Obama, working-class hero — 22 Comments

  1. He can’t campaign on his record. Socialism/communism never can. The only tools they have are rhetoric and lies, counting on complicit media and incompetent voters.

  2. Over at Breitbart.com (H/T Instapundit) John Nolte points out:

“I’ve been watching all of the GOP candidates closely this year, and the top quality I’ve been looking for is someone who understands the political threat Obama’s Media Palace Guards represent and who has the wherewithal and stomach for the coming fight against them. Anyone can beat President FailureTeleprompter. It’s getting to him through the media that’s going to be brutal . . . .”

I’m optimistic about the Romney campaign’s willingness and ability to mount an active defense against Obama’s campaign. My concern still lies in the fact that while Romney mounts a strong defensive attack, it’s still exactly that: A DEFENSIVE attack. The Romney campaign still responds to the Obama campaign’s assault. This means that Romney is still playing on the terms as defined by the Obama camp.

One of the reasons for my past support of Gingrich was that he, unlike the other candidates, showed a willingness and ability to define an issue in his own terms; Gingrich forced the Obama sycophants to play the game on his own turf. Romney is not at that point yet. Let’s hope that it is soon in coming.

  3. FDR was a very highly paid Wall Street lawyer prior to becoming Governor of New York. The silver spoon was heavily gold plated through his entire life.

  4. I just learned that for an FDR monument anti-smoking groups got his cigarette holder banned, which you rarely saw him without, and disabled advocacy people insisted he be shown in a wheel chair, which you never saw him with.

Nobody – at least nobody relentless – cares about what IS or what WAS.

Up next: a law mandating the proper pronunciation of tomato.

  5. I just love the indignant refrain, “He can’t campaign on his record. ”

Who says he has to? He won’t.

  6. “But he could just as easily have touted the Workforce Investment Act–which was the actual (or ostensible) subject of his speech”

Oh, ostensible for sure. The actual subject of most everything to have ever crossed his mind has been “I”. He is “I” from his logo to his messianic verses.

  7. For God’s sake, can Obama do anything other than class warfare?

Someone who went to Punahou, Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard Law is trying to play the class card at a community college? Please.

As mentioned previously, I went to Punahou too. The expense nearly broke my parents, and my father was a senior military officer. The latter three schools above are well-known for their expense. So, Barry, knock off the “poor me” crap.

And while we’re on the subject, how did you pay for college and law school, anyway, Barry?

  8. Romney responds, as quoted at HotAir, sounding considerably more presidential than the President:

“I’m certainly not going to apologize for my dad and his success in life,” Romney said on “Fox & Friends.” “He was born poor. He worked his way to become very successful despite the fact that he didn’t have a college degree, and one of the things he wanted to do was provide for me and for my brother and sisters.” The former Massachusetts governor, added: “The president likes to attack fellow Americans. He’s always looking for a scapegoat, particularly those [who] have been successful like my dad, and I’m not going to rise to that,” Romney said. “This is a time to solve problems. This is not a time for us to be attacking people. We should be attacking problems.”

  9. On Twitter, someone deadpanned: “I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.” Why is he attacking his daughters like that?

  10. Obama really does not need to run on anything. His appeal is neurotic, not logical. He could murder a bus load of orphans and his supporters would rationalize it as noise control. As Pres. Wilson said, logic won’t take out of a man’s mind what logic did not put there.”

We don’t have a President, we have a substitute for drugs, alcohol and low self-esteem for 45% of the electorate. His supporters are substance abusers with financial problems, that is, they can’t afford the usual means of self-destruction so they dope up on free Obamaholites.

BTW, the Union leadership may support Obama but working class white males forsook their chance at salvation long ago. I suspect ‘O’ is playing to the media who are playing to the upper west side who think they are helping the working man survive the robber barons by supporting someone who loves arugula as much as they do.

So much for an objective analysis of the respective resumes of the candidates.

  11. He’s never campaigned on his record. He really has no record of accomplishment he can point to, only a couple of self-serving bios. He’s not going to start now.

Here’s what Daniel Greenberg at Sultan Knish says, ” And so Obama kept on saying very little of substance, yet entertaining his audiences. His speeches called up spirituality devoid of religion, Americana devoid of patriotism and ideals devoid of ideas. He appropriated them all and used them as props in his show.” Read it all here: http://tinyurl.com/cae3r2m

Everything he does is meant to coopt the voters’ sense that he stands for something they can identify with. He is a phony, but a convincing one. His speeches seem to promise much and yet no one quite remembers what he said. They are like cotton candy – seeming to have substance, but actually provide little.

His preferred modus operandi is to sucker punch his opponents, avoid engaging on real issues, play the victim/race card, and always keep attacking. It’s going to be down and dirty.

  12. *shrug*
I didn’t say he *needed* to run on his record. The fact that he doesn’t, however, seems to me to be more condemnatory of the electorate than the regime.

It’s not Obama we need to fight, it’s the rotten electorate, whether from ignorance or agreement with the corrosive “Progressive” Left.

  13. Ah.. but none of what he does is to gain the lost cause, its to play the part for the netted guppies. as i have said before, the game is about legitimacy…

It is not a matter simply of money; it is a matter of political legitimacy. Issues of legitimacy are much more important than issues of taxation. Legitimacy tells what the taxes will be spent on. That is far more important than the amount of taxes collected.

The problem is this: voting for the President, who is the only representative of all the people, is functionally a covenantal act. People ratify a particular President, and in doing so, they transfer authority and legitimacy to him and to his administration.

    Gary North

so all these games of words all blindly taken as truthful and never examined, so as never to find a reason not to believe. that’s how the left thrall are, so all these things as incredulous as they sound, are taken as truthful to a great degree by the target audience in thrall. those outside that are irrelevant as they would never be taken in long or are too aware and compare information in time. so to them, this seems unbelievable.

but all this was not created out of nowhere, it took a concerted incremental slice the salami game of 100 years to arrange the pieces from schools, to morals, to anti religion, nihilism, self loathing, removal of self control, men unable to pass their knowing down as families broken, dominant groups denuded of money to fund births in other more pliable groups, and so on… just look behind every point and see what it leads to behind the group that controls it.. everyone knows the groups up FRONT but when you show their roots, the quotes of leaders and so on, they dont believe they are all the same behind the image front.

as far as this election goes, its heads they win, tails the other side loses…

that’s the kind of outcome you get when one side is allowed to move and position its pieces and even construct laws it chooses to enforce or not enforce so that they cant be removed before they cant be removed. the institutions we rely on to do those things dont exist to do them when things change… which is why people dont think it will change.

  14. Dumbass wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and that is true. He was born with my spoon and your spoon in his mouth. It’s not silver; it’s better than silver, better than gold, better than platinum. It’s invisible, but like electricity, once you have it, you can’t live without it.

Ohhh he likes it! The invisible spoon, the affirmative action, the lack of critique, the adoration, the free ride, the perks, and the white guilt, yes, that’s best of all. Oh yeah. So good. White guilt. They want to be my friend and how I despise them but enjoy their support and money. Rousseau showed me the way. I am not a lawyer. I am not a politician. I am an artist. I am free. I am nature. And they will worship me.

  15. While NObama may not have been born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he had a nanny for a while when he was growing up. Not exactly working class hero material.

  16. he had a nanny for a while when he was growing up

And the nanny was a tranny.

Seriously, is there nothing commonplace about this guy, nothing that isn’t outre?

  17. How can a guy who has never had a real job in his life be a working class hero? This is going to gain as much traction as attacking Ann Romney and bringing up the treatment of dogs as a relevant campaign topic.

  18. There was once a man who believed
The song of the birds and the bees
    When he met Obama
    He said the trauma
Would pass from the man to the country.

  19. Obama’s childhood lack was not a silver spoon. It was sensible adults who could provide a stable family and who, just once in a while, could put his needs above their ideological and career fantasies. He learned early to manipulate and play the race card to get not just what he wants, but also what every child requires.
He pretends to resent Romney’s wealth, but in reality he resents any resistance to his own fantasies. The wealth of Buffett, Immelt, etc doesn’t bother him. Wagyu beef and Martha’s Vineyard lifestyles don’t bother him so long as he can be in the center and dictate how his fantasies are to be implemented. If their is any real jealousy of Romney, it is that Romney had a father who cared about him. Romney’s dad showed him how to change the oil in a car. Obama’s dad substitutes taught him the social justice clichees he needed to manipulate others.

  20. Well, it seems to me that the affirmative action, from which he has benefitted ALL of his life, might indicate that HE was born with a GOLDEN spoon in his mouth.

  21. How can a man who went to the best prep School in Hawaii and was raised the Vice President of Hawaii largest bank so who he can claim he is a “working class hero” is a bit beyond me. maybe it was was while he was eating dog that he was addressing.

  22. Sayonara, a co-worker of mine attended that school the same time BO did. This person said once, “Barry was one of the stoners!”
