2006 post.

When the issue is a Left cause, eg, campus ‘rape culture’, then fear is of the utmost priority to redress, to the degree that fiction is compulsory and the truth is no defense.

But when the issue contradicts a Left cause, then they switch rhetorically to a different meaning of fear.

FDR’s approach to fear should be cited more often to counter leftist rhetoric.

  23. The only surprise was that he rattled off the Ft. Hood and Chattanooga recruiting center shootings as terrorism – has he ever publicly admitted this before? I bet the survivors and members of the deceased were startled, too, since they have been (TX)/still are (TN) being jerked around by the military in officially classifying the attacks as such.

Even still, he left off the Boston Marathon attack and the attempt to kill Pam Gellar, the latter attack which has already been tied to ISIS (and shares a terrorist contact link w/Farook Saeed).
    * * * *
Re: “Wasn’t it recently reported that President Obama has missed over a third of his intelligence briefings?”

Worse, he’s averaged ~40% attendance. One of his favorite methods for indicating an issue’s importance is stating that “it’s the first thing on his mind when he gets up in the morning.” So I figured that his “I confront this every morning” was just another derivation of this empty rhetoric.

  24. Neo:

When Obama says, “I’ve confronted this evolving threat each and every morning in my intelligence briefing…” although he often doesn’t attend his intelligence briefings, he actually means, “I’ve confronted it by having to decide whether or not to pay attention to or even attend my intelligence briefings.”

I like your interpretation. But that suggests that Mr. Obama views his daily intelligence briefings themselves as an “evolving threat”. (A threat to his worldview? To his nap? To his golf game?)

  25. Did he say a word about Iran? About the “deal”?
    The man is practicing taqiyya.
He is Muslim or a Muslim sympathizer.
He’s playing at taking out a few Sunnis is all.
His use of ISIL (L=Levant) is a signal to Muslims everywhere of the extent of their former holdings.
He’s still letting them in along with all the other rabble pouring over the borders.

  26. Read the transcipt of dear leader’s address… lying once again about his motives. It was a thoroughly CYA speech for the msm to gush over. Only the kool-aid drinkers sip from that cup of poison.

  27. A slightly different topic: It seems to me that Obama has called more last minute television addresses than all the previous presidents in my lifetime put together, and furthermore, I can’t think of one whose topic was actually an urgent/emergency situation.

[unseriously] Has he no empathy for poor DVR users who just want their shows to be recorded in full?

  28. I appreciate his candor in describing how he plans to continue to lose the war against global Islamic jihad.

  29. Ann is correct that Obama appears to have admitted for the first time that ISIS is connected to Islam in some peripheral way. On the surface that appears to be progress but it is only a ruse. Obama realizes that the rubes have caught on to his previous lies that there no connection between terrorism and Islam so he admitted the obvious before he returned to the lie that terrorism has nothing to do with real Islam, that Muslims are good neighbors who are just as opposed to terrorism as the rest of us and that Muslims are willing and able to clean up their own religion.

His prescription for the danger that Muslims pose for the rest of us is that to combat jihad we need more Muslims in our country and that we must endure the murders and mayhem while we wait passively for the magic day when Islam becomes the religion of peace we have been promised. According to Obama American infidels must over come their fears, must disarm, and and must remain helpless as Muslims integrate their cadres into the warp and woof of our community. While we wait for the religion of peace to establish itself as the dominant religion in our land we must sacrifice our life and our liberty and we must depend on the goodness and the mercy of our new Muslim neighbors. Despite the fact that Muslims around the World are targeting and killing non-Muslims, we can’t have a religious test concerning whom we admit into our country as refugees. We must ignore the fact that it is Christians and Yazidis and Jews who are the special targets of violence in the Middle East and instead we must preferentially admit Muslims from those areas.

By focusing on terror Obama and the left work hand in glove with the dawah masters and the terrorists who are working together to distract us from the greater jihad through terrorism. As a relief from terrorism they present the mirage of a moderate Islam which is compatible with religious liberty and freedom. The dawah masters main objection to ISIS, besides the fact that ISIS often kills other Muslims, is that ISIS might alert their infidel victims to the danger before the greater stealth jihad is ready to spring the trap. The greater stealth jihad is more dangerous for infidels than terrorism because it is done in stealth.

Here’s a better idea. Lets keep Muslims out of our country until Muslims have cleaned up their act. Also, lets have an honest conversation about what is in the Muslim’s holy books and stop pretending that Islam can be reformed from within. What we can do if we really want a more moderate Islam is to support Muslims who have not lost contact with their humanity like al-Sisi and his moderate Egyptians, the moderate Kurds, and the king of Jordan who are still far too radical to live among us in our society successfully but who are moderates compared to Islamists and who are not foaming at the mouth crazy.

    %%%

The “boatloads of innocents” always includes the primary target’s immediate entourage — and jihadi first responders.

Should a significant jihadi ever get droned, the fanatics shoo away ALL civilians and establish a defense perimeter… for security reasons.

This has been observed countless times via drone videos.

Commonly, the primary’s pals are then re-Hellfired so as to join him in the afterlife.

THESE are the innocent civilians that bloat up the numbers.

    &&&

Yes, there certainly ARE flat out errors.

But, the reality is that the CIA// DoD shoot most of their Hellfire missiles into “Deadwood” // aka Dodge City. … It’s jihadi central. That little burg doesn’t ALLOW non-jihadis into its HQ.

    ( Datta Khel )

That tiny burg must be a contractor’s paradise — and that of the mortician, too. For both burials and reconstruction never stop thereabouts.

Other targets would seem to preclude innocents:

Leadership convoys in the middle of the Somali badlands…
    The Yemini sandbox…

None of the local herdsmen have a shot at purchasing an SUV.

Such travellers do shed a lot of anonymity. Heh.

  31. I made a successful effort to NOT watch the speech last night. This morning I read a comment on another site that made me watch a portion of the speech with the sound turned off. Try it, and pay attention to the following:

    1) Why standing at a podium in the Oval Office?

    2) Note that he NEVER really looks into the camera, but seems focused on a distant spot over the viewer’s right shoulder.

    3) The obvious narrowed and seemingly bloodshot eyes.

Now I am admittedly that worst person to decode body language and such nuances. But when such things present themselves to someone as clueless as myself, I have to wonder if something is going on here. IS VJ pumping him up with drugs to keep him going? Has he rejoined his choom gang? All very creepy.

  32. We have the president the minorities and feminists wanted (not enoug numbers outside that even if 100% against to matter).

    So whats the beef?

you cant complain about what those people chose and who they serve, so complain about who they pick?

go to mancoat, you can clearly see that the men of this society have mostly given up… there is nothing to fight for, nothing to work for, nothing to accomplish the protected classes of women and minorities cant take away once you earn it, then get spit on for doing so and not letting one of them have whatever it is.

so… those groups ultimately get what they want, deserve, and voted for.

    so whats the beef?
the women and such did not want freedom, a future for their kids, the state out of their lives, low taxes, ability to start businesses, and more.

so why are we even bothering arguing about it like a enclave of jews in germany with no pull and no hope unless some outside force joins in. and thatwont happen since the outside force is the victim of PC feminsms war on their own people at the behest of communism.

for the most part, its not my problem
i am evil, my family extermianted, no raises, and no ability to start a business or have a home.

why would i fight to preserve the state that did that to me and is happy to impor more that would kill me and dance around?

preserve what? fighnting to preserve the society of protected classes that blame me and others like me for all the ills would be akin to jews getting to gether to fight to save the nazi order.

    i am just a spectator…

it doesnt matter which way it actually goes, either way its going to suck and be hurtful to the scapegoats… no?

  33. Physics guy:

I read elsewhere that he opted to speak from the Oval Office because other venues in the White House have Christmas decorations hung. Speaking about Islamist terrorists in front of green wreaths and holly might not give the right tone.

And as for having his focus elsewhere than the camera, he is reading words from the teleprompter. This is not the kind of teleprompter you see at podium speeches; it is a slanted screen right over the camera lens. That way he is +almost+ looking directly into the lens.

  34. sorry it was so long, but the point is that if the young men wont oppose what is going on and have given up, then all your other discussions are a waste of time..

you have to motivate them to action to get anywhere… just as they let the immigrants in to make up for the babies women exterminated and the collapsing demographic of feminists…

they are now moving the women into the mens roles in the military to make up for the men who dont want to join, are (purposefully) unfit to serve and of which the miltiary is scraping the barrel.

WAKE UP people… your posterity has abandoned you and withtout that, you are nothing but a bunch of chatter boxes waiting to die.. (which eugenics, and the ACA will hasten along)

But there is a point at which the fisherman’s choice does become irrational, and it is probably this realization that has been alarming many people like Ms. Hymowitz. What makes good sense on a personal level can make less sense on a societal level. Civilization depends on the tendency of men to produce more than they consume for themselves–it depends on that masculine ambition. In the parable, the fisherman feeds himself. Following the businessman’s ambition, however, could mean feeding himself & his workers, along with any family they might have. His ambition could be a huge boon to society.

Take that away, and you have a bunch of men doing what they need to do to stay comfortable, but nothing more–nothing for any women or any increasingly hypothetical children.

our elites have sought to structure the family around child support instead of marriage. The mother has custody of the children, but she receives much of the necessary resources from elsewhere. This could be from her husband, but it could just as easily be from her ex-husband, her boyfriend, or the taxpayer. Where it comes from doesn’t matter so long as the child has resources and the woman is freed from any moral or social obligation towards these men.

While it may not matter whether the resources come from a husband, ex-husband, boyfriend, or taxpayer, the system does hinge on there being husbands, ex-husbands, boyfriends, and taxpayers who are producing more than they consume for themselves. Men have done this so far because that’s what’s been expected of them, but more and more are realizing that they have no incentive to do so.

please give me a clue what your gong to do about the huge number of men that are bowing out of everything from family, to finance… from education, to whatever… without them, you have no one voting against liberalism… withotu them, you have no one to fight for society, and without them, you have no people who outearn their own needs for others to take from them

  35. Im hoping neo wont delete or cut my posts down, i waited till everyone else posted more than 40 posts before i said anything, realizing that a new thread will be started and most of what i put up wont be read. nice… eh?

  36. Art,
Your dilemma is completely understandable. Fortunately all women are not radical feminists and all men have not given up.
The left has completely destroyed the country I grew up in, and I miss it dearly, but even amid the ruins our country is still better than most and there is still much remaining to celebrate.

  37. Art, what does anything you just posted have to do with Obama’s speech??

    Really?

it has to do with everyone saying this has to happen that has to happen, and who will do it..

who the heck are you all talking to? the AARP class should rise up?

Dennis is right as to not all women are feminist, but its not relavent as the ones who are not are not fighting for anything much… nor are they willing to stand up and oppose feminism any more than blacks who are not racialists have done a thing to prevent racialism

Who was obama talking to physicsguy ?

not me? is he talking to you? or is he talking to th army of protected classes who each hope to be paid by the state for their support?

think of it physicsguy… WHO will act?

the young men you rely on are who you are hoping will act… the racialists will not act for you, they have little meaningful opposition.. the feminists will not act, and they have ZERO meaningful opposition.

they get tons of financial help for college, tons of help getting the jobs even if they are not qualified, free day care, free birth control, courts side with them to take everyting the guy has AND his future assets. they have teamed up with the racialists and you dont hear women complaining about the hordes coming over the border that would make mutilating their daughters genitals normal… they are FOR the invasion, the burka, and more..

Obama is talking to HIS army of the left
    YOUR army has given up…

Everything Bad, It Seems, Is My Fault
    By Taylor Lewis
    http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/12/everything_bad_it_seems_is_my_fault.html

    I’ve been feeling down lately.

You see, I’m a white heterosexual American Christian. That means I’m the worst thing to ever draw breath on the planet. By virtue of existing, my kind if responsible for all the injustice in the world.

so who are you old people talking to? your posterity? look at what has happened when someone tried to make a group to stand up for the evil white guys. they are under investigation, and is now thought of as white supremicists.
    [edited for length by n-n]

  38. It’s all very disheartening. Social scientists are puzzled as to why middle-aged white working-class males are killing themselves at an alarming rate. A recent study by two Princeton economists found that the death rate among middle-aged white Americans is rising while other racial groups are falling. The New York Times described it “startling” news. Samuel Preston, a professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, was wowed by the statistic and called it “a vivid indication that something is awry in these American households.”

Well no sh*t, Sherlock. Something is definitely wrong when an entire race is fatally numbing itself. These eggheads, who are likely middle-aged whites themselves, can’t grasp the cause behind the slow suicide of white America.

There are a number of plausible explanations for the deathly trend, but one of the root causes is being ignored: the constant, unrelenting call for whites to repent for all of history’s sins.

  39. ” … we have guns so we can save your asses.”

You and I may have the capacity, but to do so would be wrong and an example of typical conservative stupidity: the persistent and fear driven belief against all evidence that we all are fundamentally alike and share the same values, and that liberals essentially believe the same things at heart that conservatives and libertarians do.

    They don’t.

  40. The Leftist alliance for human utopia and perfect obedience, would rather have 4 to your 0, than to have 8 to your 10. Meaning, if you are higher than them, they will pull you down so you become equal, meaning inferior, even if they have to take a downcheck in their own status. When they have 4 over your 0, that means they are 4 ranks above you. Whereas having 8 to your 10, means they are 2 ranks below you, even if the lifting economic tide raises all boats.

They ain’t going to “allow your boat to rise” above theirs.

  41. phsyics guy, your army of supporters is committing suicide at a huge rate and growing… they are disenfranchised from college and that area of opinion…. they are negated and fired from work, so that dont help them either… and trump who might help them, is attaced from his own side for not siding with the left… and then there is the young men who are too fat, too much on drugs, and too much disenfranchised from school, business, dad, and more.

so who are YOU talking to, as i know who obama is talking to, and its not me, and its not you, and our numbers are over.

the posterity is what counts, and most of that is from broken homes and single parents…

every single mother who succeeds shows her sons that they are not needed at all…

every single mother who is unsuccessful, shows her sons that they can be destroyed by someone who they love in favor of what?

the opposition needs a reason to oppose
    they have lost their reasons
and obama is not even trying to appeal to them

he is appealing to the next group to have babies and dominate the electorate.. and your army has been murdered in the womb, and negated by the lefts social programs.

you cant even speak to them let alone motivate them… they have absolutely no reason to be motivated, the country you love and remember is gone to them, thye have no standing, they are attacked without support from elderly white guys who sit around and chat and do nothing real to help them…

abandoned people who have no support are who your army of opposition is, and they have given up. and every measure shows it from marraige, to births, to suicide, to enlistments… to teachers discussing in groups how to hurt them to make them mentally crippled to favor the girls they are teaching!!!!

not only that, but we dont really discuss that at all and pretend that 60 years of that means nothing.

why bother to discuss it at all?

what does it matter what Obama speech says to people who dont exist politically and whnose opinions and wants are evil incarnate to the young people who will replace you in less than 20 years..

  42. The good things I can say about Obama’s speech: he did not come across as his usual whiney, annoyed self. He mentioned how Muslims themselves need to start stepping up.

    That was about it.

I was very disappointed there were no specifics. There was nothing of substance to leave me feeling, “oh, good, they are going to get right on this.”

If you are asking the Muslim communities to step up and say something, what is the plan for that? Are you going to start up a new outreach program? Are you going to engage with imams at all mosques across the country and give them warning signs to look for, a contact person to talk to, etc.? Will you begin keeping an eye on the mosques the FBI probably already knows are ‘radical’ and have harbored terrorists in the past? Will you provide some kind of incentives for Muslims in America to rat out friends and family members? Will you begin a strategy of infiltrating the Muslim community, much like the FBI has done with white supremacist groups and the mob?

Nothing specific about what is going to happen with friends/family of Farook…are they going to round them up and question them? are they going to consider pulling any visas or green cards if any of these people supported the efforts of the deadly couple? will they directly threaten ANY action for involvement or encouragement in terrorist activities in the U.S.?

The whole speech left me feeling the same way I felt before he spoke: we are screwed until he gets out of office.

Bill Whittle provides an outstanding schema for what divides humanity.

It’s a 90 minute exposition — but you can jump forward until you get to the meat.

The power of his logic is extremely compelling.

I recommend it for anyone that has to rub shoulders with those intoxicated by the Press Narrative.

Whittle’s thinking jumps past logic and philosophy to gut impulses that may very well spring from the brain stem.

Scott Adams has a similar target — with his “moist robot theory.”

The latter might as well be described as “Uncritical Theory.”

“My personal world-view is what I call the Moist Robot idea. Under this way of thinking, we’re all just particles bumping around according to the laws of physics.

What we think is our sense of reason is really nothing but rationalization after the fact, at least for the big decisions.

Under this world-view, both the puppet and the puppet-master are puppets of physics.

No one has any real power in this view.”

I go with: “The unexamined life is robotic.”

  44. Dennis gets it.
    Thank you, Dennis.
One must reconcile one’s self to the fact that Islam cannot be reformed. “Kill the Christian, kill the Jew” are the words of Allah, a command to all who believe.
There can be no place for Islam in America if America is to survive.
All the babble about ISIS ignores the elephant in the room: Iran.

  45. Observations:
    1) The straw men were harder to identify than usual, they were there, they are to integral to Obama’s “thought processes” but they were not predominate. The reason they were harder to identify must be that listening to Obama is so traumatic that I tuned him out.
    2) The 65 nation coalition must include mole men from Alpha Centauri because those entities are invisible just like the rest of the anti-ISIS coalition. (I like delusions, do you like delusions, I think delusions are fun).
    3) You are a racist and I, the good shepherd Obama, was placed on earth to stop you.
    4) The NRA is trying to kill g-d. I, the good shepherd Obama, was placed on earth to stop them.
    5) And most important of all; Isis is one of the BEST THINGS to happen during Obama’s term of office. If it were not for ISIS Iran would own everything between Afghanistan and Beirut. They would be maneuvering an army on the Golan and the Saudi border by now as well as developing air sea capacities. ISIS is buying time the world time until Obama is out of office.
ISIS is doing more for the world’s security, and America’s, than Obama is.

  46. “Since we’ve already accepted the carbon taxes and higher energy prices, you can accept that we have guns so we can save your asses.”

Am I the only one who has grudgingly reached a point in which I think, should I be called upon to render aid, that I may ask, “Did you vote for Obama in 2012? Oh, you did? Then, you may kindly rot in hell.”

    No, you are certainly not.

I am taking, or rather have taken, the pledge. Let they themselves reap insofar as possible, what they determinedly, insistently, and wittingly sow.

The trouble, again, is that most conservatives cannot face the prospect that the materialist moral nihilists of the left actually do believe and then proceed to construct their lives on the principles they claim to believe in: strict materialism, values relativism and conventionalism, anti-essentialism, nominalism, the principle that an act is its own justification, and politically managed population management and directed “evolution”.

Darwinism with a socialist face, in other words.

That fear of looking too close, and really grasping what the “other” is saying, and then recognizing that the other is other, is why you can never pull the chair out from under the average – especially establishment – conservative one too many times.
