Let’s try to get Carly Fiorina into the debates
Carly Fiorina may not end up being the Republican nominee, but she’s one of the most impressive candidates around in terms of her ability to respond to questions in a forthright and cogent manner, state conservative principles, and do it all with serenity and a smile while never shying away from pointed criticism of her opponents—and that includes the best way of dealing with the record of Hillary Clinton that I’ve seen.
And of course, in this age of identity politics, it would be good to have Fiorina on the debate stage as an example of a conservative Republican woman.
But she’s never held political office and has little name recognition. I keep mentioning her to people as someone to watch, and virtually no one has ever heard of her (I know a lot of LIVs). And yet I keep seeing comments all around the blogosphere from people who say the equivalent of “I had never heard of her before, but the more I listen to her the more I like her.”
So here’s my suggestion: send as many people as you think can stomach it a little blurb about her and a link to a short video showing her in action. You can choose you own video—there are many on YouTube. But I suggest this, this, this, or this.
I also suggest sending the email to liberals, too, as long as they’re not way on the left, and to any low information voters you know. Women are probably particularly good recipients, since I think many are interested in a woman candidate but aren’t as keen as they’d hoped to be about Hillary. Fiorina is the female anti-Hillary.
[ADDENDUM: And then there’s the old tried-and-true, donate money, as well as the Facebook “like.” Also, you might want to urge other people who like Carly to be part of the email campaign.]
Like Carly on Facebook. Then your FB friends see her FB posts and videos. She excels in FB like other media.
I also gave her money. The amount was small but if lots of people give her some money, the number of supporters in itself is a news story.
She is getting cable news air time. Roger Ailes wants her in the debate.
Cornhead:
Yes, I forgot those. I’ll add them.
Good idea Neo. I want to hear her speaking to a national audience.
I really hope that either Carly Fiorina or Ben Carson will be the VP nominee (I don’t think either has a real chance at POTUS). I think I favor Fiorina, with Carson in a key cabinet post. That is because she is a bit more dynamic and combative, and we need that. But, I will be satisfied with either.
Oldflyer:
Carly has staked out the traditional VP role as the main attacker of the other POTUS candidate. She has destroyed Hillary in her comments.
I saw Scott Walker, in person, in Iowa last week. Scott and Carly are the perfect good cop-bad cop team.
She’s been my favorite for a while but I’ve had quite a hard time convincing other conservatives to give her a fair shake. I don’t really understand why that is. Liberals aren’t going to consider her because their tribalism forbids it. Plus, she’s pro-life.
I agree that she needs to be heard in the debates, but she can’t seem to stay in the “top 10”. Maybe it’s time for a bunch of conservatives to play the gender card on Fox News? How to do it? Start a petition? Email campaign? Write to the Fox pundits and anchors? Contact Fox advertisers?
Carly’s got spunk!
Perhaps the last candidate the GOP wants in the debates, arguably even more than Trump… is Carly Fiorina. Her pointed and astute commentary on the issues and her opponents positions is anathema to a party hierarchy desperate to maintain the status quo. That equally applies to FOX, host of the debates, so her chances of an invite are miniscule.
I gave her 50 simply help her stay in the race. She is Palin with a smoother delivery system
If she’s not in the GOP debates, I’m done with the GOP forever.
I’m driving over to Iowa to see her on Friday.
I will write it up and submit it to Powerline. Check Powerline on Saturday.
snopercod:
Actually, it’s Fox News you should be done with, because it’s their decision at this point.
parker: good man.

I like that.

I love Palin, but that observation is right on.
Amen Neo. I’ve been trying to get people to look at Carly Firoina. Every time I show a clip of her to friends and family they really like her, but it doesn’t seem to get anywhere. I had done all the me crazy is I dont hear bad things about her.
If I may, my latest attempt to get her recognition was to fill out the polls you find while surfing websites. Maybe if her name starts appearing as top choice it will help get her some traction.
Sending vids and money. Go Carly!
It hurts her a great deal that she’s only run for office once, and she lost. That doesn’t strike some as the most obvious jumping-off point to then run for president.
She might be a great addition to the ticket as the vp candidate, and it’s possible this is the only way to put herself into that conversation.
AMEN, Neo. Carly and Bobby J. need to be heard. Both are hugely able, highly intelligent and(Important in our current Age)Verbally Nimble to the Max.
Jindal’s make it or break it opportunity came and went when he was the one designated to give the Republican response to Obama’s first State of the Union speech in 2009, an opportunity which he fumbled horribly. He may be a good guy who’s right on the issues, and a good governor, but he just doesn’t acquit himself well on a national stage.
G Joubert,
You’re talking about 2009. It is now 2015, six years later. Jindal’s stage presence has improved with time.
I want to see Carly on that candidate stage, no doubt about it. She, along with Trump, give the eGOPs a serious case of the vapors. Anyone who makes the RINO contingent upset is good with me. I also want to hear those RINOs explain their fecklessness when confronted by Truth, even if bombastic. If that bothers the eGOPs, too bad, so sad. RINOs were handed the House in 2010, but we were told they can’t do anything (ignoring their Constitutional ‘Power of the Purse’) because they were only 1/2 of 1/3 of government. We gave the RINOs the Senate in 2014, only to be told from the get-go that ‘impeachment is off the table’. That was bad enough, but to give everything Choom Boy wanted was beyond the pale; President Give Iran The Bomb doesn’t even have to veto any bills, which speaks volumes about the eGOPs being ‘an opposition party’. RINOs have created Fiorina and Trump by their steadfast refusal to take on President Hissy Fit and his policies. Now they want to make sure no one on a presidential candidate stage reminds anyone of their failures.
Fork ’em. If the eGOPs can’t take on Trump or Fiorina, then how will they ever take on Hillarity!?
