The Boston marathon: not the Tsarnaev brothers’ first murder? — 11 Comments
Let’s see, it could be that Grandma over there or those Tsarnaev brothers. There’s mounds of circumstantial evidence its the brothers but that would be Islamophobic, wouldn’t it.
Arrest Grandma!
Wait, Holder says just shoot her. He’ll recuse himself when he needs to.
Walkaway Guy: so it was a grisly anti-Semitic hate crime, as well.
Wonder if all those girls are still lovin’ on Dzhohkar now.
Ah, but at least the victims were politically correct, probably even defensive toward allegations or untoward notions regarding their slayers’ religious and political notions, right to the end. It is how that goes. Live, or not, but certainly learn?
Whether big city liberals deserve it or not, they sure seem to invite, create, many of their woes. Detroit would be a similar example. Most big cities are following suit, and little cities racing to catch up. If only we could divorce big cities, turn them into their own city-states? I don’t even want to hear the news there, to be honest. At this point, it is partially required… politically tied, bound… gagged… to them.
Completely off-topic, but it’s amazing the stuff you learn at Ace O’Spades:
Wow, this is the first time I have heard the victims in the triple homicide were all Jewish. I am pretty sure I would have picked up on the fact if it had been reported in the articles I read. Yet another data point indicating islamists and the leftist media are rotten to the core.
I despise the concept of ‘hate crimes’.
This is the politicization by political correctness of acts which are already quite criminal. Murder is not committed out of love for the murdered; murdering a hetero by a hetero is just murder, but the same of a gay by a non-gay, or a Jew by a Tsarnaev, is a ‘hate crime’, a ‘special’ sort of murder?
The motive is the motive, and the act is the act. End of story.
Don Carlos: I agree that, as a legal matter, the category “hate crime” is fairly useless and unnecessary.
However, there was a reason I used the term here. This is the reason, and I think it’s important: I had heard many times in the news that there was an unsolved murder that police were now suspecting the Tsarnaev brothers of having perpetrated. I heard (and read) that one of the victims was a person who had been a friend of Tamerlan’s, and something to do with drugs (marijuana was found covering the bodies, which I now believe was an attempt by the Tsarnaevs at misdirection to the police).
What I did not read or hear, despite coverage by the MSM, were two things: that the victims were almost beheaded, and that all three were Jewish. That information, as far as I know, was not reported, or certainly hardly ever reported. And yet that information would or should have been KEY in helping police to solve the crime (I assume, of course, that they had the information, although I wonder whether PC thought kept them from putting two and two together), because it pointed to Islamic extremists as the possible or even likely perpetrators, and hinted at the “hate crime” motive, which had police pursued it, might have in this case led to the much-earlier apprehension of the Tsarnaevs. That would not only have solved the horrific murders, it would have also prevented the Boston bombing. So the classification of this crime would have pointed to motive and perhaps helped solve it, since Tamerlan Tsarnaev, good friend of one of the victims, was a known possible Islamist terrorist who had been fingered by Russia and interrogated by the FBI.
And so you can see why in this case the characterization was important.

Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev left a note claiming responsibility for the April 15 attack on the Boston Marathon, reports CBS News senior correspondent John Miller.
Sources tell Miller that Tsarnaev wrote the note in the boat he was hiding in as police pursued him, and as he bled from gunshot wounds sustained in an earlier shootout between police and his older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. It reads as part manifesto, part suicide note and part justification for the killing and maiming of innocent civilians.
The note – scrawled with a marker on the interior wall of the cabin – said the bombings were retribution for U.S. military action in Afghanistan and Iraq, and called the Boston victims “collateral damage” in the same way Muslims have been in the American-led wars. “When you attack one Muslim, you attack all Muslims,” Tsarnaev wrote.
Tsarnaev said he didn’t mourn older brother Tamerlan, the other suspect in the bombings, writing that by that point, Tamerlan was a martyr in paradise – and that he expected to join him there soon.
Why did this take so long to surface? Most likely because it didn’t fit the narrative the Administration and its minions were pushing.
Didn’t know why they did it. We must withold judgement. It was OUR fault for not being accepting enough of Muslim immigrants [while they lived in Cambridge, one of the bluest cities in the country..]…..
Blah blah blah. More misdirection.
I can’t remember now where I read it, but I did read a news story sometime within the first week or two after the bombing saying that authorities might be re-examining these murders for links to the bombers. It mentioned the near-decapitations and the strewing of dope and money, which I thought made the Islamist hypothesis very plausible: a crime of high religious indignation, committed not for revenge or robbery but to punish sin. And it did cross my mind that Weissman was probably a Jewish name, but I didn’t connect that dot, maybe because the other names didn’t trigger that association for me. Nor did I notice that the crime was committed on Sept 11.
I’d say all this is an extremely strong indication, in conjunction with the fact that they knew the vicitms, that the brothers did it. Not something you could base an arrest on, obviously, but as good a push for investigators as a brand-new very large insurance policy on a murder victim.

Precisely. The report doesn’t mention that the victims were Jewish. If not for political correctness, the Tsarnaev brothers would have immediately been prime suspects. See also
