Black voters and Donald Trump — 19 Comments

  1. Trump is the only one with the fewest connections that rely on politics and so is the only one running that can clean house, and both sides are afraid he will do that.

anyone else is just a new age shill… which means that your FOR new age shills instead of against them. of course i could ask, what do you really know about trump that would make you not think he would be good?

did you read about what he did for the elderly couple that helped him on the highway? or other things?

most of whats out there is pap from the left, and i will bet a large amount of what you know is from there, not ot mention that a lot of beliefs come from them too… especially if not examined..

    on another note
russian troops are in syria fighting in the war, and the west is not reporting it. they are the forces driving the refugee movement which together with obama, have managed to accelerate immigration and transplantation by an order of magnitude

    and

Russia is building a drone submarine to deliver large-scale nuclear weapons against U.S. harbors and coastal cities, according to Pentagon officials. The developmental unmanned underwater vehicle, or UUV, when deployed, will be equipped with megaton-class warheads capable of blowing up key ports used by U.S. nuclear missile submarines, such as Kings Bay, Ga., and Puget Sound in Washington state. Details of the secret Russian nuclear UUV program remain closely held within the U.S. government.

  2. “Details of the secret Russian nuclear UUV program remain closely held. . .”

Apparently not REAL closely held. . .

  3. He also resonates with the bling bling/ghetto-fabulous/pimp-my-whatever crowd, probably moreso than any candidate in history.

  4. artfldgr:

I’ve explained in many posts and at great length what I think about Trump and why, as well as why I favor certain other candidates and who those people are.

  5. I suspect that Trump’s appeal among black voters centers entirely upon his stance on illegal immigration and their perception that he actually means it.

  6. Addendum: the reason why black voters believe Trump to be sincere on illegals is his no nonsense, direct, to the point style of speaking. In general, blacks do not intellectualize. “Say what you mean and mean what you say” resonates with them.

  7. Say what you mean, mean what you resonates with me too. But that doesn’t change my opinion that the donald is insincere. I judge trump on his previous opinions on abortion, healthcare, his until recently proclaimed status as a democrat, and a host of other issues. The donald is no Saul on the road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue changing into Paul.

  8. parker,

Despite my frequent wordiness, it resonates with me as well. I’m not sure as to whether Trump is serious or not in his stance on illegals. But I suspect he is, which does not in any way detract from my equal distrust of him. He’s not a conservative, at best he’s a blowhard liberal with RINO leanings.

  9. I agree with others, but I bet it also helps that Trump is very much a New Yorker and a long-time celebrity. They don’t have to get over any ingrained bias/dislike for the standard issue bland, New Englandy or Southern, WASPy conservative white dude they typically see representing the GOP.

  10. GB,

I find it difficult to believe trump is serious about cracking down on illegal aliens crashing the southern border. He is an elitist, and elitists suffer nothing from the flood of illegal aliens, in fact they benefit in many ways from the flood.

If trump is somehow a patriot, its interesting that his focus on the illegal invasion is so recent. IMO, he saw the backlash to the highly visible border crash of the recent past as an issue to step into the political arena for motives that have little to do with ”making America great again”. He smells like a saboteur to me.

  11. Plus, the donald sees no reason for the peasants to own those evil ‘assault’ rifles like AR-15 pattern rifles, the most popular semi-auto rifle in the good old USA. Personally, I have no burning desire to own an ‘assault’ rifle, there will be plenty laying on the ground when I need one. And many of them will have full auto capabilities.

Those who think trump is the ONE should beware the unintended consequences of their desire to replace the mannish boy with another mannish boy.

  12. A few weeks ago I was standing in the checkout line at a store. In front of me was a Hispanic man and a kid. If I recall correctly, they were talking in Spanish. There was a fairly large black guy standing behind me. He said to me fairly loudly, ‘They are taking over”….I figured it was a no win situation so i didn’t do much but smile and try to change the subject….but I had been thinking the same thing….

  13. …notice how the media doesn’t talk about “urban sprawl ” so much while they are pushing open borders. Sometimes when i’m stuck in traffic I play a mental game where I imagine how many fewer cars there would be on the road if the borders had not been left open the last 30 years. Where I live many of the newest residents drive large SUVs and Trucks….Usually I estimate about 40 to 50% less traffic…..

  14. Trump’s current advantage is a result of not allowing DC insiders or Republican staffers to coach him.

A lot of the inhibitions and train wrecks we saw before concerning Palin and Bush II, were the result of the “advisers” around them. Which cannot be trusted.

And it will take a lot more than one individual to fight this system and win. Many of his supporters are weak and lazy, they want a Hero King to proclaim their victory and make them fight.

  15. They’ve watched him for several seasons on “The Apprentice” and they see that he is rich, powerful, and will fire people. That resonates. As we know, most early polling is all about name recognition…and Trump has that in spades over all other candidates. Think about it: you are a poller, you ask random people to look at a list of candidates and then pick who they’d vote for, many random people will pick the name they recognize the most. Sad, but true.

I am still not that horrified by the idea of a Trump presidency. I don’t think he could do worse than Obama. I think he would really move on the immigration issue. I’ve read his book, his tax plan is not the worst one I’ve seen…in fact, it included EVERYONE paying a tax. And the idea of ‘rich’ was moved up to $1M plus in annual income. Better than what we have now. I think he would be a great CEO of the country. I think he would bring experienced managers into the federal government.

Sure, there may be a few social issues that I disagree with…but immigration, taxes and economy are probably number one with me. And he’s not that scary when you look at what he is talking about.

  16. And he’s not that scary when you look at what he is talking about.

You never heard about his casino bailouts have you?

  17. Anyone else starting to suspect that there’s something really wrong with the polls? Like fundamentally, nobodys-taking-this-seriously wrong?

  18. Ymarsakar – You mean how his businesses were run? That he took advantage of bankruptcy laws, etc.? No, that doesn’t bother me. Shows me he knows our laws inside and out and knows where businesses take advantage. This includes trade policy. Why should I be scared of his casino business exactly?

Why is everyone so frightened of a business person being president? Why do we always have to have attorneys or long-time politicans? I like the idea of going back to ‘citizen government.’

Show me a successful, rich business person who hasn’t had failure. There aren’t any. They all have backgrounds of taking risks…which means they risk losing everything with the hope they will win. You really think Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing? That he doesn’t hire good people? That he doesn’t understand government? He’s almost 70 years old. He remembers what this country was like when there was opportunity for all.

I’ll take that over a Jeb Bush any day.
