Obamacare’s other unintended consequences
Apparently as a consequence of Obamacare, the mentally ill are finding it more difficult to get treatment.
And it makes sense why it should be that way, as you’ll find out if you read the article.
[NOTE: I’ve written about the origins of the deinstitutionalization movement here.]
Obamacare is not about and was never about health or care or affordability.
It is about political power and controlling the masses.
Obama and all Dems without exception are tyrants in their hearts. They are only doing what any decent tyrant would do, and that is 100% all they care about.
Tyrant: A person who seizes absolute power in a State without legal right…
Any Democrat: “We do what we want, when we want it, and laws and fairness and Constitutions or virtues are of no concern whatsoever. You oppose us we will destroy you.”
This thought is always and everywhere in a Dem only either conscious or subconscious. It is never absent ever.
A case of which I am very well briefed is that of our daughter. She has been a practicing psychologist for 18 years. She started with a publicly funded company who took mostly Medicaid and Medicare patients. After five years there she began a small practice on the side. It grew nicely and she left the company to be an independent psycho-therapist ten years ago. Her clients were about 25% who paid out of pocket and 75% who had insurance. The insurance reimbursements were less than what she charged, but she was seeing enough people to pay her overhead and enough to live on. All was well until two years ago. She now has about 20% fewer clients who have insurance. All because, with the new co-pays and deductibles, more people are foregoing counseling. People who could benefit from her expertise can no longer afford it because of Obamacare.
She has never been a liberal, but in the last two years she has become much more conservative as she has seen what liberal policies do to people’s lives.
JJ,
Eyes open when one experiences the damage done by the district of crminals on a personal basis.
Good intentions without a foundation. Perhaps part and parcel of preying on intrinsic value. We’ll see if Americans can do better.
At some point someone, somewhere, at some time is going to comprehend that many mentally ill people have suffered viral attacks upon their brain.
Rabies is a virus — and famously able to cross through the blood-brain membrane that (largely) excludes bacteria from the brain. [ There are DNA strands even smaller than the typical virus that can get across the membrane — but because of their extremely small size these pathogenic sequences are not understood at this time. ]
Rabies famously causes the victim to function insanely. However, since it is so lethal, nature thwarts wide propagation in humanity.
There are countless variations on the rabies virus — that also dement the brain — but are not lethal. They come off as a mild virus/ common cold.
THIS mechanism is the primary reason why so many people have mental health trauma.
Until MRI imaging, discovery of the brain trauma had to await autopsy.
MRI is STILL so expensive that it’s not used universally for mental trauma victims.
Instead, the profession normally tries to talk the victim past their injury, in which case, mental illnesses are getting the kind of care normally seen in the Seventeenth Century for epidemics.
It’s normally to be expected that should a virus damage a victim that every other rational on this earth will be proffered by the medical profession.
Something like this ‘logic’ was (recently) seen with ulcers. Right through most of the Twentieth Century the medical profession was self convinced that most ulcers were due to psychological issues — such a stress/ worries — and that was that.
The profession was able to look past MILLIONS of autopsies that evidenced H. Pylori running rampant in the stomachs — because of the power of the alternate explanation.
This paralysis is fully in evidence where viral damage to the brain is concerned.
You just about NEVER read of a psychiatrist referring a patient for an MRI on the brain.
You just about NEVER read of a psychiatrist pouring over ones medical history looking for viral infections/ periods of bed-ridden illness… and so forth.
It never enters their head.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Which was famously translated as:
“Invisible things are insane.”
What was funny, then, now seems amazingly apt. (!)
blert, check out Dr. Daniel Amen. He does single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scans to find damage to brain cells.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Amen
He is roundly criticized by most psychiatrists as a “quack and charlatan.” Yet, he has helped people when others weren’t successful. I know of one case personally.
JJ…
Infamously, Little Boots – aka Caligula — went freaking insane after a nearly lethal virus that had him bed ridden to the edge of death.
Just how crazy, crazy can get is in the Roman archives.

Tardy life mental illness should start out presumed to be the result of a viral infection… physical brain trauma… or drug use. (same difference)
I know from personal observation (family and cousins) that meth causes life long paranoia and strange and twisted driving behavior. The afflicted self conjure pursuing demons — and drive accordingly.
I once witnessed an obvious drug induced paranoia on the 680 freeway — while driving with the traffic at 79 mph. Both north bound lanes were rocketing along — and crowded too — not withstanding the velocity. (The slow lane was doing 75 mph.)
Low and behold, a Japanese pick-up with Nevada plates has left the asphalt to drive in the number “0” lane. (ie the dirt between the cyclone fencing and the pavement.) It’s Mad Max revisited! He pulls on ahead — without collision — doing an astounding 93 mph — which must constitute the maximum power of his machine. As he passed by he was screaming curses and waving hands at all and every as he jolted by.
That’s what happens when 70 mph just won’t do!

Severe mental illness should almost always have organic brain evidence. It’s our general medical ignorance that blinds us as to what to look for — in the rare event that a scan is even performed.
&&&&&&&
The brain has coping mechanisms for logical damage to its structure — failing memories and all the rest.
This attribute must not lull us into believing that mental crutches have eliminated the original brain malady.
Until brain scans are routine — for mental issues — especially intense paranoia — we’ll never develop the base line to finger print the injured.
One must hope that the brain equivalent to insulin can be given to ameliorate many brain traumas.

Don’t even get me started on the other magnum blind spots in modern medicine: fungal infections, DNA fragments embedded in cartilage, and S L O W bacteria.
Suffice it to say that about HALF of all lower back injuries can be cured with a sustained prescription of common antibiotics.
The kicker is that the treatment has to be maintained for ten to fifteen times as long as modern medicine thinks you should be receiving ANY antibiotic.
The profession has many kooky ideas about how antibiotics ought to be handled — other than they should only trade after the doctors get their ‘cut.’ (A visit and a prescription)
All this in a world where antibiotics are fed to cattle and pigs by the gallon, and where all other nations are handing them out like Chicklets. (!)
The fact that some government officials are literally insane, and that the aforesaid insanity has been induced in them by agents of influence working for a hostile foreign power, is nowhere discussed or suspected. People are so ignorant regarding the existence of agents of influence, and the work they do, that the subject rarely comes up in any context. — Nyquist
Good intentions is a cheap excuse the ignorant use to justify their own lack of awareness concerning human nature.
Blert, that’s why natural oils are great for boosting the body’s immune and healing systems. And there’s no absolute government limit on how much you can buy, use, or sell, similar to unregulated martial arts.
