Jennifer’s abs
This must-read (not!) article, putting down the recurrent Jennifer Aniston pregnancy rumors, refers to the 43-year-old actress’s “amazing rock-hard abs.” And lest you think this focus on Aniston’s abs is unusual, here’s another article that does the same.
Here’s the photo that seems to have prompted all this ab-worship (it’s in GQ, and has some other eccentricities that seem to have gone unremarked, although I assume the plot of the new movie being promoted would reveal just why Aniston is leading co-star Paul Rudd around on a makeshift leash):
Hey, I’m not impressed. Forty-three is practically childhood, especially in a woman who hasn’t given birth, and who can devote hours a day to maintaining those abs because it is her livelihood.
What’s more, I’m a lot older than 43, and I’ve got rock-hard abs too. You’ll have to take my word for it, though, because I’m not posting a photo on this blog. I’m not posting that photo for 2 very good reasons: modesty, and the fact that my rock-hard abs are a bit, shall we say, under wraps. They’re in there all right, somewhere; I just know they are. But I would have to lose about twenty pounds for them to be visible.
A woman can actually have very strong stomach muscles, but if there’s even a bit of fat on top of them—something most women naturally possess, young or old, whether they’re strong or not, unless they’re very very thin—then you won’t see those abs no matter how rock-hard they are. I’ve got nothing against Aniston’s abs, but there’s nothing special about them except for the fact that her fat percentage is so low that they’re right out there for all the world to see and admire.
I also remember a time when we weren’t quite so ab-centric as a society. For example, this was thought to be a very lovely abdomen indeed:
Bardot, Cannes, 1953, before she became a blond. She’s certainly very slender—at least as slender as Aniston, if not more—but the abs are still under a tiny bit of cover.
[ADDENDUM: And I call BS on this sort of article, so ubiquitous that, serendipitously, that one appeared on Yahoo’s main email page today. The only way to get rid of belly fat and have a flat middle is to lose a ton of weight, have a ton of liposuction, or to have genes that mean it’s not deposited there in the first place. And the latter only works when you’re pretty young; even the leanest-bellied among us have a tendency to get at least a small paunch when older, unless literally starving.]
What’s sad about the JA photo above is that at her age to have “authentic” abs like that she is essentially starving herself. Unless she possess a freakish metabolism which I seriously doubt there is no other way. Ask any bodybuilder.
The other strong possibility is photoshop and considering recent history (hello Demi Moore and your large head with no ass) who the hell knows.
Either way it’s essentially a hideous lie.
Prompted by my physician (hey, physicians sometimes listen to their doctors) I lost 36 pounds over 6 months.
My abs, which had remained “there” all along, like Neo’s, “under protective cover,” as it were, reappeared! It was quite gratifying.
But alas, I’m not at all beautiful, and I very much doubt Jennifer will want to put me on a leash!
Jamie Irons
Good lighting makes all the difference. A semi-candid beach shot of Anniston taken on the same day as the GQ shot would show her much like Bardot.
foxmarks: Jennifer would be very upset to hear you say that, because she works very hard on the definition of those abs.
I think there is a real difference, though. Although both women are very slender, if you were to compare body fat percentages, or muscle/fat ratios, Aniston is more muscular, although only slightly so. Since 1953, the fashion for both women and men is to be more muscular. But of course most women, without taking steroids, cannot grow big muscles, so Jennifer’s are still very small.
Bardot, by the way, had been a trained ballet dancer before she was a movie star.
Yes, the state says, women are not women, they are just minimen, and the concept of woman was invented to put the minimen down, is artificial and was induced in women by the environment created by the oppressors…
Zietgeist 101…
Which confuses the (ignorant and unenlightened) people who are not clones of the leadership and their ideas and desires, making one mind of everyone, erasing their individualism, and of course, negating the thought that would question what was presented.
“Feminism is the theory, lesbianism is the practice.” — Ti-Grace Atkinson
Masculinizing women, erases femininity and the concept of woman…
so from the fashion week show this week putting out Gay ideal of greek and roman beauty…
culturally mashed up with butch look finally hear after the slow walk from the cross dressing movement of Anne Klien II, the Maoist unisex movement and culminated in what? the super 98 lb big lipped jolie butch demeaning mama and example to the world.
And those magazines copying the magazines from some other place that did the same programming of women in another place, and were copied her by people with the same beliefs… had nothing to do with it….
on the flip side.. the emasculation of men..
ie… for some reason the ladies want to be men and abuse the men who they now make into ladies.. you know.. like blacks who have no connection to slaves want to enslave whites who have no connection to slavers to get recompense for something that never happened to them from someone who never did anything!!!
such is the mind of our new enlightened…
here is the FUNNY part…
they didnt tell the ladies that the end of this is to be just as disposable and nothing as men are…
we weep for the 8 women who died in vietnam more than the 50,000 men…
but just take a look at the future if this was possible to keep going.
men will stay home with the nintendo, try to look pretty… and act like lions… women will go to work, pay super high taxes to fund the men who sit at home… the ladies wont hasve time for family, as men didnt… they wont have time to socialize… as the men are just pretty boys for the cougars… cougars who poach the mates of the young girls making it harder for the class to prevent demographic suicide from all angles.
and the ladies will go to war..
they will lose, and the other side will win
but it will be a moral loss rater than an immoral win…
now that women work like men, get the same stress deseases as men, are now kept from their family as men, their labor taxes as men, and now have muscled and biceps like men (well they think so)…
they can now fight closer to the front line and perhaps be drafted!!! makes it easy to finish the demographic genocide by having a conflict.. (note iran, egype, korea, the china sea, hormuz, muslim brotherhood, nuclear arms disarmament, etc, etc. etc)
Pentagon to change rules for women in combat, easing restrictions
http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/americas/united-states/120209/pentagon-changes-rules-women-combat
oh.. how to fix it then when the women complain that they work, and have no time for kids, and that they are not sharing their earnings with the men and so on?
they cant as they neutralized all those points BEFORE climbing into the same hole…
you know… kind of like removing the ladder from a deep hole BEFORE you climb into it.
i guess they will look to the advice of their leaders.. the ones that have them doing ALL the work now… like the men USED to do…
“If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction of the population of males.” — Mary Daly, former Professor at Boston College, 2001
“The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.” — Sally Miller Gearhart, The Future – If There Is One – Is Female
i guess they are even MORE disposable…
the masculinization of women is in fashion week where they have strong jaws, small breasts, biceps (hormones), thin hips, and generally look like a 19 old male late bloomer
women just want to be men…
but without the providing part and the responsibility to others part..
or to take a song from the social commentary in abstract Shock Treatment (which continues the commentary on the social cahnges of the frankfurt school in Rocky horror.. ergo Frankenfurter being the leader who we find has controllers)
the story shock treatment is an symbolic allegory of the move to make the private public (a feminism cry), the disatisfaction given to women about home life (bitchin in the kitchen) the lack of sex (crying in the bedroom all night) and the chaining up and pushing out of men (as mental defectives represented by brad), as his girl responds to the attention, drops him for all the fun sex (looking for trade), and doing it all for herself (singing the ME of ME!!!)…
and thats the song they sing today
the me of me!
funny how it predated all the changes..
“You’ll find happy hearts, and smiling faces
And tolerance for the ethnic races – in Denton”

who has to do the work of a job and the work at home… etc etc.. (betty friedan and so on)
here is her lyrics
There’s just the two of me
Alone at last together
We’ve got the luck so far
We are my lucky star
Deep in the heart of me
I love every part of me
All I can see in me
Is danger and ecstasy
One thing there couldn’t be
Is any more me in me
I am my destiny
Je croie en toujour en moi, ha ha
I’d never lie to me
I’d be willing to die for moi
I’ll pray every day to me
And here’s what I’d say to me
of course… that’s not selfish
and if i photographed a handsome man with women like dogs on a chain, would i be ignored and bypassed to discuss the biceps?
men are dogs right?

“I have a bit of a belly, like Madonna in Lucky Star.” Pulp Fiction scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ima2zLBMSQ
For me: a belly is sensuous and feminine. I like sensuous and feminine. Well defined abs are manly; are not sensuous and feminine.
Which, Pilates, in moderation, is a good thing: core strength is a good thing – is important for bodily health. Just saying: everything in moderation.
There is no earthy, earthly, or heavenly reason for ‘six-pack’ abs on a woman. Until such time as women’s dresses make a point of featuring the abs as they do décolletage, great gams, arms/sleeveless, back/backless, I will remain indifferent — and in all probability, even after.
by the way..
women who work out too much, are too lean, are infertile…
women who have abortions, can become infertile due to scaring…
STDs cause infertility… which is why free love is promoted…
putting off marriage makes a roulette game for babies… leaving many women barren and many more with a reduction in life time fertility
the empowerment of women to be overweight and happy, also causes infertility while heavy (and diabetes)
absence of a father causes early onset of menses, lack of education and development and lowers the lifetime achievement potential of girls.
only children compared to those in bigger family have higher entitlement problems and so forth than children who come from larger families (china has a noticeable problem)
oh.. and just plain deciding never to have children also lowers fertility… as does lesbianism, experimentation, etc.
lots of other things too. its in the science literture, but those dont get published, the crappy stuff that confirms political policy and progressivism and such gets it.
the population is no longer producing enough to replace.. no population EVER recovers from that number…
good thing we have immigrants flooding in who are counted on the rolls or else we might notice waht the front page of the census says, and put two and two together…
good thing I know of the banana theory and how you can destroy the other by helping them to their own doom rather than otherwise!!!
as long as she is out pulling a train, lifting weights, catching a desase, having a good time. she aint having babies, and so her babies will never compete with my children who follow traditional upper society mores.
right?
by now neo deleted the fosdick link to sanger and population control movement funded by the same people who published the magazines, hte books and so forth.
ie, the people who have managed to insure that women only see one mono view… and no alternatives allowed.. why? cause women would run for it like they would run for the exits in a fire..
“No woman should be authorized to stay at home and raise her children. Society should be totally different. Women should not have that choice, precisely because if there is such a choice, too many women will make that one.” — Interview with Simone de Beauvoir, “Sex, Society, and the Female Dilemma,” Saturday Review, June 14, 1975, p.18
see?
perhaps reading about those plans,t he owners of what you read, and so on. might be a good thing before you, thorugh bad advice and circumstances spreading from it, end up exterminating your several billion year lineage going back to the first life on the planet unbroken!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not that that is a problem. we are all equal, so someone elses genes can remain, yours are not important… how can a copy an equal be important?

“… because I’m not posting a photo on this blog…”
Well, that’s it. I’m outta here.
oh.. i forgot.. masculinization of women turns heterosexual men off, lowering fertility of the group and their amount of selections…
and so does making the mate impossible to live with.. as does tempting them away to a bad situation like no fault divorce, state aid, and all that does.. (this is not a comment related to real abuse)
oh.. and so does pretending every male is a pedophile..
metrosexuality lowers fertility the other way. women didnt like men wearing cowboy boots as heels for men, they certainly dont like men with makeup and nails and so on.. do they?
fomenting homosexuality and the deseases around it… does the same
and multiculturalism? makes us too afraid in our neighborhoods.. .which lowers our fertility too…
EVERY major point of the left lowers fertility and knowledge of the people and regresses their genetics (compared to the leaders)
add on top the human self estermination movement… and you basically are seeing policy that lowers or demographjically exterminates races and groups… being the one implemented.
with us now used to state mandated innoculations, and the state providing norplant without parental permission..
we are all ready for holdrens idea of putting abortifactants int he water or creating vaccines that cause permanent infertility…
dont worry
they are now discussing harvesting organs from downs syundrom and parapelegics and all that stuff.

this is about as interesting as GSLEN giving out instructions for teens on loving fisting, and our schools czar admitting in a speech that the agenda is to foment this stuff to the kids whether parents want it or not..
[feminism insured that parents have no rights or anything in terms of the kids… the women made a devils deal they still donr realize yet they made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they keep blaming the politicians and all that and never realize that their parens patria and private is public stuff came decades first]
after organ harvesting article and such discussions after obamacare…
dr planka’s idea of using ebola for population control and recieving applause… seems a bit more plausible and beleivable… despite the denial of it… (And the death of the man who broke the story who had a long trusted public identity)
oh… and the feminist saying to exterminate men.. and the hatred at jews and all that
i guess we have a remake in the age of remakes…
and to top it off

why would anything but a international communist want that?
just think of what these people coudl do to poor nations whose economy is too small for them to parasite and use the resources againt people… besides such large outside help insures that they too will be able to induce the population using tghe social engineering methods perfected on us.
this time in indonesia i watched a series of commercdials that shows a woman modernized wanting birth control and that with that, her ilfe will be more fun fun fun..
the me of me in indonesia…

I’m a straight male who’s “into” health and fitness, and admire women who share that interest. I’ve found abs on women sexy ever since I was a youngster and saw a photo of the late Juliet Prowse in her skimpy showgirl outfit when she was appearing in Las Vegas. I detect a lot of “abs” envy on this board. I don’t think Ms. Anniston has to starve to get those abs. She just has to work out, eat clean, do cardio, and have the righjt lighting for the photo shoot. Mainly the first three.
@Bilwick – “eat clean”! I *hate* that term! Why is it, by extension, “dirty” to eat anything but brown rice, fish chicken and vegetables? I’d rather have slightly more body fat (and I don’t have much since I eat everything in moderation) than cut out all the foods that make life such a joy to live. In my opinion, these fitness freaks are often the most soulless, messed up people.
Bilwick: since most of the comments so far have been from men, as far as I can see, do you think they’re the ones with the ab envy?
Aniston actually was heavier when she was first trying to succeed at acting, and her agent told her she’d have to lose 30 pounds to be successful.
Now she follows a very strict regimen that includes a personal chef. Not realistic for most people, however “clean” they eat (whatever that means).
I’ve been in the ballet world for decades when I was young, and I can tell you most dancers and actresses exist in a permanent state of semi-starvation, unless they are among the very few who are naturally thin (these people exist, of course). With men it’s different; in general, they have less tendency to put on fat, although as they age they can pretty easily catch up.
When I danced, I ate about 900 calories a day for many years, and that’s when I was very very active. It’s the only way I could maintain a very low body weight. I have no interest in being that thin now—which is fortunate, because at this point it would probably require an intake of about 600 calories a day. And I’m still very active, although not as active as in my ballet days.
A couple years ago, I entered a weight-loss contest and lost 41 lbs over three months. I literally went from 180 to 139, and at NO point over that period did my abs ever become visible. Even at my lightest weight, I couldn’t see them. I think I was born without them.
Oh yeah, AND I lost the contest.
Paunches develop for a purpose, not just to make us tubby and less attractive.
My view is that the paunches of middle age are an energy storage for the final and ultimately futile struggle with an energy and appetite-sapping fatal disease.
Google yourself some candid/paparazzi shots of Anniston at the beach. I am not suggesting she is anything but lean and fit, but she’s not ready for Fitness America.
An alternate pop-culture view on women’s abs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfN2SpUqfPM
“I have a bit of a tummy, like Madonna when she did Lucky Star.”
I look at her and do not know her:
My wife! My love! It was not me
but her–who found her and gave her
what she wanted–and we
were not included. So the magic
that had been became a has been.
And left my heart and mind tragic.
When I danced, I ate about 900 calories a day
Nine hundred calories? Seriously? That’s lunch – or part of it, anyway.
Back when, at football camp, doing two practices a day, we used to eat about 5000 calories a day – and didn’t gain an ounce.
Occam’s Beard: I don’t know what it’s like now in the ballet world, but when I was in that milieu many active dancers ate a lot less than 900 calories a day. What a ballet female dancer, who might weight 95 pounds soaking wet but whose natural weight should be perhaps 30 pounds more than that, can eat versus what a football player can eat—well, there’s really no comparison. And yet the dancer is just as hungry as the football player—many of them just learn to deny it. Once they are in the realm of anorexia (which sometimes happens) then the appetite is suppressed.
Of course, some dancers are naturally thin and eat normally. But a lot of them have to keep themselves on a regimen so strict it amounts to slow starvation.
Here’s an article about eating disorders in dancers, from 1997.
I was not drinking anything, and made my wife put down her coffee cup before I showed her your description of your hidden six-pack. We are a little vague about the correct technique for cleaning these newfangled computer screens.
I gained weight during the pregnancies, no kidding, really, and our son will be twenty seven on Sunday.* However, the rock-hard six pack is still under there, somewhere.
*The smell of cooking food exacerbated the nausea, so I did even more of the cooking than usual, and, if I cook, I eat, in this case, five times a day.
Excuse me, but doesn’t the Bardot photo impact the viewer so much more than any JA phote. Now, don’t get me wrong. I have always liked JA for not so much her looks as her comedic appeal. She has a nice view of herself which comes through, but pure sexual appeal wise, the Bardot picture is breathtaking and endless and in another class.
Neo, that’s amazing that anyone can survive – much less be active – on so little fuel.
Curtis: did you see this post, and the comments afterward?
I did, and I was immediately angry and did not even read the comments because, to me, there is no argument that JA and BH compare to MM.
And even though we all are the children of Eve, and I am wrong in the assumption of preferring MM, it is the privilege of old folks to prefer who first caught our fancy.
And I maintain, that fancy is best caught by allure and not by power.
Ummmm, I meant to refer to Britney Spears as BS not BH, which is more appropriate.
Art’s classical nudes get Photoshopped to be skinnier
I like the “before” pictures in every case, except the one that got mixed up and they put the “after” picture before the “before”.
rickl @ 12:06 am . . .
I’m with you! The photoshopped ones look ill. So does the thinned-out logo for Columbia (?) Pictures. I forgot the name of the movie company with the woman holding a torch, but the revised logo shows a woman with ugly skinny arms.
As a former Audrey Hepburn wannabee, I always liked the slim look, but so many of today’s ideal women are just too childlike.
I can see why men prefer the rubenesque woman over the skinny women. I feel the same way about men. So many modern actors and male models just look sick or hormone deficient.
Whenever I think ‘six-pack’, the first thing that comes to mind is a fat slob of a man with a beer belly, ogling Jennifer Aniston on television. While rubbing his hairy stomach. In his underwear.
At 3 am.
Jennifer Anniston has a great body because it’s her full-time occupation to keep it that way. Good for her – it helps her career and the rest of us can admire it. However, it’s definitely not ideal for the typical woman her age who works and has had children. And if you look at the popular models (the one’s in male-oriented media like Sports Illustrated, Victoria’s Secret), it’s the curvy ones like Brooklyn Decker who are considered sexy.
Isn’t it interesting that female actresses (and other performers) are getting more muscular while male actors have been looking more juvenile, like Tobey Maguire, Leo DiCaprio, etc. Certainly fits Artfldgr’s analysis…..
Libby: here’s a post of mine about the trend toward androgyny in male actors.
Late to the party, but Promethea, I’ve also noticed the anorexic Columbia Pictures lady.
Turns out they redesigned the “Torch Lady” as an anorexic in 1993. I KNEW it! That bony arm, and that flat bosom, sure weren’t features of the formerly curvy “Columbia.”
Here’s an article about the various versions over the years, with pictures, from the Wayback Machine.
http://preview.tinyurl.com/88p69s8
Oh, and notice that Columbia ALSO got rid of the American Flag she had always been draped in, in that 1993 redesign. Now she’s just wearing a blue drape over the white gown.
The earlier versions of her had a bosom and hips, and were patriotic. O tempora, o mores!
Why am I always seeing this self projection from women whenever a hot body is involved? Why do you even care that JA has great abs?
I care only to the extent that they’re nice to look at.
Jenifer cares because it’s all about her paycheck and her appearance.
Jenifer’s employers care because that asset does help to bring people into theaters, although I suspect they are far more interested in the overall package and the presentation of sexiness.
But why do you care? How would this in any way deter from your life? It’s like the posting about models and the lengths that they go to acheive the look that their employers want. Men do not look at JA or whomever the latest supermodel is and say “I’m not going to have sex with any woman unless she looks like that.” The women look like that because they are paid to look like that, and they’re paid to look like that because the only way the vast majority of men get to see someone like that is on the screen.
Great abs burst on to the scene with Jamie Lee Curtis and they’ll probably persist for a very long time. That’s great for fantasy and great for the couples who like the same thing in their own life, but it does not mean anything about the rest of womanhood. It’s just one more physical attribute out of many that appeal to men and which can be exploited by the woman who wants to attract them.
Here is extreme abdominal musculature, on a woman, which looks fabulous. The woman is Alex Morgan, midfielder, U.S. Soccer. Even though the musculature is extreme, it is mostly the result of the twisting athletic movement of soccer, and is therefore coordinated and balanced musculature. Also, b/c of Alex Morgan’s career, the musculature is surely abetted by dietary consumption of several thousand calories per day. So, this musculature is the result of years of very rare and extreme athletic and nutritional factors. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012_swimsuit/painting/alex-morgan/12_alex-morgan_1.html
I like to say I have “washboard abs,” but that they are hidden by my “wet laundry” subcutaneous fat layer.
Wry Mouth: or maybe by the suds?
