“Wolf of Wall Street” fashion — 27 Comments

  1. I’ve seen Gigi once; was appalled that the message seemed to be that her best hope/chance at a good life was to become some man’s mistress.

  2. I am in awe at the almost infinite variety of their deep horribleness, although some are clearly more horrible than others.

    21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

    22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression.

    23. Control art critics and directors of art museums.

    25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. [and fashion]

    26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

    32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

    40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity, masturbation and easy divorce.

    yup… its all there..
which is why putin has switched places and says the US can no longer represent morals and all that and that russia now holds that place!!!

ergo, the reversal of the split of last century
we have become them, and they have become a false image of what we were.

at the forefront of this change, the biggest movement, most well funded, and most cooperative, and global is feminism

before anyone comments. let me equalize the movement and show some ladies what idiocy they think is normal

    men are oppressed…
    how so?
women will not let men expose themselves and wear clothing that allows them to show off their bodies, its a mans body, why oppress them by forcing them to cloth themselves.

    men….
    burn your jockstraps
be liberated, throw off the chains of your femal oppressors and show it by walking around with your penis tossing about…

until men get the right to show their penis and balls off, men are oppressed as women used to be before they liberated themselves from the oppression of men not wanting to see them exposed!!!

you women are geniuses to normalize that!
    men are not that smart…
we could never get a movement to equate keeping our pants on with female oppression the way women equated being demure, modest and all that with male oppression!!!

    if you didnt oppose it
    you were for it!!!

    there is no middle ground..
because that side wont let their be

so now we have to put up with the idea that liberation is tah tah exposure…

    these dresses ARE horrible

but they are that way because of feminist equality!
if you select the best dresses from the most talented, what do you end up doing to the idea we are all equal and any moron can make a run way dress equally?

you can add to this the womens idiocy of removing her place i the family, getting high paid jobs thorugh affirmative action to pay the taxes of women that hate them and have lots o babies with their money, alienation of their mates (isolating them in the future), destroying their own male childrens future, and more!

“Anyone who knows anything of history knows that great social changes are impossible without feminine upheaval.

Social progress can be measured exactly by the social position of the fair sex, the ugly ones included.”
    ― Karl Marx

he made no comment as to the left wing fugly
    beautiness is only skin deep
but leftist ugly is to the bone, and they are bone fugly

  3. Feminist funding comes from big foundations

“Women’s Studies” and Rockefeller Foundation and you’ll get 132,000 links

“Women’s Studies” and Ford Foundation and you’ll get 217,000 links

    Carnegie Foundation yields 197,000 links

red dress, breast cancer, and so on, are HUGE things at fashion week with feminist stuff in a flood!!! [breast cancer gets billions while prostate cancer gets nothing comparatively]

A 1990 report by Women and Foundations/Corporate Philanthropy found that 23% of foundations surveyed had no women or people of color as trustees. Furthermore, women of color made up only 5% of all foundation trustees [which is why only one pop is collapsing, like russia, like japan, like uk and the others]

    * 71% of foundation members are male.

so who is running it? women, or men running women to control women?

most below was cut and pasted from various places – artfldgr

If you take the time to really trace NGO funding, the faces change from radical chic hell raiser women gradually into very old white men.

    Foundation Grants Index
    http://library.dialog.com/bluesheets/html/bl0027.html

Start with an organization’s website and where possible, find who funds them, and the list of their board. Save to a notepad or word.doc. When you’ve collected a lot of donors names, most you won’t recognize, some you will, but you’ll see names crop up over and over again. They’re not all American names either listed on these US foundations. You’ll find many names listed in Who’s Who in America consisting of mostly Anglo-Americans, Jews, and a smattering of Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, and some Russian. But nationalities don’t matter. What binds them more powerfully is that they’re all Plutocrats. When you have the names of the foundations that fund them upfront, check those foundations websites to find who their donors are. As you go, check each foundation with the Grants Foundation Index. This will tell you what other organizations they fund.

Today it takes more time to trace the money trail back to where the buck stops. The up front organizations who commonly fund NGO’s involved in the catch-all ‘women’s rights’ include:

    International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF),

    the International Women’s Health Coalition,

    the Population Council,

    International Projects Assistance Services (Ipas),

    the Center for Reproductive Rights,

    Family Care International,

    William and Flora Hewlett Foundation,

    David and Lucile Packard Foundation,

    The MacArthur Foundation

even bella dodd admited that communism was just a front for the wealthy to control the common man and make sure that no more rise to take their places… with disruptive tech…

    Wu Yajun
    Chan Laiwa
    Zhang Xin
    Chu Lam Yiu
    Chen Ningning
    He Qiaonv

bet you never heard of them

they are 6 female self made billionaires of china!!!

    interesting… eh
    what about the siloviki?

no one wants to comment that buffet bought all of BNSF trains to ship oil while obama holds keystone so he can make money?

here is a list of chinas 100 richest..

    get a clue!! 🙂

  4. Sam L.:

I saw “Gigi” so long ago I can’t say I remember the plot so very well, but I recalled the message as a somewhat different one.

And now that I look it up, Wiki seems to agree:

Realizing he has fallen in love with Gigi, who no longer is the child he thought her to be, Gaston returns to Mamita and proposes he take Gigi as his mistress, promising to provide the girl with luxury and kindness. The young girl declines the offer, telling him she wants more for herself than to be passed between men, desired only until they tire of her and she moves on to another. Gaston is horrified at this portrayal of the life he wishes to give her, and leaves stunned. Gigi later decides she would rather be miserable with him than without him. Prepared to accept her fate as Gaston’s mistress, Gigi emerges from her room looking like a woman. Gaston is enchanted and takes her to dinner at Maxim’s, where she seems perfectly at ease. The stares of other patrons make Gaston extremely uncomfortable as he realizes Gigi’s interpretation of things may have been accurate after all, and discovers his love for her makes the idea of her as his mistress an unbearable one. He leaves the party with Gigi in tow and takes her home without explanation. After wandering the streets throughout the night, he returns to Mamita’s home and humbly asks for Gigi’s hand in marriage.

But truthfully, I was so young when I saw the film that I didn’t even get the distinctions or the meanings. I loved Leslie Caron, and I loved the costumes, and I liked the songs, and that was about it for me.

  5. “Lord, what fools these mortals be.”

Who advises these creatures and have they no access to full length mirrors. They must wake up every day and say, “What can I do today to make myself uglier than i was yesterday?”

Humanoids of the stupid red carpet, you have succeeded. And they will be uglier tomorrow if you dont start dressing like normal human beings

  6. Maybe they were trying for top eliminator in the tasteless costumes category. Years ago I read the book “Dress for Success”. Looks like they read the book “Dress for Faillure”.

  7. I happened to see some pics of red carpet attendees at the recent Golden Globe awards and was struck by how far IMO, women’s ‘top’ fashions have declined. We’ve reached a new nadir. Very few exceptions.

Plus some news stories of behavior as low-class as I can recall. Public intoxication and impaired cognition were rampant.

  8. I’m glad that there are people who pay attention to fashion relieving me of that heavy burden. 😉

  9. Girlfriend, you are too good at this to let it go to waste. You have GOT to do it more often! First Friday of every month? Or just the big events? Whatever, your schedule. Just more, please.

  10. And one more thought for a separate post. I watched The Duchess the other night with Keira Kneightley. Farthingales, corsets, whalebone, foot-high wigs, dresses you have to be sewn into in the morning and cut out of at night — thank goodness we women no longer submit to such painful and difficult artifices!

  11. Couldn’t they be used for glue or something?

I did enjoy Artfldgr’s attempt to find the serious side. And I believe he’s right. When the aesthetic becomes narcissistic and introverted, based on unreality, what else do you expect? Pajama boy or something?

  12. Bat-Zorro-Flying Squirrel by a mile.

And, she keeps the boots on. Hey, just saying…

  13. NeoConScum:

Yes, but how does she keep the heels on the boots? They look like they’re about a micron thick.

  14. Women–and those who want to appear to be women– who can understand?

I don’t think it is just a recent phenomenon. In support of some family research I was doing for my Grand daughter, I pulled out some pictures of my Mother which would have been taken in the late 1920s or early 30s. Then it was the hats. Well, and the make up. And the nicknames; Mother who had the lovely name of Julia Mildred adopted, or accepted, the nickname of “Bill”. I will never know why.

We may have been repressed in the ’50s, but I still think that the girls and women of that time reached the pinnacle of style and attractiveness. Or is just an old fellow ruminating?

My objection to the awful styles on the Red Carpets these days is that they influence the youngsters. Otherwise I would not care what those women do; but, I cringe when I see high school and college age girls dressed like–what is an acceptable word; tacky vamps? The sad thing is that they think it is attractive and sophisticated, because that is what they see attractive people, who are promoted as sophisticated, wearing. Look at prom pictures. The lack of taste is appalling. The message that they are presumably trying to send is no less so. We won’t even address every day school attire.

  15. Oldflyer:

The other day I happened to have been looking at an old photo of a family get-together from the early 60s. It was just my family and my uncle’s family, and we just having dinner at their house. I don’t think it was any particularly special occasion, but all the woman and girls had really pretty dresses on. Nowadays that would almost never happen. I also remember that until I grew up I was not allowed to leave the house wearing jeans. My family knew a lot of people in the community, and they didn’t want me to disgrace them if I was spotted.

  16. “I don’t think it was any particularly special occasion, but all the woman and girls had really pretty dresses on. Nowadays that would almost never happen. I also remember that until I grew up I was not allowed to leave the house wearing jeans”

While I do not wish to see a return to such fashionista days, there is something to be said for girls being girls and boys being boys. The line has been so blurred that we now have The Life of Julia and PJ boy sipping hot chocolate.

  17. The fashion fits the notions surrounding the movie. Some of those outfits might actually get a woman arrested, or at least escorted to some sort of treatment, around these parts. If the wearer was known, family might just be called, as we aren’t all that into the immorality of law alone, either.

  18. Dont worry, soon we wont be able to discuss it, as what women wear or not wear is the baliwick of the doyens of all things female..

    on another note..
Thirteen House Democrats have proposed legislation that would require the government to study hate speech on the Internet, mobile phones and television and radio.

the NAACP and NOW support the bill

“hope that the study will address continuing hate speech that vilifies women seeking reproductive health care”

you can be sure that soon calling one of their dresses ugly, will be considered hate speech…

which would be double plus ungood citizen!!

“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.”

    ― Voltaire

  19. Years ago, when I saw Japanese postures and portrayals, I didn’t get it. Why were all the young women, their parents, and their kids in high school, wearing skirts? Why were the ones wearing paints portrayed as an engineer, technician, or unfeminine? What was up with all those postures, sitting, standing, mechanics that emphasized closing of the legs and tucking in skirts against the wind?

I didn’t get it. It felt like a version of 1940s America. Except nobody was speaking American. They would be using cell phones and texting like school girls on steroids, but then there would be the anachronism, time poison.

Of course, if my eyes had been burned out young and good by Hollywood stuff, I might have figured out a difference sooner. I thought the Japanese obsession with costume parties, cosplay, and high school girl sailor outfits was abnormal. I should have been watching Hollywood for real abnormal stuff. Japan’s aesthetic was the NORMAL one.

  20. what if the fashion is naked?

If you ask exec producer Judd Apatow, who addressed the incident after the panel, the wording of the reporter’s question itself, directed to creator and star Lena Dunham, was not only “offensive” but “sexist” and “misogynistic.”

    the question:
I don’t get the purpose of all the nudity on the show – by [Dunham] in particularly. I feel like I’m walking into a trap where you go, ‘Nobody complains about all the nudity on Game of Thrones,’ but I get why they do it. They do it to be salacious and titillate people. And your character is often nude at random times for no reason

    the reply…
“That was a very clumsily stated question that’s offensive on it’s face, and you should read it and discuss it with other people how you did that. It’s very offensive.” – apatow

it is “a realistic expression of what it’s like to be alive. But I totally get it. If you’re not into me, that’s your problem and you’re going to have to work that out with professionals,” she retorted said dunham

you cant tell them what they are doing is not good, or gratuitous etc. your gonna get attacked, told you need therapy, etc… your a mysoginist if you dont like gratuitous underage nudity in movies…

but but, what about the hostile male gaze they complain about? your a mysoginist if you look, and your a mysogynist if you dont want to see it..

so you have to want to see it but not look…
    then your what? (blind?)

as far as guys are concerned… these are not people worth being with, having a relationship with, etc. they are BROKEN beyond repair because they will team up to show that any perversion they say is ok, is ok by weight of a group of them agreeing behind the wacko…

in a way, the plummeting birth rate for them is mothers natures way of saying, this is a population of unfit mothers, unfit mates, and their children are unfit for the future… so its good they dont have them, abort them, and generally despite their own kids…

    -=-==-=-=-=-

and on the old tasteful clothes..

how dare you be so racist as to weant to have the oppressors clothing, and want the old culture, and want the status quo?

its not th elefts fault that every other culture before them alighted on the good stuff and left them nothing but crap to make good… (easier than competing)..

so you better like steel grey soviet realism perverse titilatting exhibishionist narcisist clothing, cause if you dont the narcisists are gonna hate you, retaliate against you etc..

its a key point of their emotional existence, your either loved or on their crapper list…

now, tell them that their dresses are nice you mysoginst piece of crap – and dont look either!

note that the spell check does not know misandry…

  21. Vogue’s Lena Dunham airbrush uncovered: Unretouched image reveals exactly HOW MUCH Photoshop was used on the Girls star

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2540756/Did-Vogue-Photoshop-Lena-Dunham-Girls-stars-missing-arm-raises-questions-magazines-use-airbrushing.html

    only the wymen can look..
but it gives you an didea of how far they go to close the sale, and how little the ladies realie that they are the ones whow this appeals to, as the guys are already mysoginists for saying too much is too much…

want to get a woman to do something stupid?
just tell her its brave and liberating.

  22. Just happened to run across the recent Australian detective series “Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries” on Netflix and episodes are now also playing on my local TV, and the style and the quality of the 1910-20s costumes worn by Miss Fisher are exquisite, especially as opposed to the absolutely hideous crap that is the subject of this thread.

When I was a kid in the late 40s early 50’s the uniform of the day for serious male adults (upscale but a lot of not so upscale people too) was a suit, dress shirt and tie, hat, and nice polished leather shoes, and women wore dresses and hats as well.

    Now, well, look around you.

It looks like a lot of people have raided a Good Will Collection Box, or the lockers at the local gym.

  23. Wolla,
I love Miss Fisher’s outfits, which inspired me to wear again a lovely felt hat I bought at Takashimaya almost 20 years ago.

Seems to me the transgressive, edgy, thing to do nowadays is to be in good shape, and wear well-cut, elegant clothes that fit well.
