It’s kind of amusing…
…to observe someone like New Republic’s Isaac Chotiner struggle to retain his admiration for Barack Obama’s towering intellect and superb temperament as Chotiner simultaneously realizes that Obama is actually a supremely condescending blowhard who uses a great many more words than necessary to say absolutely nothing except how wonderful he is:
Yes, the president is capable of giving intelligent and mature answers to questions. But the intent is so obvious””and the effort shows such strain””that the answers feel more condescending than enlightening. Remnick’s [New Yorker] piece, in fact, doesn’t show Obama’s complexity; it shows Obama applauding his own complexity. The president is like a novelist who demands on telling you the motivation of every character, except he is the only character.
When the libs are finally catching on to Obama’s condescending mode, some headway is being mode. OTOH, anyone who paid attention to Barack Obama was aware of his condescending mode years ago. One example was Obama’s condescending dismissal of rural Pennsylvanians as “bitter clingers” SIX YEARS AGO.
I suspect that liberals and progressives like Chotiner have, in their heart of hearts, known all along that Obama is “actually a supremely condescending blowhard who uses a great many more words than necessary to say absolutely nothing except how wonderful he is” and that his intellect is far from ‘towering’ with his famed dispassionate ‘temperament’ simply part of a carefully crafted persona.
We’ve just reached the point where Obama’s many failures make the pretense about Obama increasingly ludicrous. Chotiner et al are faced with continued support for Obama’s charade equating to incontrovertible proof that they are utter fools. For many, ego trumps ideological loyalty.
Obama is the one for whom the word “prunt” was coined
So Obama applauds his own complexity. I’ve always thought liberalism is not about justice or helping the poor, it’s about telling others how much you care about justice or helping the poor.
A truly awesome pictorial comparison between Obama and Putin
I find Obama’s body language particularly telling in the pic entitled; “Obama winces like a girl at the sight of judo” And yes, just below that is Obama on a girl’s bicycle with a ‘ring-ring’ bell by his left hand. And don’t you agree that the helmet just completes the entire metro-sexual image?
LOL. Obama is all about image. He does not want to be intellectual. He just wants to seem intellectual. When he was giving all those “great” campaign speeches in 2008, if you went and read the speech, it was clear it was “content free”: long on rhetoric, short on substance.
The Gis look more like Brazilian JuiJitsu Gis, not Judo Gis.
Perhaps Obama’s Svengali powers over the left have a shelf life after all. Unfortunately, the rest of us have been retching our guts out as we suffer through the pseudo intellectual philosopher-in-chief’s soliloquies since 2008.
My favorite part of the interview: “But, as parents, what we have seen, both in our own family and among our friends….” They have friends??
No Don, they’re ‘gay’ Gi’s. Obama’s body language makes that clear.
Obama is the most boring man in the world. The hitch now is that EVERYONE is thinking it even if they can’t say it.
“if you went and read the speech, it was clear it was “content free”: long on rhetoric, short on substance.”
I always thought he sounded like a high school debater at best, trying to come up with fancy words he hadn’t quite mastered but knew sounded good – or should. But it was all cover for having nothing of actual substance to say.
“Obama is the most boring man in the world. ”
“I don’t always act like a self-important stuffed shirt. But when I do, I prefer to lay it on thick. Oh, who am I kidding? I always do that.”
– The most boring man in the world.
GOOD EFFING MORNING, MR. CHOTINER.
