  1. The very same path awaits Afghanistan. IMO, over the next 10 years, most of the ME will devolve into Jihadist States like Iran.

Even SecState Kerry agrees that Iran’s gaining (soon to arrive) nuclear weapons capability will kick off a nuclear arms race in the region and nuclear proliferation into unstable third world regimes and Jihadist States will result.

Mali manual suggests al-Qaida has feared weapon

“TIMBUKTU, Mali (AP) — The photocopies of the manual lay in heaps on the floor, in stacks that scaled one wall, like Xeroxed, stapled handouts for a class.

Except that the students in this case were al-Qaida fighters in Mali. And the manual was a detailed guide, with diagrams and photographs, on how to use a weapon that particularly concerns the United States: A surface-to-air missile capable of taking down a commercial airplane.

The 26-page document in Arabic, recovered by The Associated Press in a building that had been occupied by al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb in Timbuktu, strongly suggests the group now possesses the SA-7 surface-to-air missile, known to the Pentagon as the Grail, according to terrorism specialists. And it confirms that the al-Qaida cell is actively training its fighters to use these weapons, also called man-portable air-defense systems, or MANPADS, which likely came from the arms depots of ex-Libyan strongman Col. Moammar Gadhafi.”

“no threat is more serious to aviation than man-portable air defense systems” (MANPADS) Secretary of State Colin Powell, addressing the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, October 2003

    Here’s another prediction from 2011:
FBI: 100 Percent Chance of WMD Attack

“The probability that the U.S. will be hit with a weapons of mass destruction attack at some point is 100 percent, Dr. Vahid Majidi, the FBI’s assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate, tells Newsmax”

  2. Heck, John McCain said something similar at the time. Many people, even little old me, thought Iraq would splinter once we took our boots off the ground. But no worries, AP is reporting that dear leader may send 100 “special forces” members to advise and train Maliki’s crumbling military.

I agree that many people saw big problems coming. I certainly did, if we completely withdraw (I was worried about the withdrawal for years before it even happened). Romney called Obama out on it as well.

The reason I highlighted the guy in this post was because I thought his article represented a more detailed prediction than most, not just some general warning, and that most of it has proven correct.

  4. neo,

I did read the article before commenting. 😉 And I agree that his 2011 prediction has proved to be very accurate. As I said elsewhere this turmoil does not have a downside as far as BHO is concerned….. unless the embassy is seized.

  5. Time for Kipling:

“When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.”
