More on Europe’s determination to commit cultural suicide — 36 Comments

  1. “Our social charity is the product of our spiritual penury, and the political calculus of our leaders in its demographic, electoral or empathetic forms is the result of intellectual debauchery”

Had the crux of the problem ever been put better than that?

The likes of the villainous traitorous leaders of the EU and the US, foremost among them Merkel, Cameron, Hollande (Obama is a pathology all his own, and none can trump Sweden’s bizarre, radical, fanatical will for self-destruction – it can be nothing less than dementia of the elite) are all prisoners of the moment, momentum and their own monumental hubris. They have stickied themselves up with a tar baby, cannot let it go, and will insist they cuddle the thing of their own free will, desire, and indestructible virtue.

They would not, they could not, admit to the phenomenon of the ‘unseen’*. The unseen consequences of the future will, in their turn, become the moment and momentum, and will be subject to yet more hubris”
“yes we can” — Barack* Obama
“we can do it” — Angela Merkel
“That, we can do!” — GDR slogan for their ‘5’ year plans.
    — the triumph of the will.

What speaks more of the collapse of democracy and the decadence of the West than that such a group of demolishers should convene at one time and place and be given absolute power? Spiritual penury indeed. More like fear and loathing of the spiritual.

    * The phenomenon of the unseen:
“. . . a law produces not only one effect, but a series of effects. Of these effects, the first alone is immediate; it appears simultaneously with its cause; it is seen. The other effects emerge only subsequently; they are not seen.”
    – French economist Frédéric Bastiat

  2. It has often been noted that liberals can ideed defend their own side against conservatives, but curiously cannot defend the West against its critics. My take on this is that they are concerned only with their immediate competitors for resources, their political opposites in their own countries. It does not dawn on them that there are other competitors who would be happy to swallow us all. They don’t really believe that.

How can intelligent people be so short-sighted? I think narcissism is the primary culprit. There is a concept in psychology of “narcissistic injury.” Self-esteem that is too inflated is vulnerable to any slight. The practical consequence of this is that the everyday people in the narcissist’s life – family, co-workers, neighbors – cannot help but reinjure them repeatedly. They become the only enemy that matters. Narcissists can indeed become devoted to causes, but these involve people at a distance, because real contact is painful. (Cf. Charles Schultz’s Linus: ,i.I love mankind, it’s people I can’t stand. It’s actually quite true.)

  3. I take little comfort in reporting the Muzzie trash along the roadside in one of the photos reminds me of exactly the same appearance of the desert in Arizona 15 years ago. Mexican plastic waste everywhere: backpacks, empty gallon jugs, zip-loc bags, even clothes. I came across a human skeleton, the ultimate in debris, maybe one year dead. Shoes were still at the ankles, but foot bones were gone…feet are portable edibles to coyotes of the four-legged type.

A grotesque irony is that Merkel is the head of the Christian Democratic Union party. Christian. Like many Germans, she claims nominal Lutheranism. The churches are everywhere empty, however.
Let us not overlook the fact that Merkel is the German equivalent of Jimmy Carter. She has a doctorate in physical chemistry and 20 years ago was the german Minister for the Environment and Nuclear Safety, and has worked hard to get rid of German nuclear power plants, in favor of windmills.

  4. Someone quipped that the liberal is a neocon who has been mugged by reality and refused to press charges.

  5. Watching the TV show Person of Interest I perceived an attractive woman who was preternaturally graceful and had a killer set of gams.

I entered the temple of the Great God Google and prayed Oh, please, Master, reveal the identity of this woman to me and was told she was a ballet dancer until she came down on an ankle bone the wrong way.

Do all you former dancers have the ol’ je ne sais quois?

  6. they convinced the ladies to cut americas wrists
and the EU convinced europe to slit its own throat

    too funny..
even funnier if you go back in time and read

The term “politically correct” originated in the Russian Communist Party in the 1920’s

“Feminism, Socialism, and Communism are one in the same, and Socialist/Communist government is the goal of feminism” – Toward a Feminist Theory of the State,
Catharine A. MacKinnon, 1989, First Harvard University Press Page 10

    Marxism and Feminism are one

The unhappy marriage of Marxism and Feminism.

“Rape is an expression of … male supremacy … the age-old economic, political and cultural exploitation of women by men.” American Communist Party pamphlet from 1948 entitled “Woman Against Myth”by Mary Inman

“ideas, activists and traditions that emanated from the Communist movement of the forties and fifties continued to shape the direction of the new women’s movement of the 1960s and later.” Red Feminism: American Communism and the Making of Women’s Liberation – feminist historian Kate Weigand

  7. I’m telling y’all, you need to read Burnham’s Suicide of the West. Fifty years old now, and although some of it is dated, the stuff about liberal guilt is still absolutely right on.

  8. “The mayhem they will visit upon the West – which German Chancellor Angela Merkel ludicrously deems an “opportunity” based on “the principles of dignity, human rights and the right to political asylum” – will be nothing short of cataclysmic.” David Solway

And in reaction to the coming cataclysim, will Merkel and others of her ilk reap the whirlwind?

  9. On the reaping of the whirlwind, think world world II.
Womyn really got it then, at a very animal level.
    Forgotten that… somehow.

That’s why I usually listen to shrill contemporary chicks with a faint smile…
    Islam is in their future.

  10. The end result of this suicidal madness will be blood flowing in the gutters of Berlin, Stockholm, Paris; and blood fertilizing the suburban lawns of Westchester County and the Boston commons. Fools have to engage in folly. They will never smell reality even as their throats are sliced by the warriors of islam and their daughters are gang raped by MS13.

  11. I have read mutterings that Benedict ( a conservative akin to JPII ) was *forced out* by a faction that was so concerned that the Church was losing it’s relevancy to the hip, the cool, the what ‘s happenin now crowd, you know the Obama philies those with a healthy dose of capitalist oppressor loathing thrown in.
Voila we have Francis ! Of course abortion on demand, moral relevancy, atheism & gay admiration are just as important to that crowd.

  12. They hate you, not themselves. That’s a notable difference. It’s what is centered on the idea that there is a fifth column in the West, and it was never exterminated or even identified in the 20th century.

  13. People often forget the role SPD plays in Merkel’s Grand Coalition, especially how many Stasi leftovers are in the SPD.

  14. AVI…”the everyday people in the narcissist’s life — family, co-workers, neighbors — cannot help but reinjure them repeatedly. They become the only enemy that matters. Narcissists can indeed become devoted to causes, but these involve people at a distance, because real contact is painful”

    A very useful insight.

  15. Flooding Europe is Muslim migrants is Turkish policy, it seems. (More in a moment.)

Neo quotes Solway: “The mayhem [the migrants] will visit upon the West – which German Chancellor Angela Merkel ludicrously deems an ‘opportunity’ based on ‘the principles of dignity, human rights and the right to political asylum’ – will be nothing short of cataclysmic.”

Human rights equals ‘Human dignity?’ I saw an interview last week on German television (Deutsche Welle) with Green Party leader, Claudia Roth (also a VP in the Bundestag, Germany’s parliament), using this odd (to us) locution. Roth said that all people deserved human dignity, and that it was impossible for Germany to say ‘1,000 refugees’ but no more, no 1001th! Thus, the open borders policy is the only moral one, with 60 millions today displaced by war and hardship today.

Apparently, this is how Germans couch “equality” or equal opportunity that, today, in America and the Anglophone world, we are obsessed with.

Another odd term I came across is the new German slang, “Merkeln,” as a verb to mean “inaction” or “indecision.” (Which resulted in articles at Newsweek and the Guardian last August https://twitter.com/GabeSehr/status/628307862968770565) And thus, a window into how Chancellor Merkel is perceived to be by German youth.

Instapundit LINKS to a story which says evidence is mounting that the invasion is a deliberate policy move by Turkey’s Erdogan.

“[E]vidence is now mounting that the upsurge in the migratory wave was the result of deliberate efforts by Erdogan to facilitate and push the flow of migrants in order to blackmail and punish the EU into supporting him.”

    http://www.worldtribune.com/yes-the-outcome-of-turkeys-election-and-the-flood-of-migrants-into-europe-are-connected/

This does not surprise me, whether from deviousness, blackmail, or security ransom.

Last month (or in September), I was struck by the very dangerous pluck of a US investigative reporter interviewed a few on Sean Hannity (his radio show): he was trying to join the migration to Europe from a refugee camp in Southwest Turkey and make the hazardous crossing by sea to Greece.

To do so, he had sought advice from customs police (take condoms: ballooned up, they make useful flotation devices in case your life-vest is stolen from you). Useful survival advice.

The other, most arresting detail was his experience attempting to hire a trafficker to complete his transit ($2000? $1500 – I forget the exact sum expected): a rough Turk who conducted his interview with a pistol aimed at his (the reporter’s) head by a confederate.

He objected to the gun at his head. The trafficker told was coldly comforting: “If you ignore the gun, the gun will ignore you.” His initial gambit failed because he apparently flunked the inquisition about who he was, where he was going, etc (to filter out security risks, no doubt).

I imagine that it is hugely difficult for an American accented reporter to pass as Syrian. A Kurd or Afghani, maybe – with the benefit method-acting, perhaps. (Not that the radio interview made it certain that he tried to go undercover – it didn’t.)

I have yet to hear a followup report. I’d be interested to hear this investigative reporter’s comments on this story, LINKED above.

UPDATE: I attempted to check my source and see if there is an update somewhere on the unnamed investigative reporter. The best I am able to determine, his name is probably one Nick Fagge, from his sole story at the Daily Mail, highlighting how easy phony Syrian passports are for migrants to get:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3235320/PASSPORT-TERROR-MailOnline-reporter-buys-Syrian-papers-sold-ISIS-fighters-sneaking-Europe-hidden-refugees.html

Which spawned several more stories from other outlets in mid-September, but none since. (There are at least two similarly named “Nick Fagge” reporters either working in the UK or Africa recently, and/or for the Daily Mail in the past decade. But I’m unable to disambiguate them.)

  16. They hate you, not themselves. That’s a notable difference.

I one Ymarsakar replys he mentioned that the problem in iraq of people killed due to sectarian hatred!

They hate not just you they hate each other

  17. Why Merkel has capitulated to Green Party aims is what mystifies me most! She’s no conservative!
Yet almost exactly four years ago, she said “multicult” was “crazy” and had “failed” in Germany.” Why the reversal? And why THIS, coming after the earlier capitulation on Green delusions over Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant disaster, therefore committing Green crazed Germany to eliminating nuclear energy? (Which doubled German energy prices and requires enormous amounts of CO2 releasing coal burning.)

Claudia Roth’s ideas – German Green Party head from her DW interview – struck me as defined as emotionalist authoritarianism.

Since the “Green Party’s” platform is alien religion here, I though some definition is in order:

“A Green party is a formally organized political party based on the principles of green politics, such as social justice and nonviolence. Greens believe that these issues are inherently related to one another as a foundation for world peace. Green party platforms typically embrace social-democratic economic policies and forming coalitions with leftists.” -Wikipedia

Another “family” definition for Green Party adds “Grassroots democracy” – a fourth “pillar” to the three (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Pillars_of_the_Green_Party) – which likely explains why the Right anti-migration opponent, PEGIDA – or “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West” – march under the slogan “Wir Sind Das Volk,” we are the people.

The slogan “We are the People” comes from 1989’s Fall of the Iron Curtain, and the display of people power in Eastern Germany against their Masters. The Left takes extreme umbrage at this (SEE platform item above), and the German and EU media go out of their way to smear the Right as “far right extremists” or Nazis for it.

For example, with the demo in Dresden last October, the media blatantly lied about what their PEGIDA speaker said: namely, that PEGIDA critics wish the Nazis’ death camps were still working, in order to eliminate popular opposition. Media cut the speech in their clips to imply the reverse, implying that PEGIDA is pro-Nazis, instead of anti-Nazis.

My only guess about Merkel’s profound turnabout – the opposite of Thatcher, to whom Angela has been compared – is that it involves courting media love, much like our RINO-class, combined with legacy seeking. How else to explain Nobel Prize watch mentions in October that Merkel might be awarded the Peace Prize for her open migration policy? (Instead, the Swede’s awarded it to the “Democratic Quartet,” a conciliatory NFO from the Arab Spring that negotiated Tunisia to constitutional democracy.)

  18. Benedict was 100%correct. The problem is that the eu is run by postmodern transnationalists who hate the West and see nationalism as something which needs to be wiped out as imperialism was.

  19. Mac has been trumpeting Burnham’s “Suicide of The West” for some time.

I last read it in high school, when I thought his analysis of pathological altruism missed the mark and was unfortunately muddy. ‘Altruism’ stems from Auguste Comte who coined the term by equating it with “self-sacrifice,” which was further refined by Kant’s hyper-rationalism.

And so said, Ayn Rand and the early Nathaniel Branden had achieved a better understanding of how the Left convinces itself to wear sackcloth and ashes, and thus become throttled with guilt in most public remonstrance.

From the 1980s, humanist psychology arose, Reagan made self-interested business drive respectable (in contrast to the inversion from Frost, quoted by Neo, above), and the self-esteem movement peaked during the 1990s, before it was corrupted and desiccated of all individualism and hedonistic celebration by the Politically Correct movement (because ‘ALL must have prizes,’ yet another pointed book title).

No doubt the entire propaganda and intellectual exercise of the Left and the rhetoric of guilt-mongering deserves updating and improvement since Jonah Goldberg’s revisionist intellectual history “Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning.”

Goldberg apologizes too damn much throughout his later chapters devoted to Leftist thinking since FDR. He lacks the conviction of his insights and evidence to deny any invidious comparisons of Olde Time fascism with living Leftists.

  20. Yes, Reliapundit,/b>.

“The bottom line is having the will, skill set, and tools to kill them without remorse or any taint of mercy,” says Parker. And this requires having fimr boundaries and sensible borders.

But altruism requires the dissolution of self into complete brotherhood with aliens, no matter how repugnantly and disgustingly Alien you (and We) are to them.

Why Merkel has capitulated to Green Party aims is what mystifies me most! She’s no conservative!

    &&&

You must realize that the Green Party of Germany — was founded by a German gal who was educated in Minnesota — and then went back to the land of her birth.

Her parents had departed Germany for Minnesota when she was a teen. (12)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petra_Kelly

She picked up her Green ideology in Minnesota — not Germany.

She went back to Germany — for the express purpose of founding a GERMAN Green Party.

She’d already launched an American Green Party. ( it was ultra-tiny — and now not remarked upon at all. I remember of it by way of a McNeil-Lehrer interview — some thirty years ago — the first time that her German Greens were being elected into the German national legislature.

Her American Green party — grew also — she founded BOTH.

You’d be surprised at how many are surprised that both parties have this link — her.

You might note that Minnesota does not have many atomic power plants. (3) Blocking further atomic expansion was #1 on Kelly’s list. This was a point made all those decades ago.

  22. For our children, grandchildren, and great granchildren I am prepared to kill them all, the invaders and their enablers alike, without remorse or any taint of mercy. Personally I would wade through rivers of blood and gore to protect my children and grandchildren. I am old and getting older, but I have the will and skills to snuff out my enemies at a minimum of a 10 to 1 ratio. There are millions like me, the odds are in our favor. Fools may revel in their folly, but when it all comes down to dust they will weep fruitless tears, the high and the low will find no refugue.

  23. A sane altruism does not require obliteration of the self. If there were only a Margaret Thatcher in Europe to confront the power of blind political correctness.

  24. Ever demanded a gun grabbing Democrat put a gun free zone on their property and house?

Altruism doesn’t exist amongst the Left, it’s mere hypocrisy at best.

  25. Europe is engaging in concentration camps, genocide, and depopulation again, except this time on the majority, not minority, of their cattle livestock.

  26. Its “Camp of the Saints”. What an uncannily prescient novel.

On the plus side the Moslem takeover of the UK, Netherlands and Scandinavia is bound to improve the cuisine in those countries.

  27. Holland has a growing problem with a Muslim-run sex trade traffic in teen girls and young women. The road to prostitution for these girls always starts with gang rape.
Having been abused, isolated, and demeaned, the girls stay in Holland’s legal brothels, working as sex slaves for their Muslim pimps. Some of these girls are as young as 11 or 12 years old. Only the lucky few manage to escape.

dutch feminists ignore it, there are similar hate speech laws in all these places. even as i write this i fear being called a racist because i want to stop this kind of thing from happening!!! thats how inborn it is, and someone younger than me who never lived in a different time of protections fears it even more, or just doesnt care about people who say they dont care about them, make policies against them, and emasculate ahd hurt them so they check out of society and ignore the issues as a way of avoiding being hated and attacked

In 2012, the banlieues were in the French news again when 14 Muslim men were accused of repeatedly gang raping 2 teenage girls over a 2-year-period (from 1999 through 2001) in one of these suburbs. In her complaint, the women, known only as Nina, alleged that it had started when she was 16 and was grabbed off the streets, and subjected to scores of rapes by local boys. Nina alleged that there were always as many as 25 boys present and, despite her screaming, crying, and vomiting, they would stand in lines of as many as 50 boys to take their turn with her.

Because the boys who perpetrated these vile attacks were minors, they were all acquitted. The 4 adult men who also participated had equally ridiculous outcomes. Two went to prison for a year, one for six months, and the fourth had a suspended sentence.

  28. how screwed up is it?

Sweden’s feminist foreign minister has dared to tell the truth about Saudi Arabia. What happens now concerns us all

Margot Wallstré¶m’s principled stand deserves wide support. Betrayal seems more likely

    http://new.spectator.co.uk/2015/03/swedens-feminist-foreign-minister-has-dared-to-tell-the-truth-about-saudi-arabia-what-happens-now-concerns-us-all/

Finally, and most revealingly in my opinion, the non-affair shows us that the rights of women always come last. To be sure, there are Twitter storms about sexist men and media feeding frenzies whenever a public figure uses ‘inappropriate language’. But when a politician tries to campaign for the rights of women suffering under a brutally misogynistic clerical culture she isn’t cheered on but met with an embarrassed and hugely revealing silence

so your damned if you protect them, your damned if you dont protect them. since your damned either way, doing nothing is the safest thing to do..

Sweden: Muslims rape over 700 women and 300 children within the first seven months of 2013: Crime report

LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE EU: Cecilia Malmstré¶m, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, does not appear care at all about Sweden’s women and children being targets of brutal rape by aliens she promote entry into her own country.

Malmstré¶m is managing immigration policies and is essentially the person who can decide whether or not Muslim immigrants gain entry into Europe. She has promised entry to even more Muslim terrorists and misogynists, cloaked as asylum seekers and refugees, so they can commit more arson, rapes, and murders.

  29. I belong to a sailing club that meets once a week. It has happened that I’m in a conversation with a small group of members, when one particular member will see us talking and come over. He will commence to take over the entire conversation. Tired of his behavior, the original members of the small group will slip away, one by one. Sometimes, out of politeness, I’m the only one left listening to him. I hate when that happens. I’m thinking of skipping the meetings if I see his car in the parking lot.

  30. There’s more to Pope Benedict’s thoughts, though:

Multiculturalism, which is so passionately promoted, can sometimes amount to an abandonment and denial, a flight from one’s own things. Multiculturalism teaches us to approach the sacred things of others with respect, but we can do this only if we ourselves are not estranged from the sacred, from God. With regard to others, it is our duty to cultivate within ourselves respect for the sacred and to show the face of the revealed God–the God who has compassion for the poor and the weak, for widows and orphans, for the foreigner; the God who is so human that he himself became man, a man who suffered, and who by his suffering with us gave dignity and hope to our pain.

Unless we embrace our own heritage of the sacred, we will not only deny the identity of Europe. We will also fail in providing a service to others to which they are entitled. To the other cultures of the world, there is something deeply alien about the absolute secularism that is developing in the West. They are convinced that a world without God has no future. Multiculturalism itself thus demands that we return once again to ourselves.

In short, it’s “absolute secularism” that’s the problem.

  31. “If there were only a Margaret Thatcher in Europe to confront the power of blind political correctness.”

Margaret Thatcher voted in the 1960’s for the decriminalization of homosexuality and the legalization of abortion, so she too lay at the basis of our cultural suicide.
I mention this because in my opinion what is happening today is the result of a process which has been going on for a long time.

  32. cultural suicide.

Liberty is at the root of your cultural suicide. If you just got rid of it, and lived as a slave under Islam, you wouldn’t need to perform cultural suicide.

  33. “Liberty is at the root of your cultural suicide. If you just got rid of it, and lived as a slave under Islam, you wouldn’t need to perform cultural suicide.”

    a) Living as a “slave under islam” is cultural suicide and moral suicide.
    b) “Liberty at the root of cultural suicide. If you just got rid of it …”;
What does that even mean. That the USA hadn’t liberty when abortion and homosexuality were illegal? That the West up until the change of laws in the sixties hadn’t “liberty”. That say the founding the USA or the submission to islam is of equal value?. That “culture” is solely defined by abortion and homosexuality?

Frankly, rather an inane comment of yours.
