Just another example of the incredible bias against conservatives by the MSM.
And cumulatively it works over the long term.
So does Halperin’s interview make it OK to demand that Obama eat some fried chicken and watermelon to prove his racial bona fides? It would appear to be about the same level of stereotyping.
How many times did the MSM uses the phrase “compelling life story” as a euphemism for Obama’s ethnic background? They could not get enough of his “compelling life story!”
This is their template for ethnic Democrats – that this makes them more authentic, more qualified to discuss their favorite issues.
In addition to not knowing how to discuss ethnicity with a guy who doesn’t parade his Cuban roots at every opportunity, I imagine Halperin wanted desperately to void Cruz’s ethnicity as an advantage over the Dem’s white candidates – Hillary, Bernie and O’Malley. If only he could claim “He can’t speak Spanish, can’t name a favorite Cuban food!” in order to disprove Cruz’s ethnicity, and reinforce his whiteness.
Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time.
Yeah, neo, I and all your readers know what you mean when you use the adjective “cringeworthy” here. It *ought* to induce cringes in people who one would think might know better — a lot better.
For me, as well as for (I imagine) most readers of this blog, the incident induces not cringes but confirmation. And not some epiphany type confirmation, with a light bulb over the head, but a tired, “tell me somethin’ I don’t already know” type confirmation.

I am surprised Halperin did not ask Cruz if he drove a vintage low rider car with fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror. Dear Lord that was so blatantly racist it was embarrassing!!! Cruz should use clips from this in an ad that contrasts the media’s treatment of Dems vs Republicans. Where is LaRaza on this? … oh yeah….they will not be defending a R because they are on the Dem payroll.
La Raza is on the Cartel’s payroll too, I suspect. And since they both engage in human trafficking and selling, that makes them natural Islamic Jihad allies too, if they could learn to work through the cultural and language issues.
