Liberals win big in Canada
So, why did Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party win yesterday’s Canadian election?
It seems that voters wanted hope and change. In particular, they seem to have wanted a change to a Prime Minister with very little political executive experience. Sound familiar?
Trudeau also has built-in name recognition—his father was Pierre Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada from April 1968 to June 1979, and then again from March 1980 to June 1984.
Justin Trudeau is very telegenic, young and handsome. Style over substance seems to be the watchword of the day. Here’s more:
Trudeau has used attacks on his good looks and privileged upbringing to win over voters, who recalled his father’s rock-star presence and an era when Canada had some sizzle on the world stage.
…The Trudeau victory weakened the Canadian dollar. Financial market players had praised the Conservative government for its steady hand in economic management, which had spared Canada the worst of the global financial malaise.
And from the WSJ:
Mr. Trudeau will become the leader of a Group of Seven country without having held an executive job or a cabinet post. He faces the task of injecting confidence into the economy, which he plans to tackle by loosening the country’s fiscal purse strings. He has said he would run budget deficits for at least three years to finance 60 billion Canadian dollars (US$46 billion) in infrastructure spending.
That approach is in contrast to the one taken by the Harper government…Mr. Harper was widely credited with helping Canada emerge relatively unscathed and in better shape than its G-7 peers from the global financial crisis and recession, in part by launching an aggressive stimulus program to mitigate the fallout…
Mr. Trudeau faces the task of proving himself on the world stage and is equipped with little experience of foreign affairs at a time when global tensions are escalating…
The news isn’t all bad; it might have been worse. For a while, polls indicated that a party even more to the left of Trudeau’s Liberals might win, the New Democrats (descriptive name, I think; maybe our Democratic Party ought to adopt it).
Justin Trudeau, like Obama, made his political name initially by giving a speech. In Trudeau’s case it was a speech in 2000 at his father’s funeral, when Justin was 28 years old. His pre-political resume resembles Obama’s a tiny bit, as well: he was a teacher, and also a “youth advocate,” whatever that is. And his campaign slogan? “Real Change.”
It’s only since the beginning of October that the Liberal Party surpassed the Conservatives. That’s three weeks. Why did this happen? I’m not at all sure, and haven’t found much to explain it, but then again I certainly don’t have my finger on the pulse of Canadian politics.
Then there’s this:
Trudeau has also committed to bringing in 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada and invest $250m into refugee processing.
I wouldn’t think that would be a tremendously popular platform, but apparently it was.
Oh, and let’s not forget one more thing—our own president (from an article written back in March):
Fresh out of the Israel election, where they failed to dump Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in spite of millions of dollars, top Obama campaign experts are still in Canada working to topple our staunchly pro-Israel, Christian, conservative prime minister.
Why is the Obama campaign team working Canada?
Primarily because current circumstances make The Land of the Maple Leaf easy pickings. The Justin Trudeau-led Liberal Party and Tom Mulcair-led New Democratic Party (NDP)””who have tried it twice before and came close””are poised to form a Coalition to rid Canada of Israel-loving Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
To the U.S., Canada is the country next door, to Obama it’s home of the architects of the maligned Keystone XL Pipeline and home to the world’s Number One elected defender of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The article goes on to list many many ways in which ex-staffers of the Obama campaign are working for the Liberal Party in Canada. It’s hard—actually, impossible—to say how much influence this had on the election. But these people are pretty effective political operatives.
Justin Trudeau follows in father Pierre’s footsteps to become Canada’s new Liberal Prime Minister
Under Trudeau Pé¨re the Orwellian “Human Right Courts” were installed.
In some provinces “progressive” policies imposed “straight-homosexual” clubs on Catholic (and no doubt other Christian) schools under the pretension of combating “bullying”. That it undermined, in fact made a mockery of, Catholic teaching was just a coincidence (/s).
So I’m afraid the news is very bad, and it could hardly have been worse. Most of the Left simply doesn’t recognizes anyone’s rights anymore. The already mentioned “Human Right” Courts can serve as an example.
An article on Breitbart also said the Obama operatives also brought the Obama campaign’s sophisticated Get Out The Vote technology to the Trudeau campaign. Who knows how many of their votes are real, especially if the entire country supposedly leaped to the left in less than two months?
So Obama is going to end up inflicting “fundamental transformation” on the whole of Gaia before he’s done. What could possibly go wrong?
Seems that wome vote with their pudendas more than men vote with their you know whats…
they also vote for more and more control and statism and despotism…
(they fear freedom and a lot of things)
No previous political experience? Yet the pundits tell us Trump can’t be elected because he has not previously held elective office. Perhaps the times they are a’changin’.
For anyone with even a passing interest in gender equality or women’s rights, it’s a relief to see feminism becoming more and more mainstream.
No longer solely the domain of crotchety academics who demand we take a lighter to our lingerie, feminism’s makeover for the new millennium has made it as accessible and fun as a Beyoncé single — and it’s everywhere we look.
There are feminist boxing classes, feminist baking groups, and, of course, feminist dating websites.

If people thought the Southern border of the US was the only thing in contention… think again.
Jihadists have had far more luck infiltrating Western countries like Canada than they ever did in Latin America countries.
“these people are pretty effective political operatives.”
Is it political savvy to worm your way through the rot you’d instilled? One might take advantage of the pretty woman one had plied with liquor but would have no call to think himself a Casanova.

That reminds me of something strange I heard from Japan.
“A man that treats everyone nicely and a man that treats only one person nicely, a girl would value the latter higher if they were that special someone he treated nicely. For the same reason why men only value women highly when the woman doesn’t spread her legs for every man around.”
Very loose paraphrase. It just reminds me that 3rd+ wave feminism is about destroying the power of the individual female over the individual male, and vice a versa, in order to replace that power hierarchy, that chain of command, with Loyalty to the State. Men, lovers of one woman, are now commanded to be nice and treat every woman as special. That, by definition, means lovers are not special to each other, and it means males and females owe ultimate fealty and loyalty not to each other, but to the Leftist alliance that pulls the feminist strings.
I do not hold out much hope for 2016. The world is changing before our eyes. I am not sure we can really fathom how far to the left our “children” are. I know that every single person I know 30 and under are practically Marxists (they don’t say so out loud, I am not completely sure they even understand that the stance they take on most issues is essentially Marxist in nature.) How old are all of us here reading this blog? I bet we are on average older than 40 or 45 all of us (average age.) The Reagan democrats are either dead or soon to die. The world is changing, changing and we may live to see the final transformations. My nieces advocate vociferously for gun repossession. They really do not think there is a right to have a gun. The interesting clash may be when these leftists butt up against the Islamists; when they finally part ways politically. I am not sure I want to live long enough to see that because the world will be a very scary place when that comes to pass. Israel is soon to be completely alone I fear, if they aren’t already after this Canadian election.
On the plus side, Trudeau fils has promised to put electoral reform to Parliament, and personally advocates dumping the “first past the post” vote counting method (whoever gets the most votes in one round of voting wins) in favor of ranked choice voting (in which voters rank their choices, and the candidate with the lowest number of voters is eliminated and the ballots redistributed to their second choice and so on).
That’s a pretty huge step, since FPTP vote counting hugely distorts representation in the House of Commons: the Liberals currently have 54.4% of the seats in the House of Commons, despite having received only 39.5% of the popular vote.
If only we had politicians in the US advocating for the same thing. The way we count votes contributes to the high walls around political involvement that the two major political parties have built to keep third parties out.
George Pal – hear hear! Quite right you are.
Janetoo – Your despair is well-founded nonetheless there will be a return swing of the pendulum so don’t give up. And Israel will never “be completely alone”, they have friends in higher places than earthly fiefdoms.
Once again, Obama is showing himself to be a knave, not a fool.
If he is a real Progressive not only will he kill KXL, he’ll stop the oil sands in Western Canada. That will crush their economy.
Next terror attack will come via Canada.
Janetoo, don’t be too afraid. I have 4 kids. All of them are conservative. Some more conservative than others; one maybe ‘in the middle’ because she is young and wants to appear reasonable. All of them are of voting age with the exception of the youngest.
I also remember being more ‘in the middle’ when I was in college. Then I grew up and am super-duper conservative! 😉
Considering the popularity of Trump and Carson right now, I believe your fears are unfounded. Even some on the left are interested in Trump. We haven’t seen this kind of cross-over action since Reagan. Also, the results of the recent Swiss election shows me that even in more ‘socialist’ Europe the tide is turning.
What a shame we didn’t succeed in taking Canada during the Revolutionary War. Think of all the useless socialists we could have added to America.
First I have heard of the Obama machinations in the Canadian election; I have been following it mostly at Mark Steyn’s blog and he hasn’t mentioned anything like that — I do not doubt that Obama & Crew would do so, however, and it may have made enough difference to swing a close election.
I fear that it shows our Northern Neighbors have not paid close attention to what happened here after the Hope & Change Brigade gained control — or they really are stupid enough to think it might work there despite all the evidence.
Oh Cannabis!

I’m Canadian, and I’m just happy the Liberals won an outright majority. A Liberal-NDP coalition government would have been a terrible scenario.
We’ll have to see what type of Liberals this new government is, but the Liberal party can be suprisingly pragmatic, and often has a core of fiscal conservatism. For example, it was the Liberal Chretien government in the 1990s which gave us a run of balanced budgets, which they achieved by cutting spending in a time of prosperity.
If that wing of the party still retains some influence, things shouldn’t be too bad. Perhaps one advantage of the current Canadian structure is that the real leftists are drained off into the NDP, leaving the Liberals fairly sane.
RohanV –
There is only one type of Federal Liberal in Canada – their raison d’etre is to be in power at all costs. Left and Right do not come into it.
Chretien and finance minister Martin ‘balanced’ the budget by downloading costs to the provinces creating havoc with the provincial economies.
That Harper managed to unite the right wing parties in 2004/5 and went on to win 3 elections has given us 9 years of excellent financial governance. He did this amid the most hateful non stop propaganda from the Canadian media
The onslaught of hate from opinion makers in the Canadian media as well as the tax funded CBC has been constant since then. The triumphalism on display last night was odious.
After reforming the FPTP system his next item on the list is to deliberately plunge us into 3 years of deficit spending.
We are a resource based economy and Trudeau is Obama lite in this area.
I see that our dollar fell this morning when the markets opened.
Perhaps one advantage of the current Canadian structure is that the real leftists are drained off into the NDP, leaving the Liberals fairly sane.
And if they happen to be working with Hussein O, what then?
Janetoo
A new generation raised in the absence of decadence is required, but that probably won’t play out exactly given modern settings.
However, the new generation’s tendency to Obey Authority in all things can be shattered, although not via the majority or mainstream culture.
From Canadian David Warren’s piece on the election, The triumph of drivel:
And in line with Janetoo’s comments above:
This election is just another step Canada is taking in becoming another European country.
I’ve been going to Whistler, BC since the early 90s when it was just getting off the ground as a resort. Beautiful mountain area. Fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, golf, and more. The village was a quiet, laid back area this time of year until they had the Winter Olympics there in 2010. Now, the place is packed year around. And with the Olympics came regulation. Now, every where you go there are signs telling you what you should do. Don’t pick up rocks, drive carefully, slow down, speed up, etc., etc. The locals seem to have adopted a passive aggressive attitude. They mostly ignore the signs.
I live about 65 miles south of the border. Our Costco has many more BC than Washington license plates in the parking lot most days. I’ve talked with many of the Canucks. Even though its a long trip and an all day affair with two border crossings, they save a ton of money. Especially on gasoline.(The VAT drives prices way up, but pays for their welfare and healthcare system.) Even with the Loony down against the buck, they still save money. Those who can afford it also have come to depend on our healthcare system to help them jump the line for elective surgery. If Trudeau caves to the Greens and decides that oil sands development and logging are evil, their fiscal situation could become markedly worse.
If you want to see our future, keep an eye on Canada.
Right out of the gate: Canada’s new leader to pull planes from anti-Islamic State coalition
“Canada’s new leader to pull planes from anti-Islamic State Coalition”
That goes nicely together with the “Human Rights Commission”
That was 2008. ISIL seems to have found that “unidenfiable” group, and are doing their utmost best to exterminate it, the Commission could not see.
But not to worry, the Left is all about Human Rights.
Expect more of the same under the new leader.

What about the American Sweden? Since the left loves Islam so much perhaps Canada will welcome Muslims from the Middle East and will soon be privileged to join Sweden among the rape capitals of the World.
