At today’s IRS hearings
Yes, the IRS illegally provided the liberal group Human Rights Watch with lists of conservative donors to its rivals the National Organization for Marriage. Those donors included one of Romney’s political committees, a fact publicized for Obama campaign purposes.
Here’s the original story about the donors (minus who was responsible for the leak), which broke back in March of 2012:
A state political action committee run by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney gave $10,000 to a conservative group that has come under scrutiny for plans to “drive a wedge” between African-Americans and gays, according to documents revealed Friday.
Free & Strong America PAC Alabama, one of a network of state-level PACs that has raised and disbursed money on Romney’s behalf, gave the donation in 2008 to the National Organization for Marriage, which at the time was working to pass Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriage in California, disclosure records show.
The Human Rights Campaign, a gay rights group, argues that Romney disbursed the money through his little-known Alabama PAC in an attempt to avoid drawing national attention to the donation and said it could violate California disclosure requirements. The group said it first learned of the gift from confidential NOM tax records provided by a whistleblower, which listed the money as coming from a PAC address in Massachusetts.
Whoever leaked the list apparently was careful to redact the identifying IRS origins—at least, he or she thought the markers of the document’s provenance were redacted. It turns out that the document retained “internal IRS stamps,” which “only exist within the IRS.”
Here’s a portion of today’s exchange about this:
What a tool McDermott is.
Tool is a nice way of saying it. I’d have to bite my lip if I were on the committee or on the receiving end of his claptrap. Wasn’t McDermott involved in a wiretap scandal a few years ago?
It’s vote fraud on both ends. “Suppress the Vote” is the lapel pin Obama replaced the American flag with.

“You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those who serve. And you show your patriotism by being true to your values and ideals. And that’s what we have to lead with, our values and ideals,” Obama said.
He got that right.
McDermott is a seditious tool who places the ideology of his tribe above his oath of office.
McDermott is not a mere tool. He is a former psychiatrist, has been the Congresscritter for Seattle for about a decade now, and is a True Believer. He and Seattle deserve one another, much as San Fran deserves, and has, Pelosi.
Psychiatry has for a long time been the most Leftist medical specialty. Keep that in mind the next time, if ever, you feel the need to get your mental health adjusted.
This is proof that the IRS activities can be seen as supporting Obama’s re-election, right? Revealing a Romney group’s confidential donation which was then used against Romney by the Obama campaign. This is as brazen as the IRS initiating audits on Frank VanderSloot’s private and business finances within weeks of the Obama campaign mentioning him as one of Romney’s big supporters on their website and in a campaign email.
This is not random. This calls into question the results of the 2012 election.
Don Carlos, McDermott won his first term in the House in 1988. 25 years and counting. His district, which covers most of downtown Seattle, guarantees him a seat for as long as he wants. No one even tries to challenge him from either party these days. Seattle is essentially so progressive that it thrives on the cult of a socialist personality. He’s 76 and probably won’t serve too much longer, but while he does, he’s a constant vote for progressivism in all its forms.
Unfortunately, most of our Congress Critters are of the same mold. The one thing that has kept the state from becoming California is that there is still some vestige of fiscal responsibility among our state legislators who are a much more diverse group.
McDermott was one of three Democrat Congressmen who went to Iraq in the fall of 2002 in order to forestall war. From The Weekly Standard:
According to Representative McDermott, Saddam Hussein was more trustworthy than President Bush.
But of course Representative McDermott is believable.
Let’s remember who McDermott is. Two Florida NEA apparatchiks recorded a cell phone conversation between House Repub leadership in the middle 90’s. That tape eventually ended up in McDermott’s hands. Instead of giving it to the House ethics committee or the police, he gave it to the NY Times then lied about giving it. In Jimmy’s world, rules just don’t apply to liberals because liberals are superior.
Ryan did a terrific job.
McDermott is a fool. I wonder how many Obama supporters don’t actually see this in his performance.
While I’m happy to have him on our side, I wish Ryan was a better political counter-puncher. He didn’t ‘close’ his argument. After pointing out how much more serious this all is than how McDermott characterized it, he let unsaid that it was McDermott who was conducting ‘political theater’.
Ryan would have been much more effective had he stated that no objective listener could characterize all of this as a mere ‘mistake’ and that doing so demonstrated that it was McDermott that was engaging in political theater and that the questions that the IRS should be able to ask would be the ones they asked of progressive applicants…
Don Carlos: I meant “tool” as in “willing instrument.”
GB,
Ryan was far too polite. That is a large part of the problem in DC. People like McRodent and McCain deserve no respect or quarter. Call them out for what they are — elitist alimentary canal orifices.
shit from sheaddle
What if there was an Arab Spring in America?
What if Tahrir Square was, say, the streets outside of the IRS Bldg and places like that?
What would our so-called government do if that really happened?
Your answer to that question, which we all know, tells you everything you need to know about the present day American “government”.
It’s actually quite simple, according to the Left:
Issues such as the vote, traditional marriage, abortion, healthcare, the size of government, patriotism, liberty, the Constitution, American history, being (traditionally) Christian, being pro-Israel, etc., are POLITICAL issues when of interest to the Right, but SOCIAL issues when of interest to the Left.
People who work with and/or donate to Left Wing groups are Valued GOOD Citizens, and those who work with and/or donate to Right Wing groups are EVIL Creatures and deserve to be publicly named and shamed, and ruthlessly targeted by the aforementioned Valued GOOD Citizens and government agencies.
Small correction here – the gay rights group is called Human Rights Campaign, not Watch.
I was doing some work for the National Organization for Marriage when this was discovered last March. HRC has large, very public offices in DC and NOM cannot disclose its locations due to fear of being hacked or worse, attacked like the Family Research Council shooting.
Of course, the irony of this is lost on the HRC since they are deemed the “victims” in the fight to defend traditional marriage.
O tempora, o mores!
jlt –
And, it pains me to say,
“O sancta simplicitas!”
(in Jan Huss’s sense)
He’s a tool in all senses of the word.
Minions of evil may be exterminated at the same rate, or higher, than the demon lords.
And still no one of importance has stated bluntly that Obama is at the center of all these shenanigans.
