The Democrats never went broke… — 16 Comments

  1. My favorite was the bleating about Republicans obstructing the wonderful legislation Obama proposed in his first two years of trying to be President. Apparently the Dems were counting on people not realizing that the Dems controlled the House, the Senate, and the White House. What else did they need? Control of the MLB Commissioner’s office?

  2. and, again, for the left:
there is no pursuit of truth. For the left: objective truth is a rumor, is a superstition for saps.

There is only the pursuit of power. Pursuit of power is virtuous, insofar as the left is virtuous and the right is evil. There is no: best governing philosophy vs worst governing philosophy. There is only: virtuous left in power vs. evil in power.

For the left: that the left wants to govern virtuously means the left will govern virtuously. Virtue is a question of desiring to be virtuous, and nothing more. The right is unvirtuous b/c the right does not desire to be virtuous. For the left, the question is no more complicated than that. And objective truth is a superstition.

  3. In other words, the people may be getting the government they deserve.

    We generally do.

“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.”
    — H. L. Mencken

  4. If Dems controlled the Major League Baseball Commissioner’s Office, they would be harsh to baseball fans and would allow fans of other sports to run roughshod. Dems would have already ceded Oakland Coliseum to Oakland Raiders fans. The A’s would be forced to play at a JUCO field. Michelle Obama would ban hot dogs. Barack’s Administration would refuse to allow amateur scouting in Latin America. Barack would announce that baseball players had lost their competitive edge; would excoriate fans for demonizing the “other” team, for clinging to their baseball gloves and beer cups. Biden would ban air travel in favor of train travel. Dems would send Pujols and Sabathia to the Astros.

  5. If Dems controlled the Major League Baseball Commissioner’s Office

… the World Series would be decided by the total number of runs each team scored, rather than games won. That is, of course, if they allowed any score to be kept.

… every player would have to bat and throw from the left.

… right field would be demonized, left field lionized.

… there would be no umpires. The pitcher, catcher, and batter would all share their feelings about each pitch, and whether it conformed to social norms for a strike, or was a trajectorally-challenged pitch.

… slow runners would be allowed to run right over the mound to get to second base, instead of having to go via first base, to make the game more “fair.”

… and before each game the crowd would sing “The Internationale” to a rainbow or UN flag.

  6. To signal the start of the game, the umpire would yell: “Play nice!”

Seventh Inning Stretch = the leftist anthem song “Imagine” … imagine there’s no heaven, countries, nothing to kill or die for, no religion, all people living life in peace, no possessions.

  7. Spectators would sing

Take me out to the ball game,
take me out with the masses,
buy me stuff and loan me your jack,
but don’t expect to ever get it back.

So it’s root root root for the oppressed,
if they don’t win Bush is to blame,
’cause the people united will never be defeated
    at the new ball game!

  8. I’m not optimistic about Obama getting beat. So many people are hurting that the claim that Republicans protect the rich and don’t care about the middle class will get traction. Blacks, Hispanics, and young people give him 30-40% before he starts. It’s ironic that the bad economy might actually help the incumbent this time.

  9. It’s hard to have to share in a comeuppance one didn’t vote for but it will be worth it should the country survive the revealing of the snarling, slavering Progressive beast.

  10. Bitchin’ and hopin’ and carpin’ and blamin’
Scammin’ and schemin’ each night of their votes
All you will get are their goats!

So if you’re lookin’ to find a sec-ond term
    You gotta do more than
Bitchin’ and hopin’ and carpin’ and blamin’
You gotta hold ‘em and smooch ‘em and love em’
    And pre-tend that you care!

It’s ironic that the bad economy might actually help the incumbent this time.

I’ve thought that was the plan all along. Strangle the private economy so thoroughly that the only remaining options are government jobs or government checks. Create such levels of hardship, suffering, and fear that the people receiving government checks will beg for them to keep coming, and the people with government jobs will fight tooth and nail to keep them. Anyone who threatens the new status quo can be painted as the enemy.

This is how a population can be cowed into servitude.

  12. The Founders knew the system would only work in the long term if well informed voters decided elections.

The irony is that we live in an era of ubiquitous communications and yet the electorate is probably less informed about major issues as they’ve ever been. I’d go a step further and suggest only a small percentage of the population can articulate the major ideological differences between the two parties without regurgitating the Democrat Media Complex rhetorical talking points we hear ad nauseum daily.

For example, we saw it with a bright, highly educated, very successful person like David Mamet who admitted he wasn’t really sure why he was a Democrat for most of his life. He just was. It took him alot of reading to figure out what the underlying principles are of each party.

    It’s quite depressing.

  13. The Democrats [sic] have it figured out, all right. They know that if you pump enough outrageous lies into the air and cover all their team’s malfeasance and trampling of our laws and liberties, you can buy the votes of the ignorant, greedy “citizens.”

All they need is the complicity of the “Fourth Estate,” which has trussed us up like a turkey for the slaughter.

  14. ” But apparently Democrats are counting on the fact that (blablabla) … ”
    = = = = = =

Nah. Democrats are counting on the fact that an outright, bald-faced lie, repeated often enough by the sold-their-souls-with-no-remorse mainstream media (aka the “unofficial campaign arm” of the Lib-Prog political machine), will be accepted as truth/ whole truth/ nothing-but-truth by those credulous voters who still believe our “fair and free press” reports objectively and honestly.

  15. “The Founders knew the system would only work in the long term if well informed voters decided elections.”

The bell curve is real. Only 50% can be to the right of the mean and 50% will always be to the left of the mean. In a sane society there are limitations on who is allowed to vote. We can have a discussion on what makes an individual qualified to vote; but IMO in a sane society the first criteria is that the individual is on the right side of the bell curve.
