Democrats stand by their woman
They’ll stick with Hillary, because she’s the only candidate they’ve got:
“She’s a bad mama-jama,” said Kiendra, 36, a librarian. “She’s a strong, competent woman. She knows what she’s doing. She’s not afraid to step up. She’s not afraid to take advice and she’s not afraid to say, ”˜No, I don’t want to do it that way. I’m going to do it this way.’”
Kiendra rejected any suggestion that Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, think they can operate by a different set of rules from other people. “I think they just play the game well,” she said.
“She’s not perfect,” said Charlie, 24, a graphic designer. “She’s been in the eye for a long time, in the public’s eye, and you’re going to have some stuff on her. But she has great policies and she knows how to get stuff done.”
“There’s definitely some trust issues there,” added Bill, 55, a chef. “But like everybody else has said, her record pretty much speaks for itself. She is eminently qualified to run this country, and I think she’d probably do a pretty good job.”
Cynicism combined with party loyalty combined with desperation at the thought of the lack of other candidates produces the type of reasoning you see above. Hillary is now the “what difference does it make” candidate. People don’t like her, but I guess (as Obama so famously said) that she’s “likeable enough” for Democrats, who cite her accomplishments but can’t name any.
It seems having had a number of titles is good enough. After all, she’s had more of them than Obama had when he was elected president, right? And look how well that’s gone:
While the group agreed that Clinton possessed the experience and policy positions required to be elected president, the participants were less confident when it came to naming the former secretary of state’s actual accomplishments.
“I really can’t name anything off the top of my head,” said Ryan, the event planner.
Following a brief silence, a 22-year-old student named Amanda added, “I honestly can’t say I followed along [with] everything that was going on.”
I believe that is probably a very honest statement.
[NOTE: I couldn’t resist the title of this post; I think that’s the main reason I decided to write it.
In case you need a memory refresh:
Interesting to watch that now, isn’t it?]

U.S. Weighing Punishments for Russia’s Nuclear Violations
Turns out they been ignoring it for 28 years and rather than dismantle things and keep the treaty (something they never do), they have instead taken our money and aid, and built lots more nuclear missiles, didnt destroy the ones they should have, let us remove ours, and built up the 400 sq mile yamentau mountain…
WHY?
no reason… maybe these are shovel ready
Admiral James “Sandy” Winnefeld, the outgoing vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told an audience Tuesday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies that Russia continues to violate the 1987 agreement, which banned both the U.S. and Russia from developing or deploying nuclear weapons with a range between 500 and 5,500 kilometers. The treaty was the first nuclear arms agreement to reduce the number of nuclear weapons.
28 years…
how will obama and hillary handle this?
Daisy Daisy give me your answer true…

Squirrel Hill Democrats stand behind deceased councilwoman in election battle
http://www.post-gazette.com/local/city/2015/05/15/Squirrel-Hill-Democrats-stand-behind-deceased-councilwoman-in-election-battle/stories/201505150159
“Democracy is the word with which you must lead them by the nose…You then make a stealthy transition in their minds from this political ideal to a factual belief that all men are equal.
…[This then leads to the patient] resent[ing] every kind of superiority in others; denigrates it; wishes its annihilation. Presently he suspects every mere difference of being a claim to superiority. No one must be different from himself in voice, clothes, manners, recreations, choice of food.….‘If they were the right sort of chaps they’d be like me. They’ve no business to be different. It’s undemocratic.’
…What I want to fix your attention on is the vast, overall movement towards the discrediting, and finally the elimination, of every kind of human excellence—moral, cultural, social, or intellectual…..For ‘democracy’ or the ‘democratic spirit’ (diabolical sense) leads to a nation without great men…morally flaccid from lack of discipline in youth….and soft from a lifelong pampering. And that is what Hell wishes ever democratic people to be. (The Screwtape Letters, 198, 199, 201, 206)
neo, have you ever read the screwtape letters?
That Tammy Wynette quote has always pissed me off because Tammy Wynette would have left Bill’s ass in the dust for all his bullshit.
her record pretty much speaks for itself
Her record includes zero actual accomplishments aside from getting elected on her husbands name.
More popcorn!
We are having a crisis of competence in our ‘ruling elite.’ Years ago the perception was that women and blacks were passed over unfairly. Now they are promoted not based on merit but because they are ‘entitled.’ The results are predictable. We get shameless incompetent leaders like Obama, Holder, Pelosi, Hillary, Sebelius, Napolitano, and Rice. Is there a competent woman or black person in a position of power in the dem party?
Ideologues. That’s why they’ll “stick with her”.
Kiendra and Charlie: the Sheeple have spoken!
“They’ll stick with Hillary, because she’s the only candidate they’ve got:” neo
Justification: “she has great policies and she knows how to get stuff done.” Charlie, 24, a graphic designer
Rationalization: “She is eminently qualified to run this country, and I think she’d probably do a pretty good job.” Bill, 55, a chef
IMO, it’s not that she’s the only candidate or even the only female candidate they’ve got. It’s that she supports the “great policies”, i.e. the world view that they support. That will be true of any nominee, even if they choose another candidate with the qualifications of a dog catcher, like Obama.
Here’s the deal for those voters that think that she is not that corrupt or that she is “their” crook: How do they know that she won’t double cross them and sell them out for a better deal?
When people talk about Hillary being strong and competent, I want to ask what has she done.
Exactly, nothing.
Of course, that question presents problems for all liberals.
Still, I think it is hilarious that the people who worship Hillary look down on Sarah Palin who had actual accomplishments.
Bill and Hill. I am currently reading Whittaker Chamber’s Witness. Alger Hiss was known as Hill or Hilly among his friends. According to Chambers, members of the Ware group, the group of Communists and fellow travelers in the federal government of which Alger Hiss was a prominent member, referred to Alger and his wife Priscilla as “Hilly and Dilly.”
“I think it is hilarious that the people who worship Hillary look down on Sarah Palin who had actual accomplishments.”
I also think so – that SP had gotten all the way up in local politics, without having been the spawn or the spouse of an established pol … and apparently had very high approval ratings as governor of Alaska, not a shred of corruption … and basically gets destroyed by the Establishment GOP and the media generally … whereas a corrupt, talentless, unfeeling hack like Hillary ought to have her “turn” just because …
Actually, I think the fact that she is so accomplish might be the reason they hate her. She’s living proof their attitude and beliefs are not as effective as they believe. It goes against there sense of superiority.
Back in 2008, McCain was the old, tired guy who compared unfavorably to the young, handsome Obama.
I’m predicting no such comparisons this time when the “old guy” is a Dem and a Woman!
I think a Rubio/Clinton matchup would be fascinating. It would completely turn the tables from 2008.
neo stated (yesterday) that Hillary is in this to win, and that HC believes that she (HC) will be the next president.
Rush stated (today) in effect the same thing, noting that HC has 230 electoral votes now and always, plus 47% who will vote for her regardless of anything.
Those are two buckets of ice cold water poured over my wishful thinking that maybe HC will just go away. Alas.
I saw these three clips of Ted Cruz being feisty with the media, and thought this is a man who can deal with Hillary. You can hear his intelligence in his choice of words and his fluency – –
http://therightscoop.com/boom-ted-cruz-slams-the-media-for-being-obsessed-with-sex/
The clips are somewhat repetitive but watch all three for full effect. Cruz (to my ears) has perfect pitch, not just for the anti-Hillary crowd, but also for many non-ideological Americans.
His point is to do a much more subtle, almost imperceptible “in your face” to the media than Newt, something which comes across not as mean or brittle, but as common-sensible.
Every year around this time my optimism starts to grow about the Buffalo Bills. I really can’t help it. And it lasts until mid-season or so, until it is obvious (undeniable) they are not the team it seemed like they could be. And all the cold-eyed analysts were right.
It’s a bad analogy. But I look at Cruz and think (hope), this is the guy who can do it. Rubio is smart, but Cruz is smarter, plus Cruz actually inspires confidence in me that he understands what is going on.
Reading the above, I recall an account of an exchange between a candidate and a constituent. I don’t recall who it was.
Constituent: “Sir, I just want you to know you’re the thinking person’s candidate.”
Candidate: “Thank you. Unfortunately I need a majority.”
Why, oh why, when my ancestors got on the boat from Italy didn’t they choose New Zealand?
A dominant leader might have saved America decades ago. But like Rome, putting in good leaders for a broken system that kills everyone that tries to change the system, isn’t going to do much.
Hillary’s in it to win, but she won’t. It’s already a done deal.

Said candidate was Adlai Stevenson, I do believe.
