A funny but bittersweet joke from Richard Landes: When a fly falls into a cup of coffee…

Precisely.
Now, I get why the others want them to do it. Money. They are milking Israel through the commerce. “Palestinians” (actually, Jews are the Palestinians until history was rewritten… but I’m talking about the revised Palestinians) have nothing, and want nothing. They would, even if handed Israeli land and infrastructure, contracts in tact and all, somehow, just loot and destroy, then ask for handouts.
What I don’t get is why Israel keeps going along. What I keep looking for is who gets what out of that. Is it their elites, who get contracts? Is it the price for military assistance, or allowances or U.N. and such bribes? There has to be something in it, if it doesn’t, and won’t, work out for the majority of Israelis. Someone, with some serious influence, in Israel, is getting rich off it. That I have never understood, save… well… we do have Democrats and RHINOs. I guess same, same?
Doom…
Bibi is strictly playing for time.

I proposed that America build a sea level canal in the Negev running from Gaza to the Red Sea — with an artificial island established just off shore Gaza in the Med to become an American Gibraltar.
From what little I’ve read, this notion has either been adopted or independently conceived by influential Israelis.
My rationale is that such a canal — and 99 year leasehold — would eliminate Egypt as a threat to Israel, and Israel as a threat to Egypt.
Israel holds the high ground versus Syria and Jordan.

Such a canal would replace 3 USN carrier task forces, as it would provide a combined USN & USAF port and air strip.
The island would connect to Gaza via a causeway.
Israel has already solved the fresh water equation. It’s not a problem.
Such a base would permit America to protect Western interests far and wide without offending Muslim rites.

On the economics, the Suez canal is not going to be big enough to handle the surge in traffic as India joins China as a major manufacturer.
While such a big dig would be a huge effort — it’s the kind of project that America does better than any other nation.

For obvious reasons, the Arab refugees in Gaza will have to be relocated. I propose coastal real estate along the Red Sea. Jordan, KSA and Egypt have plenty of vacant desert.
While fanatics would cling on, I bet that the bulk of the population would be more than willing to set up shop in New Gaza.
Since the fanatics are criminals — to a man — they’d be compelled to follow their victims as they left.

Gaza Island would be protected by a theatre ABM — and perhaps some Pershing IIs. (Iran, Pakistan)

The huge expense would be a trifle compared to open warfare, especially now that Barry has resolved to permit atomics.
Obviously, nothing along these lines can happen until Barry is gone.
An Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman each bought a pint of Guinness, but before they could take a sip, a fly landed in each of their pints.
The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust.
The Scotsman simply fished the fly out of his beer and began drinking.
The Irishman picked the fly out of his drink, then held it over the glass and started shaking it, yelling, “SPIT IT OUT YOU LITTLE BASTARD!”
Snackeater, wasn’t that the other way around, with the Irishman and the Scotsman?
Two flys met and before their next buzz one asked the other one, “Why don’t you check out that coffee?” “What, are you crazy?” the other replied. “No, hell, no” said the first fly, “that’s coffee that’s been transformed.” “Yeah,” said the second, “well what of it.” “Well, that coffee will change you. It will never let you go back to your buzz un-involved and uninformed.”
The first fly looked knowingly at the second fly. The second fly looked back at the second fly. “Shit, you almost had me there scuzbag.” Both flys laughed and went off on their buzz. Which goes to show, a progressive doesn’t even have the sense God gave to a fly.
Sgt Mom–always heard it that way but that’s a good point. I guess it could go either way. The Irish for their drinking stereotype and the Scotch (mmm…Scotch) for their thriftiness stereotype.
