Would this qualify…
Multiple sources tell L.A. Weekly that Charles and David Koch — the infamous right-wing billionaire brothers — are considering an offer on either the Tribune Co. newspaper group, which includes the L.A. Times, the Chicago Tribune and the Baltimore Sun or the entire Tribune Co., which includes more than 20 stations like WGN and KTLA Channel 5.
Dare we hope?
Whether or not this ends up happening—and my guess would be it’s just an idle rumor—something like this would be a good start on a conservative version of ye olde Gramscian march.
My folding money is on stupid rumor that enables the droolcup leftists to come out blathering.
I can see the exploding heads already.
The pulp rags are dead….
The networks in in for heavy sledding: the broadcast-advertising economic model is dying, too.
Every classy viewer is shifting over to DVRs.
It’s a death spiral for broadcasting.
Google is going to eat them all up.
Like Newsweak, all of these assets are just liabilities.
Dang typos…
I agree Blert, the MSM is on a downward spiral. Their financial ruin can not come soon enough. But should the “hostile takeover” be more than a rumor heads will explode into a drool cup.
Ironically the LAT and ChiTrib at one time were stalwart conservative Republican newspapers. While reporters have always leaned left many publishers outside the Northeast corridor were more right-wing. The founders of the newspapers were self-made men who believed in free enterprise. But the journals are now run by heirs who inherited all their money and never had to work an honest day in their lives so they are guilt-ridden liberals.
I truly hate “guilt-ridden liberals.” They belong face down on the ash heap.
