The poor, poor, IRS…
…and its beleaguered computers:
The IRS on Friday told Congress that five of the 82 people being questioned about the agency’s tea party targeting scandal lost emails as a result of computer crashes, including one official who worked closely with former IRS official Lois Lerner.
IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, in a report sent to the committees investigating whether the IRS unfairly targeted conservative groups in recent years, said 18 of the 82 people “had some type of technical computer issue” between September 2009 and February 2014. Five of those “had hard drive issues that resulted in a probable loss of emails during portions of the four-year period.”
The IRS didn’t just have a dog eat its homework. It was a pack of ravenous wolves.
That means that the hard drive crash rate there was about 6% in three and a half years, and 20% for serious computer problems. Remind me again, what should we trust this outfit for?
Knaves and fools. Although they may have the last laugh.
IRS is simply following the tactics used so successfully by the Clintons — when evidence of corruption and criminality surfaces plead gross incompetence. It works very well with the mainstream media which has also adopted the strategy.
Koskinen has a smile (along with his general demeanor) which says, “I’m lying, and what are you going to do about it?” whenever he appears before a House committee.
Congress needs to exercise its inherent power of contempt and jail Lerner until she talks. Holder’s Department will do nothing.
And do it now and make her talk before the election.
Congress has its own jail.
Anyone want to take a bet that the particular computers that “crashed” were the ones most damaging to the IRS and, whose ‘crash’ will be most obstructive to the Congressional investigation?
Just an amazing coincidence, of course.
Had we a GOP interested in actually fighting the left, upon winning a majority of Congress in the 2014 election, immediately following the Jan. 2015 induction of the new Congress, they would move to appoint a special prosecutor (“A special prosecutor generally is a lawyer from outside the government appointed by an attorney general OR, in the United States, by Congress to investigate a government official for misconduct while in office.”) who would be charged to investigate and, if legally appropriate, bring a RICO case (“Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly referred to as the RICO Act or simply RICO, is a United States federal law that provides for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization.“) against this administration.
why I’m not optimistic about the future, GB.
“Knaves and fools. Although they may have the last laugh.”
You bet they will get the last laugh especially if the Democrats retain power.
GB has it exactly right. What is happening at the IRS is “transparent”… they are giving their middle finger to the country because they know the GOP will do nothing. Just another reason I turned in my GOP voter registration a year ago. This whole administration is a target rich environment and the GOP is playing with squirt guns.
We need to import ISIS, so some heads will really roll.
GB: Only Holder can appoint a special prosecutor and that will never be done.
That’s exactly why Congress must act on its own as it has done in the past on matters much less important.
The Left’s going to import ISIL through the US Mexican border, arm them, then set up false flag operations blaming the Tea Party for the problems.
That will serve as a pretext to some other operations.
