Oh, and by the way…
…Hillary sent classified information, too. Except it wasn’t marked “classified” at the time:
The extent of the redactions in e-mails sent by Clinton and others, including ambassadors and career Foreign Service officers, points to a broader pattern that has alarmed intelligence officials in which sensitive information has been circulated on non-secure systems. Another worry is that Clinton aides further spread sensitive information by forwarding government e-mails to Clinton’s private account.
But it also highlights concerns raised by Clinton and her supporters that identifying classified material can be a confusing process, and well-meaning public officials reviewing the same material could come to different conclusions as to its classification level.
Lately, Clinton keeps repeating that she didn’t send material marked classified. That’s certainly a lawyerly claim—and I don’t mean that as a compliment. She should not have been even using a private email and a private server (especially one stored in some closet) for any of her official correspondence, and she certainly shouldn’t have been sending questionable material through that system. For example, information on the location of North Korean nukes?:
One of the most serious potential breaches of national security identified so far by the intelligence community inside Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private emails involves the relaying of classified information concerning the movement of North Korean nuclear assets, which was obtained from spy satellites.
Multiple intelligence sources who spoke to The Washington Times, solely on the condition of anonymity, said concerns about the movement of the North Korean information through Mrs. Clinton’s unsecured server are twofold.
First, spy satellite information is frequently classified at the top-secret level and handled within a special compartment called Talent-Keyhole. This means it is one of the most sensitive forms of intelligence gathered by the U.S.
Second, the North Koreans have assembled a massive cyberhacking army under an elite military spy program known as Bureau 121, which is increasingly aggressive in targeting systems for hacking, especially vulnerable private systems.
I am not the Secretary of State. But even I know that’s not the sort of thing you send through your private email. It’s not the sort of thing that has to be marked “classified” in a big font, with a skull and crossbones, for you to know it’s extraordinarily sensitive information. It’s the sort of thing, in the old spy movies, that the recipient would be told to eat or burn after receiving.
Our next president? Certainly hope not.
This is why Bush II was having so many problems with Democrats when it came to using intel to find terrorists. They were not only in the way, they were the enemy.
And what about the small time firm in Colorado that was maintaining her closet server? This is a security nightmare. It is highly probable NK, China, Russia, and a hacker collective in Romania have the entire contents of hrc’s closet server. And of course they hacked into the data of those she corresponded with about yoga, the slings and arrows of life as a career woman, and the vast right wing conspiracy.
I was read into SCI/TK in a former life. It is clear from the wording in those documents that it is classified information, even if the security markings have not been included. For anyone to pretend that it was not classified because it didn’t say “TOP SECRET” on the page is naive in the in the extreme. Hillary’s aids must have known (especially Huma Abedin and Sid Blumenthal) and the two of them should be under lock and key right now. As for whether or not Hillary knew what was transiting her private email system — if she did, she is a felon. If she did not, she is too dumb to be president.
I remember when those on the left and in the media (BIRM) said how brilliant she was–the smartest woman in the world. But gosh darn it–it is too ‘complicated’ to realize that information on North Korean nuclear capabilities might be classified!
Anyone who reads classic spy novels knows the high security around diplomatic correspondence. The diplomatic pouch and all that. A student of history (but not AP history ) will remember the Zimmerman telegram that pushed the U.S. Into WWI. A proper Secretary of State would have known the value of proper procedure.
Madam Hillary, in classic Clintonian fashion, obscures matters by speaking in “lawyerly” gobbledygook.
I know a bit about the procedures for handling materials designated “classified,” “secret” and “top secret,” and have seen how some other materials were “marked” as such. As I recall, cleared people were supposed to know what materials they created might be sensitive, and then would inform a security officer to make a determination; in the meantime, they would guard such materials, and certainly never put them on an unsecured computer and never, ever, ever email them to/from unsecured networks.
Surely Ms Clinton should have known much of the information she was carelessly passing around should have been carefully protected, not stored on, and sent to, unsecured computers and people without security clearances.
Does anyone out there know what the legally-mandated procedures are for managing sensitive materials (documents, computer files, emails, etc) that you have generated yourself?
I suspect this is where Ms Clinton had broken the law, and why she uses the Clintonian obfuscation that she never sent or received information marked as classified: if she herself was responsible for ensuring that sensitive information was “marked,” then she broke the law.
Am I the only one gobsmacked that we still have to get into the weeds to prove that Hillary broke the law?
It’s obvious that there was no way she could fulfill her day-to-day responsibilities (especially with all that travel she keeps bragging about) without classified information passing through that private, laughably under-secured server. Not to mention that this, combined with recent revelations about the Clinton foundation’s finances, strongly indicates she was up to things on par or worse than the security breaches.
From what I’ve read on the subject, this is why the really sensitive stuff is supposed to be ‘air-gapped’ i.e. handled by dedicated secure systems, and only transferred to non-secure systems after a rigorous review to ensure sensitive information has been redacted. She’s trying to be evasive but in essence is admitting that her minions were transcribing information from secure documents into emails to her that lacked the classification tags.
Its amazing to me how much unseriousness and disregard for the duties of their office someone in that position could have. Why wouldnt it be easily believable Benghazi could have been adequately supported or even avoided if she (and her boss) took her job seriously.
We need a catalyst to get her indicted.
Israel should leak to Woodward and Fox News just a few of the national security secrets they hacked along with proof that the Chinese and Russians hacked her account too.
That would wake people up.
The problem is that both Clintons are such criminals that people aren’t shocked and just expect this stuff from them.
Where is the patriotism of AG Lynch?
This is not a silly political game.
I only wonder what type of damage has already happened.
I work in health care IT, and if I sent patient health data to my personal email, I would be fired and probably prosecuted. Everything is encrypted. We undergo training every year on data security. And in a past life, I held a Secret security clearance, well below that of Madame SOS, and I had the fear of God put into me regarding the handling of classified information. There is no way she didn’t know. No possible way.
It will all come down to our fearless leader and what he had said to AG Lynch. It’s either thumbs up or thumbs down. Justice and law are non issues.
Good grief, they don’t call them “state secrets” for nothing. And everyone who works in an office knows how careful you have to be with the most generic of business emails. It’s common to have to sign policies regarding appropriate use, etc. This woman was the SECRETARY OF STATE, for Pete’s sake. The only plausible explanation, outside of general stupidity, is that she doesn’t think the rules apply to her.

You’re not the only one, but at this point many of us are not surprised that the Clintons are exempted from having to abide by the same rules as everyone else.
Hence the need to “get into the weeds to prove that Hillary broke the law.” Of course, in doing so, one is liable to fall prey to the Clinton’s next line of defense: barfing up a profusion of technicalities and legal details that’s so complicated and boring everyone gives up on the whole stinking mess.
Nevertheless, I’d still like to see the “in the weeds” legal specifics that nail Hillary to the wall as having broken the law.
People who are conservative believe that serving in government is a sacred trust. They also believe that protecting our country and citizens is a top priority. That kind of thinking is not present among the progs. Obama, Hillary, Kerry, and other progs all have a view that the U.S. is a goliath that has imposed its will on the rest of the world for far too long. They also seem to think that we are so powerful that worrying about tiny countries like Iran, South Korea, Iraq, Syria, etc. is a waste of time. i.e. They are all “JV.”
Hillary and her fellow travelers are contemptuous of the need to remain strong and to protect state secrets. Their jobs in government are regarded as launching pads to impose their progressive (Marxist) agenda on the West. Thus, they don’t care about doing things the way they should be done to protect the country. She is not stupid, she just doesn’t care.
WWII was decided by the penetration of Japanese diplomatic traffic.
That much many know — what is not well known:
1) Baron Hirosi Oshima (Berlin) was a tight pal of Adolf Hitler, who proceeded to spill the beans — rather completely, too.
2) Then the Baron would wire Tokyo — AT L E N G T H — with all of the details.
These were the transmissions than decided WWII in EUROPE. The Japanese diplomatic code was of virtually no utility in the Pacific Campaign — exactly the opposite of one might expect.
Adolf telegraphed all of his long range plans — and often extolled next generation weapons to the Baron. (V-2)
He also informed that he, Adolf, could not imagine any lesser commander than General Patton to be leading the cross channel invasion… and that when Patton showed up, Adolf would move against him with full force — since Patton had to be the ‘real deal.’
Even Eisenhower was not informed of this tidbit. Marshall simply made sure that Patton was made head of a massive invasion army — FUSAG. It was composed of rubber tanks, of course, and spare GMC trucks, too. ( They had to be parked somewhere. )
The Baron simply leaked everything.
The following nations were all reading his traffic:
USSR
UK
US
Sweden
Italy
Yes, Imperial Japanese cypher security stunk.
It never recovered from the 1923 breach created when the previous emperor died. The imperial court had the exact same plain text sent to every command of the navy and army. Worse, RN officers were serving on board at that time — with direct access to the plain text. (!)
Once broken into, it proved impossible to introduce enough complications to fake out anyone.
&&&
Hillary has performed the identical stunt with her email server.
It must be plain that our cypher security has been broken.
That’s the best explanation for the Iranian ‘negotiations.’
It also explains the Russian – Ukrainian War. You would not believe the jabber that our gal in Kiev sent back to Washington and off to Brussels.
At least one of the messages was leaked, foul mouthed as it was.
Folks, this is a DISASTER.
HRC has inflicted FAR more damage than Edward Snowden.
Normally, once a cypher system has been compromised — it has to be totally thrown out. Additional complications are not enough to recover security.
The Red Chinese have sent 5 vessels up to the Bering sea — to coincide with BHO’s visit. Without a doubt their REAL mission is to penetrate our cypher systems.
For the more we chatter about them, the easier it is for their electronic intelligence professionals to crack our keywords.

Hillary is living on borrowed time. She is suffering the political death of a ‘thousand cuts’. Obama is using the slow release of ever more damning information to incrementally pressure her to quit. She’s already ‘done’ and is just waiting for Obama to “stick a fork” in her. It’s likely that Obama has copies of all of her emails, which are miraculously being unearthed cut by cut.
The FBI has the evidence to at least charge HRC (and maybe many more)
No all that is needed is an AG that has the will to so … don’t hold your breath on AG Lynch.
If there is no charges you can bet the farm … it’s because it would directly involve the WH!
Hillary and WH are playing high stakes chicken … who’s gona blink?
Is is a common misperception that the information revealed by the satellite photo was why it was classified at the highest level. Not – the Norks know where their own nukes are. What is classified is the resolution, the capabilities, of satellite imagery.
Everybody spies. The real question is just how good are the spies? What do they really know? What do they know that just ain’t so?
It would not surprise any knowledgeable person if it were revealed that the image is a fake – either enhanced or degraded. When you want to fool the other guy you don’t “accidentally” leave a classified document in a booth at a diner near the Russian embassy. You make him work hard enough to convince him that the information is real. I think it is a certainty that doctored imagery has been “leaked” on more than one occasion.
When an adversary’s spy operation is discovered you don’t arrest the spies – you use them as a disinformation channel.
I am not in any way asserting that Hillary’s server was used as a disinformation channel. I just wouldn’t be surprised if it were.
Blert:
Did you see the Bletchley Park/ Enigma movie?
I thought it was good.
Hillary is toast. All her past excuses have been exposed as lies. And she’s reached the end of the road, so there are no new lies to tell. Even reporters are starting to catch on. They’re not buying the State Dept. line that the information is classified now, but it wasn’t at the time.
They’re not buying it because Obama issued two executive orders on 29 December, both somewhat confusingly numbered 13526, one supplemental to the other. They seem to be familiar with the one titled “Classified National Security Information (if they read the other 13526, “Original Classification Authority,” that would put another nail in Hillary’s coffin although I’m not sure more nails are needed).
But they know that per that E.O. it is presumed that the compromise of foreign government information damages national security. And they know per that same E.O. that is the definition of information that must be classified at least confidential. And it has to be classified at least confidential when it’s received, if for no other reason then governments will turn off the spigot and stop providing information if their communications are not kept in confidence. Not kept in confidence five years down the road, but the moment they pass the information.
This isn’t to say she’ll be indicted. This isn’t to say the DoJ won’t try to sweep everything under the rug and declare her innocent. But if they do it will be a purely political move; laws and taxes are only for the little people.
So I’d like to turn to something I find more interesting at the moment. The truly despicable way the State Dept. has circled the wagons and are protecting Clinton. And themselves. And also the despicable Obama administration, which is letting them get away with it.
The State Depr. is acting like when this information they’re finding on Clinton’s home brew server should have been classified a difficult question to answer. Apparently the issue of classifying information is some arcane, dark art. It can take years to figure out, and even then there can be, according to one spokesperson, strong opinions one way and the other.
I have never heard such BS in my life. It’s actually very simple. You classify foreign government information when you get it if for no other reason than to let the foreign government know you can keep a secret.
For the first time in my life I wish I were a reporter, just so I could ask one of these walking talking embarrassments four questions.
1. Is this really the message you want foreign governments to get out of this whole debacle? That when they pass you information in confidence it can take you five years to get around to figuring out if you should actually treat that information as they expect you to?
2. If not, what assurances are you passing to them backchannel so they don’t get that impression.
3. If you are passing them separate reassurances that you’re keeping from the American people, isn’t it obvious you’re just covering for Hillary Clinton’s and your own Department’s criminal misconduct when it comes to mishandling classified?
4. Why aren’t the rules written down in black and white? They were when I was in the Navy, what makes you guys so special?
Just to let you know it’s long been widely believed by those in the intelligence community that the State Department is one big massive security risk. I’m not talking necessarily about the few professionals in State’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research but I am talking about the vast majority of political types. Now that the IC has got the goods to prove it I don’t believe they’ll let it go soon. Make some popcorn, the show should be good.
I laughed at jack’s game of chicken idea, because it is a perfect description of what is going on behind the curtain. The obamas and clintions play kissy kissy in public, but I think there is no doubt they loathe one another. Bho is, as I and others have noted in previous posts, is engaged in administering political death by 10,000 cuts.
The clintons are once again convinced they can be triumphant. However, it will be deja vu all over again. Bho has no intention of allowing the clintons into the oval office. Before the end of the year I think hrc will drop out for ‘health reasons’.
Hillary had three potential outs:
1) she can drop out for health reasons.
2) She can drop out for Bill’s health reasons.
3) she can drop out to play with baby Charlotte.
I keep waiting for her to bring the baby onto the campaign trail. (That baby probably has not spent very much time with Granny Hilly.)
Susanamantha, as we learn more about her criminal mishandling of classified information I reckon her only out is to get elected President so she can pardon herself.
Agree. She’ll be dropping out for “health reasons.” She has been beaten at her own game by Obama, who is making it a slow and painful death. And anointed Biden to boot.

If this is true, she earned her fate after years of lying and corruption. I hope you are right about this. As bad a candidate as Madam Hillary is, I think the options open to the Democrats at this point are even worse: Slow-Joe Biden, really???
If she does drop out (as others are also saying), the Republicans will have to try pretty hard to lose, but I think they might be up to the task. Or, if they do win the presidency and hold both houses, they’ll need to do some fancy explaining why they still can’t get anything accomplished…
“Or, if they do win the presidency and hold both houses, they’ll need to do some fancy explaining why they still can’t get anything accomplished…”
The Democrats wouldn’t even need to have any House seats. The Republicans can have them all.
All the Democrats need are 40 Senators and they can block any legislation from reaching President Cruz’s desk.
That’s what I’ve learned from Mitch McConnell.
Judge: Mrs. Clinton, how do you plead?
Mrs. Clinton: I’ll be dropping out for health reasons.
Somehow I think the judge is going to need to hear either the word innocent or guilty.
This whole email scandal shows that Hillary Clinton is just plain stupid.
I’ll expand a little on my “stupid” comment.
How stupid and arrogant do you have to be to believe that a home-brewed server will be immune from Chinese and Russian cyber attacks?
jfm: I think she is more worried about the WH and the American public reading her emails than she is about the Chinese or Russians doing so.
My turn to expand: She is at the head of a criminal conspiracy. The Chinese or Russians are not going to charge her and put her in jail. That will come from the US Justice Department if it is to come at all (a big if). That’s why she doesn’t want her emails read by Americans.
Obama is dragging out the process to destroy her completely. When she finally goes, there will be no chance for her to say “it was one little thing that brought me down!” No, the American public is getting to see the whole picture show, we’re familiar with all the personalities and the sub plots, and we’re getting to know just how despicable a person she really is. Obama is not just preventing her from running for president, he is totally destroying her.
Once the Left consolidates the power into a unified chain of command, do people really think they will be safe then?
Remember, a very small percentage of the US population is financing the likes of her.
You get old, you get forgetful:
“Hillary or someone from her camp erased the outbox containing her emails, but forgot to erase the emails that were in her sent box,” an insider reveals to Radar of the Presidential contender’s latest nightmare.
Here’s a link to a comprehensive timeline of the Hillary email saga and its ties to Benghazi. Worth a look.

Which brings up another facet of the unprecedented national catastrophe that was Hillary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State. The major portion of her job would have been to communicate and establish relationships with those in similar governmental positions around the globe. Primarily but not exclusively foreign ministers.
These people would presumably not have shared Clinton’s paranoia. They would have primarily been concerned that any information they shared in confidence with the United States would be safeguarded from the Russians, the Chinese, or any other foreign adversary they didn’t want to read their mail. Which is exactly opposite to Clinton’s obvious goal.
They’re not as stupid as Clinton, as jfm helpfully observes. They know they might as well post their correspondence to facebook as send it @clintonmail.com. So they wouldn’t share the information.
She could not possibly have been effective as Secretary of State, but actually doing the job of the Secretary of State never seems to have crossed her mind.
The catastrophe that is Hillary Clinton has almost innumerable angles, none less than disastrous. And the appalling thing is she could win the Democratic nomination and possibly the general election from prison simply because of her name and it’s time for America to finally aspire to the great historical achievement of electing someone who knows what it’s like to menstruate as President. Or something.
HRC and other Senator traitors like her, were doing pretty much the same thing under Bush II. Under Reagan. Under Nixon.
Nothing has changed. I repeat, nothing has changed except some technical details like email existence.
Ymarsakar, that’s no small change. Thanks to the miracle of email and the internet these people can now do inestimable damage.
Literally. I left a comment on the thread about security laying that out.
I find it fascinating that no one in the press or on the stump has pointed out that under that evil vast right-wing conspirator Richard M. Nixon, there were a succession of Attorneys General who were willing to say, “take this job and shove it!” to the President, but there isn’t even one lowly US Attorney under this administration willing to do the same.
Hillary has patently violated the Espionage Act, specifically 18 USC 793(d) and (f), probably (e), and probably 18 USC 798(a)(4), the latter if she had, as I suspect she did, staffers stripping the classification markings off e-mail to the SoS.
Maybe the deal is, she drops out and Barry pardons her. Ya think?
Thanks to the miracle of email and the internet these people can now do inestimable damage.
You’ve underestimated the power of the Leftist alliance if you think technology is why they are where they are now. A fatal mistake strategically. Plenty of people have made it, including the ones dead and buried in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Richard M. Nixon, there were a succession of Attorneys General who were willing to say, “take this job and shove it!” to the President, but there isn’t even one lowly US Attorney under this administration willing to do the same.
That’s because Nixon chose people with integrity. The Left uses something else.
No, Ymarsakar, it wasn’t that Richard Nixon chose people with integrity. He simply couldn’t avoid them.
Only today’s Democratic party is explicitly designed to ensure that no one with integrity rises to the top.
That’s why I say you are surprised, Steve. Since it’s easy to get that kind of surprise when you think Nixon’s fellow Democrats weren’t as corrupt and evil.
