Reporting on sex abuse in Rotherham — 42 Comments

  1. Nolanimrod:

Yeah, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it conservative, at least not by US standards.

  2. The Brits can’t call a Muslim a Muslim.

When Muslims were rioting in Paris a few years back they were “youths.”

Ann Coulter wrote an entire chapter how the MSM refuses to note and identify how much crime is commited in America by illegal aliens.

This very week in Omaha, the OWH reported that “an Omaha man” was arrested for threatening to kill everyone at the Nebraska Humane Society. He also said he was going to join ISIS. He was made at the Humane Society because he had been cited by NHS for abuse of a cat.

The guy is charged with a felony and his name isn’t in the paper. Omaha man indeed.

  3. its ok, its a multicultural thing
and obama says we just dont understand islam
most of us have never met a muslim he says..

  4. Of course you must realize that using our own doctrine of Disparate Impact this report is racist and the very act of referring to it is racist. The statistics are racist, likewise the paper they’re printed on. And if you needed further confirmation of anti-Muslim bias just look! Arabic Numerals!

  5. The trouble with being PC is that you have to ignore reality and live in fantasy land. That can get you killed. It’s like the sophists in ancient Greece who believed that reality was just a matter of perception. The sophists in Athens decided that Philip of Macedon wasn’t really a bad guy and if they were friendly to him he would reciprocate. Alas, Philip took their friendly overtures as a sign of weakness and invaded.

  6. I think you’re overstating the “Asian = China, Japan, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, etc” connection. That’s a very North American connotation to the word. “Asian” in the UK almost always means from the Indian subcontinent.

I think it’s because that’s where the majority of immigrants comes from (probably thanks to history and the British Empire).

  7. The Weekly Standard had a long report about that entire shameful Rotterdam coverup of all those rapes.

  8. [The sex traffickers vaguely referred to as “Asian”] were actually almost entirely from one country: Pakistan. And they were almost entirely from one religious group as well: Muslims.

And when Brits figure out that “Asian” is actually codeword for “Pakistani Muslim,” the British MSM will have to move to an even more nebulous term, perhaps “Earthling.”

So an unknown but probably large number of girls suffered because of PC reluctance, …

I’m sure they’ll be consoled by the knowledge that they were raped on behalf of a good cause, the Great-and-Almighty Political Correctness.

  9. For many years, young girls, almost all white and from vulnerable backgrounds, have been targeted for abuse, degradation, and even torture by men almost all from South Asian Muslim communities, while Labour politicians, leftwing social workers and police officers fearful of being labelled racist colluded in covering up this unspeakably depraved behavior. It has occurred not only in Rotherham but in dozens of other British cities, and the number of victims is certainly thousands upon thousands, while no rational discussion of a policy allowing millions of uneducated and unassimilable third-world immigrants is possible. Britain, like Sweden and many other Western countries, seems intent on committing demographic suicide.

  10. From what I know, while not being an expert, Rohan V is correct. In standard British colloquial parlance, unlike here, Asian means Pakistani or Indian. So that part wasn’t meant to fool the public, since they know what that means. Why they can’t say Pakistani in this case, though, is an open question. That, I believe, is probably political correctness. And, obviously, the whole “We’ll just look the other way and pretend this horrible thing isn’t happening” response was political correctness run amok.

  11. Obey the police or else. As for the Americans that think the police is going to protect you…

  12. They call Muslims “Asians” for the same reason the Left uses “colored” and “African” to describe blacks.

  13. The Asian meme supports the everything’s copasetic in Islam meme that in its turn supports the nothing to see here meme. It can get worse, and routinely, in the EU, does. In Sweden, Julia Caesar (pen name), an author and journalist, tore into Sweden’s MSM when it had made the perps of the gang rape of a Swedish woman by eight Muslims (7 Somali, 1 Iraqi, – none of them Swedish citizens) all Swedes.

    Here, translated, the headlines:
Several Swedish men suspected of rape on Finland Ferry (Dagens Nyheter)
Six Swedish men raped woman in cabin (Aftonbladet)
Six Swedes arrested for rape on ferry (Expressen)
Eight Swedes suspected for ferry gang rape (TT)
All reporting stems from TT (The Newspapers’ Telegram Bureau), which the entire Swedish media subscribes to. Even in the Finnish media the suspects are called Swedes, like in this quote taken from Helsingfors Dagblad:
”According to Ekot the investigation will be transferred to Sweden, because all the men were Swedes.”

    Caesar:
The radio, State-owned Swedish Television (SVT), all the big newspapers and every little podunk paper screams out that Swedes have committed a gang rape on a Finland Ferry. The bells didn’t even ring in the newspaper offices when it turned out that the men needed a Somali interpreter during the detention in the Finnish district court.

Ms Caesar asks later in the post, asks:
Why do they do this? How can they hate the Swedish people so much that they lie to this extent? They are Swedes themselves?

And here you get at the crux of the matter. It’s not PoCo (as in loco) gone too far, it’s not a multi-cultural society they hanker after, it’s not vibrant diversity that want. It’s the end of Sweden. So great is their contempt for White, Christian, Westerners. so much do they see themselves as an abomination on the earth that they would rid the world of it by any means. The self-hatred is palpable throughout Western countries including the U S. This is as great a civilizational crisis as there had ever been. All others pale in comparison; all others had succumbed, to one degree or another, to the inertia of social entropy. Western civilization will have collapsed by a self-willed, self-administerd eradication.

If we will not call these people evil and react accordingly, perhaps it’s better we be put out of our misery. What chance has civilization in the hands of cowards? About the same as in the hands of diabolical evil — it just takes longer.

  14. The Brit vs. US usage of “Asian” is interesting – but what word would they use to collectively refer to persons from China, Japan, etc.?

  15. I’m from England and Asian is always used to refer to someone from the Indian sub continent and not someone from China or Japan over there. This is not some new PC thing but has been common usage for as long as I remember.

  16. Hm. British common usage of “Asian” is not normally the kind of thing that gets by Neo when it’s featured subject matter in a post.

  18. A couple of years ago my open source intel network reported certain details to me. That’s why this stuff in Britain didn’t surprise me. Since the Left are doing the same thing with Child Protective Services in Texas, California, etc.

Just look it up, if the MSM and Justice Department allows you to.

  19. It’s this kind of despicable behavior that hit me with the Cluebat in 2001:

Leftists/liberals don’t give a tinker’s damn about women’s rights, “rape culture,” or any of the rest that they’re always on about: they just use these issues to bash America, the West, Christendom, the Anglosphere.

    Utterly despicable.

  20. London Trader, have the English been talking about it at all amongst themselves? Is the atrocity widely known?

This also demonstrates the stranglehold that Leftism and Groupthink have on the mind — people even abandon their defenseless little daughters to the depredations of these fiends. Staggering. And that female professor who made the news yesterday (American) saying she hates her own race so much that she refuses to have white children.

Good thing, that: she’d probably sell them to the Pakis.

  21. Hey, at least they didn’t identify the 300 as being mostly from Earth.

  22. And, it is very telling how powerful the PC hold is when even The Telegraph can’t quite bring itself to be honest with the facts. I would love to have been a fly on the wall when the decision to use “Asian” was made. Was there any debate at all?

  23. Beverly, I can’t answer that as I’ve been in the US since 2001, first NY and now Atlanta.

  24. Yancey Ward, see previous comments regarding British usage of the word Asian.

  25. I would love to have been a fly on the wall when the decision to use “Asian” was made.

Then you’d love Tim Blair’s take on a similar issue in Australia. He highlights crime reports for crimes committed by “men of no appearance.” Whenever a crime is reported in local media and a physical description is conspicuously absent he puts it in this category. Almost invariably it means the suspect is (to use the term that seems to be common in Australia) of Middle Eastern appearance. He’s actually had posts showing police reports or witness reports with that description but by the time it gets to the newspapers those words mysteriously disappear. But the rest is quoted directly, word for word. So it’s no accident. They just drop the description without notice.

  26. Here’s one example:

    Men of no appearance

As published in the Sydney Morning Herald:

The three men involved in the attack were described to police as having dark “mullet-style” hair cuts.

One was believed to be aged 20 to 25, 170 centimetres tall and clean shaven, police said.

As written in the source police report:

Police are seeking three men described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, with dark “mullet-style” hair cuts. One of the men is believed to be 20 to 25-years-old, 170cm tall and clean shaven.

    Abracadabra!

  27. I don’t buy for a moment that lefties are self hating. They love Islam because they love what Islam stands for raw power through violence and sexual exploitation of vulnerable women and men. Lefties don’t care about the thousands of girls who have been abused because they believe things like this will happen to someone else’s daughter, one of the little expendable little people, but will never affect their own little butter cups.

When the left cry about the need for women’s rights and equality their are being completely honest with one exception. They care a great deal about their own rights but yours not so much. The Western left are truly evil on the same plain as Stalin, Hitler and Mao except they haven’t yet had to opportunity to act out on their malignant narcissism. If they ever have the opportunity they will gladly kill anyone who they perceive as a threat to their absolute power.

  28. Yesterday I used the word “perverts” for the first time in my life (being a former polite and understanding “liberal”).

Today I say it loud and clear, “We are being pushed around and manipulated by PERVERTS.”

Let’s take back our English language and clear thinking abilities. What should we do if our political system and the mass media is run by PERVERTS? An open, forthright, and logical discussion is needed.

I guess tomorrow I’ll have to use the word “EVIL.”

I’m being a bit snarky here, but I’m serious. What can we do to stop the victory of perversion and evil in our public culture? I have my ideas, but they can’t be written publicly.

  29. It is all rather counter-productive. We have learnt to decode and therefore assume that Asian means Muslim and if no colour is mentioned, then the criminals are black.

  30. London Trader wrote (6/24 @7:34pm):

I’m from England and Asian is always used to refer to someone from the Indian sub continent and not someone from China or Japan over there. This is not some new PC thing but has been common usage for as long as I remember.

Perhaps this is not a “new PC thing,” but it is PC nonetheless. The key issue here is not whether “Asian” refers to the eastern part of the largest continent (US usage), or if it refers “merely” to the Indian subcontinent–still a vast area (~1.5 million square miles), containing India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Maldives (and possibly Afghanistan if “South Asia” is what is meant).

What makes the British usage of “Asian” politically correct here is that it muddies the waters, deliberately obscuring the identity of most of the sex traffickers through the use of a hazy, ambiguous term: Were these men Hindus from India or Nepal, Buddhists from Sri Lanka or Bhutan, Muslims from Bangladesh, India or Pakistan–or some other?

We can’t tell that “they were almost entirely” Pakistani Muslims due to the use of the equivocal, obfuscating term “Asian”–the British version, meaning “Indian subcontinent.” So Neo’s original point about the PC use of “Asian” is correct, and Yancy Ward’s comment (6/24 @9:40pm) stands as is.

  31. Promethea: You’ve got a good start. Use pre-PC words, words which are historically accurate, words which the great majority of people know. Such as “Negro” (gasp!). Instead of “challenged,” maybe “dumb.” Yes, you’ll anger Liberals. It’s fun to watch their heads explode.

  32. What can we do to stop the victory of perversion and evil in our public culture?

Death is the only power able to wipe the slate clean at this point. Reform may have been feasible, last century or so, but most patriots are decades if not centuries behind the Left’s war mobilization. In a war, people don’t get free time to “build up the army” when the barbarians are at the gates.

  33. It isn’t just Muslim men. Two UK Muslim women were arrested for facilitation of gang rape. The women are part of the problem too. They view any non-Muslim as sub-human.

  34. Of course they are part of the problem, they belong to the same hierarchy. They serve a subordinate role, but also an important one in enforcing cultural guidelines.
