Time‘s Person of the Year: Pope Francis — 4 Comments

  1. The liberals will turn on the Pope soon enough, but this POY at least will put egg on their face. Of course, they will explain it that he changed, or was done in by the Vatican curia, or Opus Dei got to him…

They hear what they want to hear, and interpret it the way that suits their needs. I’m a trad-ish Catholic, very orthodox and loyal to the See of Peter. This Pope’s way of talking gives me fits, and I still mourn for my B16. BUT, even Francis has claimed to be a son of the Church, and his viewpoints in important matters match those of B16. This will be more evident as time goes on, and that is what gives me faith.

  2. The Leftist propaganda works on a combination of authority with the circle effect.

Source A reports that a conservative is evil, greedy, and a criminal.

Source B reports Source A’s claims.

Source C claims that their source is B and trusted.

In this circle the Leftist fodder resides and thinks they have 3 sources that verifies the task, that their view is 3 times as right.

But it’s more like 3 times as wrong.

  3. What JuliB said. The Pope hasn’t altered Church teaching in any way shape or form. The Pope doesn’t set dogma, he protects it. This basic fact often eludes people.

It’s kind of amusing that Time and others on the left think that because Francis is here that FINALLY the Church is focusing on the poor, etc. As if his predecessors didn’t.

  4. There’s nothing the Left cannot break.

People should not underestimate the power of the Left. It may come to be that they are surprised when the Left’s prophecies bear fruit. Even if people are protected now from change, that doesn’t guarantee the future.
