Two NYC police ambushed and killed by gunman: looking forward, looking back
When I read the news of the murder of NYPD Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu by shooter Ismaaiyl Brinsley as they sat in their police car, it had a sickening familiarity.
If you’re as old as I am, and especially if you’re from New York, you remember.
You remember that in the early 70s a war against police began, a war in which police were gunned down by cold-blooded killers with a racial/political agenda and a convict past. The assailants were members of various black militant groups, mostly offshoots of the Black Panthers, such as the Black Liberation Army (BLA), which specialized in racially-motivated cop killings.
It was almost inevitable that the furor against police officers that’s been whipped up over the Brown and Garner deaths would end in some person or persons deciding that killing a cop would be just the thing. Whether Brinsley was crazy or not—and he may have been—and a lone wolf or not, even crazy people can be sparked to violence by an atmosphere of orchestrated hatred.
There is also evidence that Brinsley was not a lone wolf, however, but instead may have been a member of a group known as the Black Guerrilla Family. The Family shares similar antecedents with the BLA, including a prison genesis and a stated leftist/socialist/Marxist philosophy.
Probably the most famous police officer ambush case was that of partners and Vietnam vets Gregory Foster and Rocco Laurie, which occurred in January of 1972. Witnesses and an investigation indicated that they were shot in the back by BLA members as the officers walked down the street on their beat, and then shot again multiple times as they lay dying and the murderers had grabbed their service revolvers. The murders of Foster and Laurie caused a furor because they were part of a war on police, but also because both were well-liked, young, handsome, left young grieving wives and a great deal of fear in the NYPD, and because they were good friends and an interracial team (Foster was black and Laurie white). There was a 1974 book and a 1975 movie about the heinous crime, and although there were suspects (some of which have died or been killed in the ensuing years), no one has ever been tried for their murders.
The atmosphere today resembles the feeling that was in the air back in the early 70s, and that is most definitely not a good thing. This mood could be felt building and building prior to the murder of Ramos and Liu, and the fear is that it will keep on building. Today, unlike in the 70s, even our leadership—and by that I mean Barack Obama (who consorts with the likes of Al Sharpton), Eric Holder, Bill de Blasio, for example—fans the flames of the hatred in ways subtle and not-so-subtle.
The NY police have certainly noticed the similarity in atmosphere:
The first assassination of an NYPD officer since the 1988 ambush of Edward Byrne has rattled the rank-and-file ”” and prompted cops to adopt drastic “wartime” policing tactics not seen since the 1970s.
“At least two units are to respond to EVERY call, no matter the condition or severity, no matter what type of job is pending, or what the opinion of the patrol supervisor happens to be,” an e-mail widely circulated among cops advised Saturday night.
…The memo also pointed to potential slowdowns in arrest and ticketing activity: “IN ADDITION: Absolutely NO enforcement action in the form of arrests and or summonses is to be taken unless absolutely necessary and an individual MUST be placed under arrest,” the statement said.
“These are precautions that were taken in the 1970s when police officers were ambushed and executed on a regular basis,” the statement added.
The police remember.
RIP Foster and Laurie, and all the other police officers killed in action by those determined to murder them:
The democrat coalition is composed various victims groups that believe they are victims of oppression or persecution. This is commonly called paranoia. Such people are dangerous. Obama appeals to the basest emotions of people, envy, greed, hatred and tells them these emotions are justified because they are victims.
And the rhetoric of those such as, Eric Holder, Mayor DeBlasio, Al Sharpton is being alleged as contributory to the violence we’ve seen following the deaths of Messrs.’. Brown and Garner.
Same goes for similar rhetoric surrounding death of Trayvon Martin.
And the rhetoric following the normal course of police work in Cambridge, Mass. involving Professor Gates.
And the Duke Rape Case.
And the Tawaney Brawley Rape Case.
And the Crown Heights riot. Etc.
Strange as it might seem, the press has given short shrift to the even more incendiary comments and rhetoric of those such as, Louis Farrakhan:
Louis Farrakhan said that if the demands of the Ferguson protestors for the indictment of Officer Darren Wilson were not met, “we’ll tear this go!@amn country up!” In front of an enthusiastic crowd at Morgan State University, Farrakhan claimed that both the Quran and the Bible justified violence by the “law of retaliation” and accused the American judicial system of working only in the interest of whites. To the applause of his audience, the radical leader said “We going to die anyway. Let’s die for something.”
“White people, Farrakhan argued, will only begin to listen to minorities through violence against whites:
“As long as they [whites] kill us [blacks] and go to Wendy’s and have a burger and go to sleep, they’ll keep killing us. But when we die and they die, then soon we’re going to sit at a table and talk about it! We’re tired! We want some of this earth or we’ll tear this goddamn country up!” Rather than a peaceful response, Farrakhan encouraged the parents of teenagers to teach them to throw Molotov cocktails: “Teach your baby how to throw the bottle if they can. Fight!”
The media? Crickets…
It appears that Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley spoke Arabic and was a devotee of the Koran. He apparently identified as a Muslim although he wasn’t fully compliant since he drank beer. If he was also a member of the Black Guerilla Family his ideology would have been a toxic blend of Islamic and leftist hatred for American Christian bourgeoisie society. For many people it is difficult to comprehend how the left and Islam could merge since many of their purported goals are so different but many people are able to find enough common ground to successfully blend these ideologies like Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley. I don’t know how they do it, perhaps these individuals compartmentalize their thinking. My personal opinion is that Obama has also managed to blend Islam and the left.

Everyone in the NYPD should just not show up for work tomorrow. They would have DeBlasio’s resignation by nightfall.
The Left uses one army’s problems to command obedience from their other army.
The Left promotes crime, which makes LEOs think that their union bosses will protect them. The Left promotes the conquering of LEOs and military forces, in order to ramp up corruption and poison. Which is then used to justify to the blacks that someone is at fault for their inferiority. That inferiority makes more crime, allowing the police to hammer whistle blowers out that report on police crimes and excesses, forming better “solidarity” and loyalty to the Regime. This loyalty then enforces more death squads and SWAT kill orders, forming a reaction from the people, who are now labeled “potential criminals in hiding”. Anyone that is not LEO or government, is seen as culturally the same as the criminal and drug “threat”. This promotes easier ways for the Democrat crime lords to tax their population, by convincing people that obeying the police is more useful than obeying their conscience. So they obey Authority.
It’s just a big Ourobus and that’s why the Left regenerates. Even if you dealt with the crime issue, you have no effect on the police issue. Even if you handled the police issue, you have no control over the police unions, which command unthinking loyalty amongst the police as much as Sharpton commands unthinking loyalty from Black Panthers, as Hussein Obola commands zombie loyalty from blacks and guilty whites.
The police corruption issue cannot be dealt with without dealing with the culture, the black thugs, and the lawyers profiting from it all. But the black thugs can’t be dealt with either unless a police system can be constructed that doesn’t deal with either government or Democrat politicians. And the lawyer situation is not going to get cleared up either, regardless of what happens to criminals or the police enforcing the law.
The Nation of Islam were the ones that likely killed Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X. Remember that, slaves of America.
Thirty-two years ago Mumia Abu-Jamal, born Wesley Cook, was convicted of shooting and killing Daniel Faulkner, a five-year veteran with the Philadelphia Police Department. In October, 2014, Abu-Jamal was selected as the commencement speaker for a graduating class at the Goddard College in Vermont. . . . Abu-Jamal’s commencement speech was recorded via telephone from prison by PrisonRadio.org.

Everyone in the NYPD should just not show up for work tomorrow. They would have DeBlasio’s resignation by nightfall.
They went AWOL in Katrina for New Orleans. Did the Governor or Mayor Nagin Chocolate boy over there get slammed out? It was more like Bush II was going to get crucified as a war criminal, as well as taking the fault for that.
The Left always has a way to slip out, unless you kill them straight out.
Obama’s Christmas gift to everyone.
Hatred, division, envy, entitlement, revenge.
The social fabric of our country is being ripped apart.
He is keeping his promise to fundamentally change America.
The long Gramscian march continues.
The masses continue to sleep walk through history in the making. Not to wake up until it’s too late, like cattle in down the chute at the slaughter house.
Our replacements will continue to flow in. Unlike their predecessors who were filtered through Ellis Island. We will also now get the chaff with the wheat.

Hussein Obola’s been giving the gift of SWAT for LONG years people. Long years. He tells ya to do it, and they Obey.
I believe it’s “Garner” you have in mind, rather than “Gardner”.
Ymarsakar: “The Left always has a way to slip out”
Narrative contest, activist game. It’s the only social cultural/political game there is.
Andrew McCarthy has some insights worth consideration.
What’s Really Going on with Holder’s Civil-Rights Crusade against Police Departments
Federal investigations of the Garner and Brown cases are just a pretext.
The result: “Email circulated among cops: 2 cars respond to every call”
“IN ADDITION: Absolutely NO enforcement action in the form of arrests and or summonses is to be taken unless absolutely necessary and an individual MUST be placed under arrest,” the statement said.
Minimum police standards, the public is on their own but if you defend yourself, expect to be arrested for doing so.
The result of this will be the creation of France’s zones where the police dare not go.

Geoffrey Britain — on the up side, rents in NY will go down…
This is an example of the “lone wolf”. A lone wolf is not some kind of sleeper agent awaiting a supersecret order to execute The Plan.
AFAIK, the term was coined when right-wing militias were feared–whatever happened to them, anyway?–and the thought was that lone nutcases inspired by public statements would act.
Since they were inspired by public statements such as radio or publications sent out broadcast–so to speak–there was no way to track back an individual message to HQ. There was no connection. There was no way for law enforcement to know of some nutcase stewing in his basement until his demons got themselves organized and he decided to get moving.
Law enforcement can’t proactively break up this kind of thing, and society can’t stop somebody like Sharpton or any number of unaccountable rappers from calling for–almost but not entirely exactly specifically calling for such actions.
This is bad, Neo – and I’m very much afraid that it will get worse. I’m about %100 certain that Obama, and Holder and most of the urban black underclass want a race war. They want it so badly they can taste it. And the national media is just throwing gasoline onto a bonfire.
My sympathies to the family of these 2 officers.
Not the usual screeching coming from the MSM
after all the Perp is not Tea Party or Conservative as they continually wish. I recall Matthews comments on the Marathon bombing, “well it’s close to tax day are these culprits anti tax Tea Party?”
They will not shed that meme, despite all the events to the contrary, they so desperately want a *non liberal scalp*, It s becoming pathological !
I think you are right that this is akin to the incidents in the 70’s, which I was vaguely aware of at the time being young, but still aware of. I am afraid this will only escalate and the powers-that-be, Obama and Holder and de Blasio — empowered by a left leaning media, are all pushing for more unrest by making anti-police statements and calling out “racism” in the face of absolutely no evidence of such. I am worried for our future.
The only good thing is we got through it before. Also, the elections this time around were very pro-right wing (Republican) and so that gives me hope.
Of course, in a real race war, blacks — who do not as a group endorse such a thing any way, would lose. There are not that many of them compared to even Latinos. They are no longer the nation’s largest minority group and their numbers are actually diminishing over time. Of course, the danger would come from the hard left, which includes many white people and other groups – being a part of that. The left is only stirring this up because it suits their purposes to gain power and control – first by destabilizing the power structure in place. That’s always what they were after — revolution and first insurrection. They use black people and any cause they can, to further their aims.
I only hope this stops but it doesn’t look good and may even escalate before it gets better.
One of these days cops are going to wise-up and realize that they have never been criticized for arresting or shooting white men, East Asians, or Jews and focus all their law-enforcement efforts on those groups. It’s about time they gunned down a few management consultants who lied about discussing business during lunch.
Hey Sgt. Mon, you didn’t have to wait for it to get worse.
Two more cops have been shot.
I don’t know anything more about it than what’s in the link, and I didn’t see it anywhere else.
Oops! I meant Sgt. Mom.
The Left learned a lesson in the 70’s of NYC (where I lived from 1970-1975). Those folks from the Left have in the meanwhile taken over every relevant powerful institution.
Here is what they figured out, a crude but effective agenda.
Are you in favor of children or against them? Is tobacco a good thing? Are you indifferent to drunk drivers killing people, or to animal cruelty? Should men be allowed to beat and rape women? Do you want a dirty environment?
These issues were framed so cleverly that no one could assess them objectively.
They were framed to criminalize and destroy average Americans.
The Left realized that average law abiding Americans could be made to suffer law enforcement and to turn on each other in the process. The Left came to understand this when they saw the (deserved) effectiveness of the “law and order” pov from the 70’s.
The brilliance of this approach was the near total approval of average law abiding Americans only too willing to thrill to the act of proscription and condemnation.
Just as bad, the average police officer has come to see punishment and condemnation as a right, and forcible disdain as never having a downside.
Heads the Left wins, tails we lose, both police and citizens.
We have been transformed successfully into the Left’s false vision of the 70’s.

Thanks, I fixed it.

We have entered a new phase in the War of Good vs Evil in America. It is now becoming violent and deadly.
Obama and Democrats – all Democrats by intention or by simply choosing (their personal choice) to be on the side of the guys in the black hats – are fully responsible for this. You could almost say they have planned it. They are “taking their shot” (no pun intended). They are rolling the dice that this is their moment for the overthrow of America. In this, ISIS is their ally, the enemy of their enemy (America). The Democrats Pols and Voters figure they can deal with ISIS et al later. Why?
Because they know that the biggest and most dangerous enemy they have are normal Americans. They know they face a greater threat from the Little Sisters of the Poor than from the entire Mideast, Russia and China combined.
Don’t think these people won’t fight their real enemy. They will. And as this event shows, they mean business.
Look at what’s happening at UVA:
As much as I do not like Obama, the slaughter of two police officers is NOT a time to sound off on the Liberal Conspiracy Of The Day.
There must be a true conversion of policy between police and citizens.. There will be no utopic solution; each time there is an incident never dealt before, we will have to make a solution. For example, because of the issues of race accusations on the police, there is a rise in purchasing body cams – it’s hard to claim “racism!!!” when you see Pete striking the first blow against Officer Smith.
If your only concern is how to use this tragedy in order to make Obama and Holder look bad then you are no different than any leftist. Besides, they already look bad :/
Rae:
Whose only concern is to make Obama and Holder look bad? Thanks for knocking down a strawman.
My concern, and that of most people here, is truth. I have been appalled at the press coverage of the Brown incident (less so of the Garner incident), the reaction to it, and the attitude of Obama about it. Long before Ramos and Liu were murdered I and others here were very concerned about where the irresponsible rhetoric would lead.
Some of this rhetoric was from Obama and Holder, and some was from their gestures (sending official representatives to Brown’s funeral, continuing to hold out the hope of a civil rights conviction when there is zero evidence for such a thing, etc.). Much of the more inflammatory rhetoric was from Sharpton and Farrakhan. Not only did Obama and Holder not denounce the racemongers, in the case of Sharpton they have allied with him and invited him quite a few times to the White House.
Another concern of mine, of course, is with the safety of police officers. There is no question that Obama, Holder, Sharpton, Farrakhan, and de Blasio have contributed to different degrees to the fact that officers’ safety has become more threatened.
Another concern is with the treatment of the public by police officers. If there are incidents of racism, of course they should be investigated and prosecuted. But the blowing up of incidents that have nothing to do with racism, and encouraging the idea that they do, is pernicious and dangerous.
Before Ramos and Liu were killed, it was easy to predict something like that would be happening.
we will have to make a solution.
We meaning you, Holder, and Valerie, right.
For decades, police training in tactics and strategy have been sabotaged by the unions, Democrat mayors, and Democrat politician bought police chiefs. Recently influx of money from Homeland Security bought even more departments and corrupt bastos, vice squad can’t even compete with that sugar flow.
All of these problems are blamed on civilians with guns, criminals with guns, and just about all the right wing militia aka Republicans and Tea Party and/or Iraq veterans too.
The police are taught in the tribal sense of the blacks, to blame all department corruption and excesses on Others, just like the blacks, Mexicans, and DC plutocrats do. Should see some of the police culture’s “shirts” they now wear talking about the rest of you here.
Just as we were duped into believing that when the wall came down Socialism was dead, as we are again with the late sixties/seventies “Kill The Pigs” anti-war anti everything culture. A direct line can be drawn between those involved then and now. I was a lot younger then, but well remember the lunatics running around the local campus. Now they run the campus, the media and the government. I’m hoping for change soon, before more cops, Christians, Jews and infidels are harmed.
