It’s Gangnam Pony time!
Unlike over a billion of the world’s population, I only just got introduced to this weird phenom, which probably signals the end of civilization as we know it:
It immediately reminded me of something I hadn’t thought about in close to five decades, the Pony:
And of course, since one of the most important functions of YouTube is to show us how difficult it is to have a truly unique and novel idea, I then almost inevitably found this:
No “probably” about it.
Chill, people – it’s just this years version of the Macarena.
Unlike over a billion of the world’s population, I only just got introduced to this weird phenom
Your luck was bound to run out some time.
Actually, this is great news. Since our lousy educators/educational system can’t hope to compete with the Asian ones, we’ll just drag their performance down to our level by exporting the culture of our underclass. Don’t raise the bridge; lower the river.
Watch Korean test scores plummet. Next thing you know, they’ll have to put pictures on the keys of cash registers, because the dumb asses won’t be able to read any more than our dumb asses can.
Hmmm … maybe we can also stick them with an Indonesian Red as their prime minister …
FYI, in 2004, Psy performed an anti-American rap on stage that could have been written by an Al Qaeda lyricist:

When brought to light earlier this year, Psy issued an apology. Since 2004, he’s performed for US troops in Korea and earlier this month, performed for President Obama in a televised Christmas special.
Occam: You don’t leave anything else for us to say 🙂
Chubby is lip sync’d better in the “Gangnam Style” video than he was in the original “Pony Time”.
Despite having been of age to remember Chubby Checker and the Pony- “boogety boogety boogety boogety shoop” has been seared in my memory- I would never have made the Pony-Gangnam Style connection. Perhaps the most used dance and song connection on YouTube is from Laurel and Hardy dance. Laurel and Hardy’s dancing scene from Way Out West has been set to music by Michael Jackson, ZZ Top, Devo, the Rolling Stones, and Santana, among others.
As far as music videos destroying civilization as we know it, Im afraid “Psy”‘s a little late to the game. Check out these metrosexual cry babies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0U0AlLVqpk
