Who are these people?
I was researching a post I might write some day about Republican presidents, and I came across this photo.
Who are these people?
Scions of two Republican presidents, they are Julie Nixon and David Eisenhower, who married in 1968 and are still married, an achievement in itself (they were both 20 years old at the time of their wedding; they had met as children at the 1956 Republican convention that nominated Julie’s father for VP and David’s grandfather for president). The above photo was taken at the wedding of the son of Julie’s sister Tricia, in the summer of 2011, which would make Julie close to 63 years old.
I suspect a smidgeon of cosmetic surgery. But whatever it is she’s had done or not had done, she looks awfully good. In her face I see both parents, and somehow it works despite the fact that her father was not the handsomest of men. Interesting factoid: her Wiki entry states that she and her husband donated quite a bit of money to the campaign of one Barack Obama in 2008.
Now quick, who’s this?
Their daughter, Jennie Elizabeth Eisenhower, who is also Nixon’s granddaughter, Eisenhower’s great-granddaughter, and an actress.
granddaughter is hot!
And Howdy Doody aged very well too!
“Interesting factoid: her Wiki entry states that she and her husband donated quite a bit of money to the campaign of one Barack Obama in 2008.”
It goes to show y’all that, even among the scions of past Republican Presidents (revered or otherwise), fools and their money are soon parted…
An even more interesting wiki factoid…..
“”The Creedence Clearwater Revival song “Fortunate Son” was inspired by David Eisenhower and Julie Nixon.[8] John Fogerty who wrote the song thought that Eisenhower received preferential treatment because he was born into a famous family and married to the daughter of the President.[9]””
And now you know….The rest of the story.
I thought the granddaughter looked really familiar and that once I looked up her bio I’d know what movie I’d seen her in. But she’s only been in 3, according to IMDb, and those were spread out over 8 years. And none of her characters had names, just titles (like “TV correspondent”). So, I guess I’m confusing her with someone else.
As far the donations to one Barack Obama, that makes me sad. Just as the thought of David Brooks continues to make me sad.
I agree with Reliapundit.
Well, while we’re at it, I agree with newton!
I’m getting old! I actually guessed right! She actually looks prettier than she was young. She was cute while her longer-haired blonde sister, Tricia sort of stole the show. But he was nice looking then. (Not my type now. But what a great smile. He seems very happy. Not only is it nice to hear they stayed married (it’s hard enough to begin with, but when both partners grew up in the semi-limelight, or rather being known as much for whose child/grandchild they were as for who they were/are as individuals can’t be easy. Perhaps finding one another may have made it easier with basically same thing in common. Good for them!
Could never have guessed about the daughter, but she is absolutely lovely. Really, really pretty. Hope happy and successful. Good for her, too!
David definitey inherited his Grandpa’s dome. He must be rolling in his grave, being his blood gave his $ to Obama.
The daughter is beautiful, but her headshot shows no personality.
Hmmm, I look at Jennie and then I look a Carolyn Kennedy. Nixon might have lost the debate but it looks like he won the gene pool.
