Attack at a Mohammed cartoon contest in Texas — 34 Comments

  1. The death squads have been incubated and are ready to be released, as predicted.

  2. Geert Wilders was there, too.

The attendees sang patriotic songs while they were locked in the building and the police worked to clear the area of terrorist threats.

Geller and Wilders are very brave.

  3. Has the DoJ *cough* come down on them for their insensitivity yet? I do note that the FBI held everyone until they could filter through all their paperwork, electronic data, and put them on some list or other. Is DHS going to investigate the attendees as well, or are they leaving that to the FBI? Do not expect a warm and fuzzy from the alphabets, big city police chiefs or prosecutors, or even Republican pols.

  4. I can’t help but think the jihadists made a monumental mistake by choosing TEXAS to start their assault.

My home state has not yet fallen to political correctness and dhimmitude, despite the festering cancer in Austin.

  5. Logan D Says:

“I can’t help but think the jihadists made a monumental mistake by choosing TEXAS to start their assault.”

Texas is a prime target of the left in their attempts to win permanent power through demographic manipulation. Importing millions of Muslims into Texas to overwhelm the Bible Belt Christians is part of their plan. They are already talking about turning Texas blue. Once they seize Texas the leftist revolution will be complete. America as we knew it will be no more. Unfortunately the Hispanics of Texas are as patriotic as the gringos and have not swung Texas to the left. The left needs a new group to win Texas for themselves – Muslims.

They are succeeding in their demographic manipulation. Texas is about as heavily infested with Muslims, probably worse so, than any other state. Texas is the first state to have its own Sharia courts. We all know about the unfortunate incidence of “work place violence” which took place at Fort Hood, Texas, by a Muslim man shouting alluah akbar. This new incident is just the latest installment of the alliance between the left and Islamists trying to intimidate Texans. Will they succeed? Absolutely not do long as the rest of Texans remember their own God – the God who loves us so much that He is willing to put up with our mistakes and even our crimes in order to protect our freedom of the will. So no, Texans are not intimidated by either the left or by Islamists.

  6. I highly recommend this speech from Lars Vilk in Finland last month. First sentence is in suomi, but the rest is english spoken.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2no5PL30Ek

Lars Vilk is a norwegian cartoonist aimed in the recent terrorist attacks in Danmark.

He talks about how he has been banned from public speaking in Norway and Sweden. Even when he is not politically banned, people is so afraid of consequences that he’s banned in practice. Here he’s speaking in a True Finnish center, which is labelled as “far-right”. Before that he could speak in front of some students, but university students should make a contribution to rent a place outside of the University and to pay the insurance.

It’s interesting how the same Universities that denounce “far-right violence” vs the peaceful islam are not afraid to host leftish speeches while they are really afraid of terrorist attacks in case they host a speech critical of Islam.

  7. Look at where we have arrived after 9/11: Hollywood will no longer use terrorists from Muslin majority countries as the bad guys, CAIR can get into the White House more easily than a protestant church group, Lesbian Rabbis in Philadelphia side with CAIR over ads pointing out the comparison of radical Islam to Hitler. You would think it would be the opposite. I have to admit that I am dismayed by the direction this is all going and it has never been more evident to me how powerful the 4th estate is … they shape the majority of public opinion and have basically convinced many people that the fact this cartoon contest was even held is a wrong choice. They have conflated all criticism of Islam to yelling fire in a crowded theatre.

  8. You know the last thing the MSM wanted to do was talk about this free speech event. But thanks to the predictable violence from Muslims, they might be forced to. The interests of Muslim supremacy would have been better served if Muslims simply let this event alone.

  9. I would agree with Cantinflas if we were not ruled by the left. As it is, the best things the Muslims can do to promote Islam is to show that they are violent since the left loves violence when it is directed against Western Civilization. In their eyes, the fact that Islam is violent proves that Islam is a legitimate representative of the World’s oppressed brown and black people.

After 911 I spent considerable time studying Islam. There were Muslim web sites even then who were thrilled about how much interest they had detected in Islam after 911 and how much better it was for Islamic dawa after the event.

  10. “Johnny Roby of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was attending the conference. He told the AP he was outside the building when he heard around about 20 shots that appeared to be coming from the direction of a passing car.

“Roby said he then heard two single shots. He said he heard officers yell that they had the car before he was sent inside the building.”

The above came from the MSN online lead article. If it turns out to be accurate, that doesn’t sound like typical city police work. Two shots and two dead perps? That sounds more like sniper work. I wonder who was pulling her security.

    Waidmann

  11. Waidmann,
From what I’ve learned from the reading I have done I agree with your conclusion. Doesn’t sound like typical police spraying gunfire in an area and lucky enough to get two hits. The shooters here almost certainly had some training.

  12. Alas, there is humor to be found in this anecdote.

The contest attracted more than 100 entries for the best cartoon depiction of the Prophet, Moohamed.

    THE WINNER?

A former muslim won the grand prize and took home $12,500. for having done so.

A friend of mine asked me, If he’s NOT muslim, what is he now?
I replied: “A bit wealthier, and a whole lot smarter.”

  13. “A bit wealthier, and a whole lot smarter.”…

    He’ll pay the price.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali was denied protection in the US.

  14. Apparently it was a Garland Police officer with a service weapon that put the terrorist down. I’m surprised. Excellent shooting given the circumstances.

  15. Pam being put on the hot seat.

I say, this Alysin Camerota creature has deep 50 Shades of Grey longings ….

Hmmm … 50 Shades of Grey author E.L. James–Snowqueens Icedragon to her fans–is purportedly making an estimated $1.34 million a week off her quaint little country romance novel.
It is complicated isn’t it Alysin …

  16. So far it appears that these terrorists really were lone wolves acting impulsively. Had it been a more organized and professional attack it might have ended differently. IMO it is highly probable that terrorist cells have already infiltrated across our southern border. Of far more concern is what they may be planning. ISIS has thousands of MANPADS, if they bring some in through commercial shipping containers, they can bring down passenger jets at takeoff and landing. Future ‘Mumbai style’ shopping mall attacks seem likely. But as horrific as these types of attacks would be, they pale in comparison to the vulnerability of our electrical grid.

“In an April 2013 probing action, unknown terrorists attacked the Pacific Gas & Electrics transmission substation in Metcalf, California. One terrorist crawled into an underground vault to cut the telephone lines for help. Then a squad of gunmen fired more than 100 shots and knocked out 17 transformers. The shooters took their time, blasting away for almost a whole hour, before police finally showed up and the terrorists melted away. The attack caused millions of dollars in damage and required 27 days before the small transformers were replaced and back online.”

Just a year ago, a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission “study concluded that coordinated attacks on only nine electrical transmission substations in the United States could bring down the entire trinity of grids (called interconnections) that supply electricity to America. Terrorists would have to physically destroy only four in the East, three the West and two in Texas, plus one large transformer production plant, and the entire United States grid would be down for at least 18 months, probably longer, said the memo.

Imagine what that would mean for a nation entirely dependent upon electricity for its very survival. Almost all large transformers are constructed overseas, including China, and the typical lag time from order to delivery and installation is two years. Forget no iPhones. Try no working sewer systems, no heating, no cars (because no gasoline pumps), no transportation, no garbage collection, no hospitals, no medicine kept in cold storage, no working government, and no civilization.” http://www.frontpagemag.com/2015/christopher-s-carson/a-mad-max-nation-with-no-electrical-grid/

To accomplish this, all a terrorist group like ISIS needs is enough terrorist cells in the US, a modest amount of money, sufficient explosives and some discipline.

  17. As GB notes, a society dependent on the electrical grind and a digital infrastructure is a fragile system. The savage fanatical leaders of jihad are well aware of our vulnerabilities. Sooner rather than later, they will act upon their knowledge of our frailty.

  18. parker…

THAT particular grid served the NSA’s western node.

One of the key reasons for the slow response was that the NSA had such redundancies that they weren’t quick to the phone.

    (!)

The NSA connection aspect of THAT story is largely suppressed.

It is the reason why after all of those transformers went dark the whole neighborhood didn’t go dark. They were (almost) all feeding the NSA campus.

It was a test of the emergency response system.

One thing it revealed was that the NSA has such redundancies that it doesn’t need outside power at all.

The (electrical) design is an echo of Crystal Palace, a location that didn’t need outside power, either.

BOTH are designed for atomic war, BTW.

  19. GB…

    That’s my industry…

And I have yet to see a SINGLE non-American utility transformer.

Hard as it is to believe: the nation’s utilities practically don’t care what transformers cost. They get to pass on their entire cost to their rate base… and always have.

Most Poco contracts specify that the components used be American made — ALL of them.

They’d have labor (IBEW) kick-back to beat the band if they started foreign sourcing transformers — all built by IBEW troopers.

Various Buy American legislation also makes it impossible for American power companies to foreign source components.

It’s a BIG DEAL when the occasional German machine is imported. (from Siemens: wind power — sole global source for said prototype….)

    %%%%%%%%%

    The units described are mis-described.

The trick, hard to build inter-tie gear always involves synchronous transformers/ synchronous capacitors.

Despite the terminology, these are titanic rotating alternators that free wheel (no load) to generate Reactive Power for the grid. This requirement swings up and down — constantly — and is most acute right at major grid inter-ties.

The general public thinks that these gizmos are TRANSFORMERS like they see all over town. They are NOT.

They look and are built identical to the largest alternators you’d ever see at any hydro-electric plant. They are slow to build precisely because they represent the state-of-the-art in alternator design — just about every single time one is built.

When they are lost, the system simply runs without them.

Which means that the inter-tie is broken. It’s no longer possible to shift power across the time zones on a wholesale basis.

    And that’s about it.

The rest of the system just keeps on clicking — just like it did those decades before these grand inter-ties were built up.

Inter-connections of this scale didn’t really take off until the 70’s.

Famously, one of the proto-type inter-ties ‘blew up’ back in 1967 and blackened out the greater northeastern US.

    The nation did not die.

However, nine months later the maternity wards of New England were fully booked.

  20. GB …

The REAL threat is RETAIL power distribution.

The brainiacs in charge have permitted encryption-free digital meters to be installed by the MILLION across our land.

These can be EASILY cracked by an iPhone and an app.

    (North Korean import?)

Then you’d have absolute chaos as the various power companies raced around town un-hacking meter after meter.

As I type this, the industry is trying to clean up this fiasco.

It will require total re-metering across the nation. There can be no software fix.

I’d expect that to save on money that the various digital meters are being pulled, rebuilt with better chips and ROM, and then sent right back out into service.

Still, that’s a LOT of meters.

Similar epic gaps exist in other digital systems.

0-care has to be at the top of the list.

It’s a digital Pearl Harbor — and goes unsaid.

  21. Blert,

Despite the redundancies; they eventually run out of water, food, and fuel and must come out of their bunkers. Target rich environments are in our future. Be prepared for an event horizon 5 years out. 😉

  22. My first prediction was US Civil War II (or WWIII if one thinks Islam will intercede for the Left) in 50 years if nothing is done to break the back of the Leftist alliance in 2007.

Second prediction was, Civil War II within 15 years, accelerated program, if Hussein gets re-elected on 2012.

So we’re fast approaching that little event horizon there, at the outer limit of 2027. If the Left mobilizes more than 40% of their actual power, it might be sooner. Once the Left mobilizes 100% of their power, they will either win or they will lose, having no reserves left to commit.

Of course currently the Left has only mobilized 10-15% of their power. In 2008, it was merely about 1-2%. 1 to 2% was all anyone in the Common masses knew about what was going on.

  23. Once the Left mobilizes 100% of their power, they will either win or they will lose, having no reserves left to commit….

They might encounter all kinds of unexpected will to fight Sausage war.

  24. I keep reading these stories about how the grid is unprotected. 14 years after 9/11, wouldn’t it have been a good idea to have fixed that?

  25. blert,

What you appear to be saying is that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission study that concluded that coordinated attacks on only nine electrical transmission substations in the United States could bring down the entire trinity of grids (called interconnections) that supply electricity to America is either incompetently mistaken or intentionally lying. Is that so?
