Ugly dresses
I just discovered this website, where I plan to spend a bit of time now and then whenever I’m in desperate need of some frivolous R&R.
I tend to suspect some of these fashions are not for real. But here’s just one of the ugly dresses you can find there (although perhaps “ugly” isn’t quite the correct word—“bizarre” might be better):
To pull off something like that, it helps to have attitude. And she’s got it.
But I’m rather fond of these bridal shoes, as a sort of post-modern ironic commentary on something-or-other:
looks like she skinned a Muppet, made a dress, then fell into a rainbow sombrero dye machine, stumbling out, she caught hold of a live wire.
Voila!
It looks like a Dr. Suess dress.

Or those Fisher-Price stacking rings.
My niece had foot surgery shortly before she married and actually had to wear Keds that looked a lot like those bridal shoes.

I knew a young woman who gave her bridesmaids rhinestone-encrusted sneakers so the girls would have comfortable shoes for the reception.
Having a picture of you dressed in this “thing” could ruin your whole life, if it popped up at the wrong moment, and as for what it would do to your reputation as a “serious person,” well.
No, “ugly” is a good word here.
Do the designers of these lovely items represent the kind of artists that Pelosi said would be able to pursue their careers thanks to Obamcare?
Stompy bridal shoes?

That’s it! I knew that thing reminded me of something.
expat,
I want to see a photo (not a live appearance) of Nancy Pelosi in the stacking rings dress after her 1,000th botox injection lifts her eyebrows to the top of her forehead.
I say she’s wearing a pinata, and I’d like to take a stick to it.
Looks to me like one of those sponge-like thingies used for washing dishes.
I’m more favorably disposed towards the bridal flip-flops. I’ve often thought that women’s shoes are what keep podiatrists in business in the first place, so a little comfort on the big day is not necessarily a bad thing.

I weep for the muppets who died to make that dress possible!
