Snowden finds a home — 21 Comments

  1. If Manning was not convicted for treason, what would Snowden be convicted for? Revealing that the Obama admin got a FISA warrant for all Verizon calls (ie, no filtering)? That the NSA records all phone calls and emails? That low level analysts can do a warrantless search of the complete database? That the secret FISA court reinterpreted the Patriot Act in secret to give the NSA vast data collection powers?

  2. “Our president has … expressed hope many times that this will not affect the character of our relations,”

And Putin knows EXACTLY what that character is. After all, he sets the standards, not the Dent.

  3. I know he’s a pariah but I’m still glad that I’ve learned what I now know about domestic surveillance in this country and don’t believe I would have acquired that knowledge but for him.

I don’t deny that the NSA info was already pretty much “out there” to be discovered piecemeal, but Snowden certainly bundled it up for everyone.

Like I said, I’d rather know than not. That said, I hope Putin’s nice to this kid.

  4. I wonder what the Guardian is still sitting on. Much of it could truly be damaging to Obama, but a Leftist probably won’t release it.

NSA, is after all, a US right wing type of organization all in all. A Leftist President may have inherited it, but it was originally designed to fight america’s enemies.

Although that kind of power is easily corrupted by career bureaucrats, who are increasingly Leftist and anti American in nature.

  5. Oldflyer … you must mean “re-kick.” (Lucy)

    Y…

The Guardian is, essentially, a KGB asset. This goes back years and years… and ties into the Stalinist wing of the Labor Party.

    See: Foote.

Subsequent revelations on Foote indicate that he was not only loony — but a full blown traitor — caught on tape, no less.

It’s a scandal that has not really crossed the pond.

  6. NSA massively recruits from Democrat ranks — Silicon Valley.

It’s wrong to assume that it’s loaded up with conservatives.

Start with Snowden, Leftist, Progressive, Democrat … and disillusioned.

  7. Even Yosserian realized that Snowden had a parachute problem.

He might find that he’s prone to tourist accidents.

As Hastings could tell him, it’s a weird world we live in.

  8. I don’t think Barry cares about much, he is the lamest of all ducks, has a limitless fleet of buses to throw anyone/everyone under and will not be challenged by anyone in the media, the R’s don’t have the ‘nads to anything meaningfull. Welcome to government without leadership.

  9. I’ll take government without leadership over government with malfeasance any day. BHO is a lame duck only to the extent that the house majority is willing to hold his webbed feet to the fire. So far that does not seem likely.

I’ll admit that I’m happy to see Putin making a punk of BHO. Tonight I’ll dream of Team Obama wringing their hands and pouting over Putin mooning the messiah. Like carl in atlanta, I’m glad the abuses of the 4th are out in the open.

  10. Michele Catalano was looking for information online about pressure cookers. Her husband, in the same time frame, was Googling backpacks. Wednesday morning, six men from a joint terrorism task force showed up at their house to see if they were terrorists. Which begs the question: How’d the government know what they were Googling?

  11. I hope that was a light poke in the eye or Snowden will find himself quite at home there as here. I’m never sure with the Russians, which… is why they have always been, and remain, a fascinating enemy. The Chinese never had any character to them, not in their body politic, military, or intelligence. Even their intelligentsia are somewhat… stated. No pun intended, mostly.

  12. One bad guy beats another bad guy.

Anyone who brings O down a peg has done America a service.

  13. The more I see of Obama, the more I like Putin. At least he likes his country.

  14. Just remember that The Great Obumbler (PBUH) told Putin (caught on an open mike) that after the elections, he would be able to be “more flexible”.

  15. “Putin has Obama’s number.”

Alpha-male former KGB official defeats beta-male community organizer.

    Who’da thunk it?

  16. I’m sure Obama can sell out 90% of NATO’s assets in return for a deal from Putin.

After all, it’s not like “we” paid for that alliance’s goodies… oh wait.

  17. I hope the little traitor gets a cave in Siberia with only one TV station and on that channel only one old Maria Ouspenskaya movie.

  18. I’m sure that Putin has underestimated the master manipulator and chess player Obama. The man whose blunders and screw-ups are cleverly disguised traps his opponents consistently fall into. The brilliant tactician who wins even when he loses, because losing is an illusion that leads to what he really wanted all the time. The master thinker and deceiver will soon spring his trap on the cretin Putin.
Oh, wait, Obama’s unparalleled genius only applies to his ability to outwit his domestic enemies.
When it comes to foreign policy, the amazing intellect that we’re constantly reminded of, is MIA.
